A shot from last spring when I visited Cape Kiwanda for the first time. This was the final day of the trip where I drove down to Bend to photograph Smith Rock for a few days, then from there up the coast back to Portland.
I wasn’t initially happy with this image, but after learning more processing techniques I think it got closer to what I imagined when taking the image. Hope you enjoy!

For Maine this is a common migratory bird. This was taken in September. I was able see the Greater Yellowlegs quite a few times during this fall migration season, which was a first for me! :)
Taken on Calshot Beach, Hampshire, England, this pebble beach lies on the Solent, west of Southampton Water's Estuary Mouth. It also falls within the New Forest National Park.
Calshot is famous for Calshot Castle, the destination of the first RAF flying boats that flew in England in the 1930s. It was also in the 1930s that it was used as the base for the RAF High Speed Flight, a unit of the RAF that was set up to support the challenge for the Schnieder Trophy.
A cloudy and damp morning put a stop to any spectacular sunrise but a break in the clouds just off to the east gave the beach huts a wonderful glow while the clouds still shadowed the beach itself.
Taken with a tripod and a relatively slow shutter, very little has been tweaked from the original shot.

One of the most beautiful lakes in the Balkans: Lake Ohrid — captured here in the final light of the day. This was one of those shots that I was happily surprised by the outcome. I didn't think it would translate well in photo, but it did! Of all the shots that I took of the "supermoon" I wasn't expecting this one to be one of my favorites.
A dramatic break in the dark clouds lets golden-white light pour through, shaping an almost sculptural, fleeting apparition in the sky.

This morning I was walking in my house to the kitchen, and noticed a beautiful, striking shaft of light streaming from the kitchen window and illuminating the dimly-lit dining room. I knew the light would disappear in a couple of minutes, so I quickly set up my camera. Sure enough, within a few minutes, the light totally changed, but this shot captured the tail end of the striking illumination.
