Flickr Cookie Policy

Date of Last Revision: October 20, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Awes.me, Inc. d/b/a Awesome & Flickr, Inc. ("Flickr," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Flickr website. It also explains the choices you have. It supplements the Flickr Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs). In this policy, we call all of them "cookies."

  • First-party cookies are set by Flickr.

  • Third-party cookies are set by other companies through our website, such as analytics and advertising partners. Those companies' use of cookies is also governed by their own privacy policies.

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.

2. How we use cookies

We group cookies into the categories below. You can see each category, and turn optional categories on or off, in Cookie Settings.

Category What it does Can you turn it off?
Essential Keeps Flickr working and secure. For example, it keeps you signed in, processes payments, prevents fraud, and remembers your cookie choices. No. Flickr cannot work without these.
Personalization Remembers your settings and preferences, such as language. Yes
Analytics Helps us understand how people use Flickr so we can improve it. Yes
Targeted Advertising Helps us and our advertising partners show ads, make them more relevant, limit how often you see them, and measure how well they work. These cookies may track your activity across other websites. Yes

3. How we ask for your choice

Flickr uses Osano, a consent management provider, to show our cookie banner and record your choices. You may see the banner load from cmp.osano.com. We show the banner appropriate for the privacy laws where you are:

  • European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, and certain other countries. We use optional cookies only after you allow them. You can accept all, reject all, or choose by category.

  • United States. Depending on your state, optional cookies may be on by default, or off until you allow them. You can opt out at any time.

  • Other locations. In some locations, optional cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time in Cookie Settings. In others, they stay off until you allow them.

Declining optional cookies won’t block core Flickr features. Some preferences, such as dismissed notices, may not be remembered.

4. Changing your choices

You can change your choices at any time. Click Cookie Settings at the bottom of any Flickr page, turn categories on or off, and save. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies used before you withdrew it.

If you are signed in, we save your choices to your account in pseudonymized form and apply them when you sign in on another browser or device. If you are signed out, your choices are saved only in the browser and device you are using, and you will need to make your choice again if you switch browsers or devices or clear your cookies.

We will ask you again when your choice expires: after 12 months, or 6 months for visitors in France and Ireland. We may also ask again if we make significant changes to how we use cookies.

5. Your US privacy choices: Do Not Sell or Share and targeted advertising

Some US state laws treat the use of Targeted Advertising cookies as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or as “targeted advertising.” You can opt out by clicking Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information at the bottom of any Flickr page. You do not need to sign in. When you opt out, we turn off Targeted Advertising cookies.

Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising in that browser. When we detect the signal, we turn off Advertising cookies and show "Opt-Out Signal Honored" in our cookie controls.

6. Advertising frameworks

Flickr takes part in the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) and the IAB Global Privacy Platform (GPP). Through these frameworks, we pass your choices to our participating advertising partners so they can respect them. Osano is registered with the TCF under CMP ID 279. You can see the list of our advertising partners in Cookie Settings.

7. Information we keep about your choices

To record your choices, we and Osano process your IP address, a device identifier, and details of your choice. Those details are the categories you allowed or declined, the date and time, your language, and your country or region. Osano hashes IP addresses before storing them and keeps consent records in pseudonymized form. We keep consent records for as long as necessary to demonstrate the choices you made and to meet our legal obligations.

8. Other ways to control cookies

  • Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. If you block Strictly Necessary cookies, parts of Flickr may not work, and you will see the banner again.

  • Mobile apps. These settings apply to the Flickr website. In the Flickr mobile apps, you can limit ad tracking in your device settings. Use "Ask App Not to Track" or "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS, and "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android.

  • Industry tools. You can also use Google Ads Settings, Your Online Choices in the EU, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. These tools work alongside Cookie Settings. They do not replace it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the date above. If the changes are significant, we will give you additional notice, which may include asking for your choice again.
