Tutto sembra attraversato

da forze incontrollabili e travolgenti ...

Iceland Waterfalls are perhaps the country's most recognizable series of attractions. They're everywhere! Its collection of waterfalls rivals any other country in sheer power and raw beauty. The falls range from powerful and wide river-type monsters like Dettifoss, Gullfoss, and Goðafoss to tall and narrow ones like Glymur, Háifoss, and Hengifoss. Moreover, the country sports classic waterfalls such as the rectangular Skógafoss as well as unique waterfalls such as the trapezoidal Dynjandi. And these are just the famous ones! There are countless other waterfalls tumbling by the Ring Road as well as many more that don't even have formal names!

Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is a unique waterfall on the river Seljalandsá, about 30 km west from Skógar. It drops 60 metres (200 ft) over the cliffs of the former coastline. There is a foot path behind it at the bottom of the cliff, but with a thin cascade. It is the only known waterfall of its kind, where it is possible to walk behind it. The waterfall is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars. Seljalandsfoss is situated in between Selfoss and Skógafoss at the road crossing of Route 1 (the Ring Road) with the track going into Þórsmörk. The path at the bottom of the cliff allows you to walk behind the waterfall without getting wet, or nearly not getting wet. It was bit tricky to capture this shot as the water is being constantly sprayed around. I have found one spot where the wind didn't blow so intensively and managed to make 0.3sec exposure to smoothen the falling water.

Of the four possibilities this one is my favorite. If it drives me too crazy, I’ll take it into post processing later to get rid of that tiny hair.

This portion of the little sugar bowl is under two inches and I’ll put up a context picture later to verify that.

Crummock Water - Boats 04-11-2013 IMG_9314bw

I found this small patch of wild sunflowers yesterday afternoon. There was quite a bit of cloud cover so I was very happy when the sun peeked out and gave me a little bit of sidelight. Hope you all have a great week.

Monochrome is the best way to capture the dramatic contrasts in light and shade. The lighting here is all natural as the setting sun shines on this housing estate. In the background lie the mountains that are engulfed in stormy darkness. Between the mountains and these houses flows the Tamar River.

In the photography game sometimes you need to wait for the right conditions. At other times you need to achieve a level of technical skill to execute your vision. Sometimes you need both. This image is one such example. The day was a bust until out of nowhere the sky opened up and delivered. I shot away as it was happening, but when I got home and ran it through various attempts, I couldn't achieve what I wanted. Last weekend I finally achieved the finished product. Hey it only took 3 1/2 years, but sometimes life works like that.

From a technical standpoint this is two exposures hand blended to compensate for the motion that destroyed many HDR attempts.

Šilo Safe Haven Before the Storm

A dramatic landscape photograph captured in Šilo harbor on Krk island, just before a summer downpour. The composition is led by the stone breakwater on the right, guiding the eye towards the calm sea surface and the distinct green lantern (navigation light). The contrast between the stone texture, the quiet sea, and the heavy, rainy clouds in the background creates a strong sense of peace and anticipation.

**Prompt :**

**Prompt:**

A solitary wolf with a dense, dark coat blending deep brown and charcoal black stands motionless in the heart of a lush forest. Its piercing amber eyes lock directly onto the camera with an almost unsettling intensity, as if reading the viewer’s thoughts. Natural light filters through a thick canopy above, casting soft golden highlights across its slightly damp fur, each strand catching subtle reflections from the surrounding greenery.

The environment is richly detailed: vibrant green ferns in the foreground, thick moss carpeting scattered rocks, and blurred tree trunks in the background creating a cinematic depth of field. A faint forest mist lingers in the air, adding a mystical and immersive atmosphere.

The camera is positioned at the wolf’s eye level, using a medium telephoto lens (around 85mm), producing gentle background compression and a natural bokeh effect. The focus is razor-sharp on the eyes, while the rest of the scene softly falls off into a smooth blur.

Visual style inspired by high-end wildlife documentaries and contemplative cinema. Ultra high-definition 8K rendering, hyperrealistic textures, controlled contrast, cinematic color grading with deep greens and earthy tones. The overall mood evokes silent tension, a suspended moment between human and wilderness.

Suggested soundscape: soft rustling leaves, the wolf’s calm breathing, and the near-sacred silence of the forest.

When I turned the camera away from the setting sun things became a lot more dramatic. This small section of suburbia was awash in sunlight, but all around the shadows dominated as the dark clouds rolled over Launceston in the background.

Today I spent the day at the BMW DP Tour at Wentworth, and it’s fair to say we were treated to some hefty rain spells, scattered throughout like dramatic interludes.

At times, the sky would darken suddenly, turning a deep slate grey as towering thunderclouds rolled in with theatrical force. The atmosphere felt heavy, electric—nature’s own commentary on the tournament below.

By the time I got home, golden hour had arrived, casting everything in a warm, forgiving light. I sent my drone up to chase the remnants of those storm clouds that had drenched us all day. This one here was still spilling its raindrops—only now, they shimmered in a soft orange hue, kissed by the sunset.

The town in the foreground is Welling, quietly basking beneath the drama above.

**🎬 Prompt :**

**🎬 Prompt:**

An immersive winter scene set deep within a dense boreal forest, captured as if from a high-budget cinematic production in ultra-high-definition 8K. Soft golden sunlight filters through snow-laden conifer branches, casting volumetric rays that illuminate delicate snow particles drifting through the crisp, icy air.

At the center of the composition stands a majestic adult red deer stag, its rich brown coat detailed with lifelike texture, and its large, symmetrical antlers rising like a crown. The stag is motionless and alert, embodying quiet strength and wild nobility. Nearby, two young fawns with subtle white spots lower their heads gently, foraging beneath a thin layer of fresh snow, their delicate movements expressing innocence and vulnerability.

The forest floor is blanketed in uneven, pristine snow, marked by natural tracks and subtle depressions. Moss-covered rocks and fallen branches frame the scene organically, adding depth and tactile realism. Surrounding fir trees, heavy with snow, create a natural corridor that subtly guides the viewer’s gaze toward the deer.

Cinematic atmosphere with shallow depth of field: sharp focus on the deer, with a soft, creamy bokeh in the background. A faint atmospheric haze enhances the sense of depth and cold. The scene feels almost silent, as if sound itself is softened by the snow, with only the whisper of a cold wind.

Color grading inspired by high-end nature films: cool blue tones dominate, contrasted by warm golden highlights from the sunlight. Hyperrealistic rendering with microscopic detail in fur, snow crystals, and visible breath vapor in the freezing air.

Visual style blending premium wildlife photography with a contemplative cinematic aesthetic, reminiscent of Terrence Malick, with balanced, painterly composition and a poetic sense of stillness.

A shot from last spring when I visited Cape Kiwanda for the first time. This was the final day of the trip where I drove down to Bend to photograph Smith Rock for a few days, then from there up the coast back to Portland.

I wasn’t initially happy with this image, but after learning more processing techniques I think it got closer to what I imagined when taking the image. Hope you enjoy!
