Orange Avenue is a six-lane glorified offramp that replaced much of the Central Avenue District.
Central Avenue was once the heart of Tampa's black community. Starting at the northeast corner of Downtown Tampa, the district stretched north to around Kay Street. It was lined with restaurants, hotels, and even theaters frequented by black celebrities on the Florida circuit. Another part of the district, The Scrub, was a shantytown of sorts, filled with dirt roads and shacks.
Beginning in the 1950s, various civic projects were initiated. The northern parts of the district were cleared in preparation of Interstate 4 (later 75, followed by 275). Much of Central Avenue itself was destroyed in favor of Orange Avenue, a wide six-line glorified onramp/offramp, stretching four or five blocks from the Interstate to Cass Street. Many of the district's residents were relocated to the then-new black subdivision of College Hill, located a few miles away along 22nd Street. The rest of the residents were relocated to the massive Central Park Village housing project, located on the eastern side of the Central Avenue District. Other various urban renewal schemes destroyed almost every piece of the historic district except for a few churches. By the time of the 1967 Tampa Race Riot, Central Avenue was dead.
Today, there really isn't much that acknowledges this part of town. There's a mural on the side of the Kid Mason Community Center, the Longshoremen's Union Hall, a few scattered churches, and a historical marker. There's also Perry Harvey Park, named after a local black politician. Even the Central Park Village projects have been demolished, eventually to be replaced by dubious mixed-income buildings.

Work on the mid-platform footbridge to replace the temporary screens which served to protect users from contact with the overhead wires.
Unfortunately, these photos were taken on Monday 7th December with the work only a quarter completed and no workers in sight.
Two of three screen sections to be installed on the northern steps have been erected, but not the middle one. None have been erected on the southern steps.

This ramp in front of the Post Office was new last fall. When I arrived to get the mail this morning they were tearing it out again. I took some pictures and talked to one of the workmen. He said that regulations say that you must have a flat section every 20' and since this one was made as a continuous slope it had to be redone.

St Mary's Church, rebuilt by Act of Parliament in the 1790s and replacing an even larger medieval building, is Banbury's only grade I listed building and its most conspicuous landmark. It was the largest parish church built in England in the 18th century, and remains among the top 1% in terms of size. It has been identified as a 'major parish church' by the Church Buildings Council.
The main body of the church was built in 1790-97 to a design by S.P. Cockerell, the tower and portico being finally completed in 1822. The interior was remodelled in the 1860s and
70s by Arthur Blomfield, with stained glass windows and wallpaintings by Heaton, Butler and Bayne, including major artwork by the highly talented pre-Raphaelite artist Alfred Hassam (1842-69).
Built to seat 2,500 worshippers, the church comprises a 90 ft (27.5m) square auditorium, originally galleried on all four sides, a substantial forebuilding that embraces the tower and contains a circular vestibule and the principal staircases, and a small chancel with attached vestries. It was transformed internally in 1874 when the chancel was raised to the full height of the church, an apse was introduced within it and it was integrated with the rest of the church by the addition of giant ionic pilasters replicating the columns that support the central saucer dome. The functional chancel was extended out into the main body of the church, originally defined by low walls (cancelli) modelled on those in San Clemente in Rome. Like the cancelli, the associated decorative scheme was entirely Early Christian in inspiration, and is dominated by a faux-mosaic in the apse of the twelve apostles, surmounted by Christ in Majestyin the semi-dome above.
The Chancel Paintings
Above the High Altar - in the dome of the apse, is depicted the Vision of the Throne of God from Revelation chapter 4; the rainbow, the four and twenty elders, the four living creatures, and the seven lamps symbolic of the Holy Spirit.
Behind the High Altar are the figures of the Twelve Apostles with appropriate symbols of their calling or martyrdom. From left to right they are 1) St James the Less, 2) St James the Great, 3) St Jude, 4) St Simon, 5) St Peter, 6) St Philip, 7) St John, 8) St Matthias, 9) St Bartholomew, 10) St Thomas, 11) St Andrew, 12) St Matthew.
The Windows
The stained glass is also of Blomfield's time, the most striking windows being those at the eastern end of the nave above the galleries - by an unknown artist. The upper windows in the gallery represent scenes from the life of Jesus 30 in all, while the lower windows illustrate 10 of his parables.
The organ was built by Byfield, Wilcox and Knight in 1765 for the old church. Since then it has been heavily modified several times.
In 2002 the chancel was extended forward to create a stage, facilities for those with disabilities were added, emergency lighting and toilets were installed and the church was redecorated.

Multi-purpose airship launched in 2889 DD, replaces the A24. It is mainly used on the continent Quatralle and main production plant is located on the outskirts of Brüllouse. However, there are versions of this vehicle built by different manufacturers on other continents.
Known for its economy and great autonomy, the A27 carrying a normal load and using the cruise control can hold about 24 hours in the air without refueling. The balloon is semi-rigid and contains the fuel tanks and main engine of the propeller. The A24 in turn, carried the tanks outside, that caused numerous accidents. In addition, the main engine, the new airship also has two small propeller thrusters, used only in docking operations.
It can carry about 1 ton of cargo, although able to support about 3 tons in short journeys.
It is relatively resistant, with a low manufacturing cost and has a simple and economic maintenance.
Due to its price and ease of maintenance, is used in different situations and for various functions.

She had married the Hon. John Theophilus Rawdon M. P. (1756–1808) of Bolney Court, Oxon. on 30th October. 1792, she was the daughter. of Joseph William Hall Stevenson (died 1786) of Skelton Castle, Yorkshire, and his wife Ann, daughter and heiress of James Foster, Drumgoom, Co. Fermanagh, Ireland. Fanny was also the sister. of John Wharton*, they only had 1 daughter Elizabeth Anne Rawdon 1793 -1874 who married William (Lord) Russell - she erected the memorial. She and Russell had three sons, all of whom she tutored at home, perhaps lending them a rather distinctive approach to life:

Replacing 37401 and stock, which had failed earlier in the day, 142050 crosses Ravenglass viaduct working 11.38 Barrow in Furness to Carlisle. Would've been better with a 37!
I initially sorted this one into the "skip" pile and wasn't going to post it. But I realized that I posted a nearly identical view after I last stopped at this view point in 2006. And this part of the bridge has been replaced since then! So that makes it interesting to me.

She was born Amelia Rowe at ValparaÃso Chile, the youngest daughter of 9 children of American parents, Alfred & Virginia Worthington Heath Ward. Alfred who died in 1867 served as an US Consul . After his death her mother moved the family to London where Virginia became a naturalized British citizen in 1873. Around that time Amy displayed a skill for composition and became a student of Carl Schloesser and Amy Horrocks. Her early work, published as Amy Ward, though promising, was received only tepidly.
At the age of 34 she married Lieutenant-Colonel George Corfield Woodforde-Finden,1846-1916 a brigadier and surgeon in the Indian Army; serving with the 11 Bengal Cavalry, the 2nd Gurkhas. They lived in India for several years, and during her time there she wrote and published what would become her most famous pieces: "The Lover in Damascus" and "Kashmiri Song" based on a poem by Laurence Hope, pseudonym of Adela Florence Nicolson. The latter was originally self-published in 1902 but because of its popularity and the influence of Hamilton Earle, it was eventually published by Boosey & Co.. In the years that followed Amy composed "On Jhelum River", "The Pagoda of Flowers" and "Stars of the Desert".
In 1916 her husband died and she returned to London, her work was featured in the film "Less Than the Dust"
In 1943 Kashmiri Song would be used in the film "Hers To Hold".
When she died in 1949 she was still composing and is said to have died at the piano.
Her connection with the village came through her stepson Eric, an invalid who lived here in the care of the local doctor. When he died in 1913, he was buried in the churchyard - along with her husband, his father Colonel Woodforde-Finden
Marble monument is by London sculptor George Wade possibly designed by Judini. Her head is crowned with a laurel wreath, and at each corner are cherubs representing , as the inscription says, "flights of angels sing thee to thy rest" Scenes from some of her songs are depicted on the sides of the monument, together with the Burmese pagoda, the Shwe Dagon from the Pagoda of Flowers. www.flickr.com/gp/52219527@N00/pTP37L

2007 built B7 2625-7 are due to replace 2003 built B12 2521,2522 and 2535 on route 13 contract next month. This trio will likely leave Copenhagen but see some use as reserves

The tap wasn't working well, so it had to be replaced, even with the cask full of beer.
First: Tom Cizauskas (Yours For Good Fermentables.com) sealed the top shive bung with a hard spile, creating a semi-vacuum seal. (See the photo here.)
Second: He removed the tap. Notice that with the top shive bung sealed with a hard spile (hardwood peg), the beer only trickles out of the opened keystone, similar to a finger on the end of a drinking straw. (See the photo here.)
Finally, he inserted a new tap into keystone (and then removed the hard spile). At most a minute, and little beer lost.
