Dramatic light over the Brazillian National Congress in Brasilia, Brazil.
As with most of the city's government buildings, the National Congress building was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the modern Brazilian style.

Nikki exudes confidence in this striking portrait, wearing a bold red satin corset paired with casual denim shorts. Her fierce expression, complemented by the dramatic lighting and deep red backdrop, creates a captivating blend of elegance and attitude. Captured in St. Louis, this photo showcases the power of contrast between fashion and simplicity.
A captivating black and white portrait of a woman with long, wavy hair, exuding confidence and natural beauty. The soft lighting highlights her delicate features and the texture of her outfit, creating a timeless and elegant look. This fine art portrait captures both strength and serenity in a single frame.

Enjoyed a great session with Dane Hadley and Madie Reardon last weekend. It was Homecoming, and these two were picked for their 9th grade class. They did great during the session. I'm so blessed to be able to do what I do! I'm truly grateful.
I've been thinking about selling all of my digital gear and going completely with my 3 medium format film cameras. Any thoughts? I'm almost 44 years old, grew up in the film era, and cut my teeth in this portrait business using these medium format film cameras. I love film so much more than digital. I love the entire process. I'm still undecided, but I am thinking hard about it.
Smoke and haze from distant western wildfires create drama in Grand Teton National Park shrouding the mountains in blue and bathing the sky in pink. The golden aspens of autumn dot the landscape below. The view is from the Snake River Overlook.

This is one of the individual flowers that were on the plant I brought home yesterday. I converted the color version of this image to black and white using Nik software's Silver Efex Pro 2. You can see the color version down below in the comments.
Lighting stuff: I wanted dramatic, rather than even lighting, so I used my lights accordingly. The main light was a YN560-II in a 24 inch softbox at camera right, and I used a YN560-III hand held in a Rogue grid to light up the "bit" (a technical botanical term) growing from the center of the plant. Both strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.

Silhouetted against the dying light, these iron and stone crosses whisper the silent stories of lives once lived — guardians of forgotten names, standing still as time slips into shadow.
Siluettées contre la lumière mourante, ces croix de fer et de pierre murmurent les histoires silencieuses de vies autrefois vécues — gardiennes de noms oubliés, immobiles tandis que le temps glisse dans l’ombre.
In the quiet panic of his morning, a panicked Travis slams his finger into the keypad, pressing 0. His hand grips the phone receiver with a white-knuckled, suffocating tightness.
Through the earpiece, a calm, routine voice cuts through the static: "Operator, may I help you?"
Then the glass shatters and time suddenly stopped, 8:10 AM.
The struggle is over, leaving nothing but an ominous, heavy silence in the room. On the other end of the line, completely blind to the tragedy, the operator repeats the protocol into the dead air: "Hello? Is anyone on the line?"

Day 92: SP
Well.. it was hot to me, or maybe I'm getting sick. Hot and cold weather in Southern California going on still.
I edited the bokeh in as a texture because it looked a little.. plain.

Really enjoy this time of year over the lake. We don't get the Autumn colors that the rest of the country gets, but the the sky light is nicely intensified. Above is a wispy Autumn Sunset at Sunset Cove ~ Boca Raton, Florida ~ Florida Everglades
(Was waiting and hoping that the high clouds (above) would light
up and turn bright red...but they never did...they just faded out.)

Day 89: SP
I was up all night again. Not sure why.. but.. I was and decided to take my self portrait. It was pretty chilly last night so that's why I was in a long sleeve.

I wanted a high contrast look for this black and white, and I particularly wanted rim lighting.
Lighting stuff: The rim lighting and backlighting came from a YN560 in a Rogue grid behind and to the right of the flower. I kept adjusting it until I got the look I wanted. Fill light came from a YN560III in a 24 inch softbox at camera left. The strobes, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.
