De rivier Vaserul is de vaste begeleider van het spoortracé door het Wassertal. Hoewel de stoomwolken er imposant uitzien is de snelheid van de treinen het dal laag. Door de slechte ligging van het spoor, de hellingen, de te vervoeren ladingen en het wachten op tegentreinen, ligt de gemiddeld snelheid rond de 10 km/h. Een gemiddeld ritje door het dal duurt al snel zo’n 3,5 uur. De foto toont de trein nabij Cozia.

Clouds were coming in, as you can see on this picture, so I stayed a bit longer in Eichberg to get some more colorful shots. Here we see a train operated by CD Cargo, who rents 5370 028 from LokoTrain, who rents this loco from owner CargoUnit. The train is en route from Verona to, I suspect, Győr.

A late-running Richmond-Southwark turn is flying out of Saint-Hyacinthe with 5 EMD horses pulling a healthy 85 cars. Leading the charge is QGRY 3014 (former CN 9480), which has been assigned to the St. Lawrence and Atlantic for a few years.

Le viaduc de Novina est le site le plus spectaculaire de la ligne tchèque 086 Liberec – Česká Lípa. Il méritait une petite randonnée pour atteindre ce point de vue. Le train vient de Liberec et se dirige vers l’ouest. La petite gare de Novina est visible à droite au-dessus du train.

The Novina viaduct is the most prominent engineering structure on Czech line 086 (Liberec–Česká Lípa). It was well worth a short hike to reach this viewpoint. The train is coming from Liberec and heading westwards. The small Novina station can be seen to the right, just above the train.

‘cold steel’ is part of the current exhibition ‘Water’ at the Kunstverein Paderborn. The exhibition is open until 3 August 2025 and shows the results of an international photo project with photographers from Poland, Ukraine and Paderborn.
Almost 10 years ago, on July 4 of 2015, I stood on this exact same spot. 10 years later I tried with different material, reaching a bit higher. And offering a very different view.
The Railtraxx shuttle to Linz had 266 017, aka PB12, as a leading unit. This loco used to run for Crossrail Belgium until a few months ago. It exchanged its red coat for a standard blue Beacon Rail one.

CN's daily Toronto-Halifax box train rolls through mile 50 of the Saint-Hyacinthe subdivision with an eclectic consist, while a work train gets ready to lay CWR on the south track. Consist : CN 8884, CN 2500, CN 5750, CN 9591, CN 4703, BCOL 4646.
What more to expect on the last day of this successful trip? Not expecting much more, we wanted to check out what the Sidi Kacem region had to offer, before heading to the airport. This time, it was Eurorailer and his sharp eye announcing "something green" when passing the station of Sidi Mbarek Rdom. Turns out nez cassé 1302 had broken down and needed to be evacuated. We quickly found a spot just north of the station and waited. Saw some other trains, a herd of sheep crossing the tracks followed by a shepherd, before finally DF 116 showed up around the corner. That was it, we got our long-desired-for "CC72000" running on Moroccon rails.

Eigenlijk was ik per trein onderweg naar een andere bestemming maar het fraaie licht en herfstkleuren deden mij toch besluiten in Klarenbeek uit te stappen. Spurt 260 kwam kort daarna hier voor de lens op weg van Apeldoorn naar Zutphen.

Petit souvenir de l'année 2022 qui fût remplie de photos de trains de tout type.
Pendant mon petit séjour traditionnel des vacances de Noel à Orléans, j'en ai profité des Corails directs Paris / Orléans et en voici un dont je me souviens malheureusement plus du numéro mais je spécule le 14069, assuré ce jour là, par la belle BB 7206 En Voyage avec au crochet pas moins de 12 voitures.
Un cadrage assez atypique pour la gare des Aubrais puisque j'ai dû improvisé pour que cela ressorte à peu près correctement.

Good morning!
A little souvenir from 2022, which was filled with photos of trains of all kinds.
During my traditional Christmas holiday in Orléans, I took advantage of the direct Corail trains between Paris and Orléans, and here is one that I unfortunately don't remember the number of, but I speculate it was the 14069, operated that day by the beautiful BB 7206 En Voyage with no less than 12 carriages in tow.
It was a rather unusual shot for Les Aubrais station, as I had to improvise to get it to come out more or less correctly.

Rechts werkwagen АС1А-1445 uit 1972 en in het midden dieseltreinstel D1-632 onderweg van Solotvyno naar Batovo (Lviv Railway). Ganz-MÁVAG leverde dit treinstel in 1978. Een D1-interieuropname is te zien in het eerste kommentaar hieronder.

The weather during the first weekend of January 2025 is bang-on. On Sunday morning I could catch this empty car train towards Gent, in crispy winter conditions. The empty train will be loaded again at the Volvo factory in the port of Gent, and later this week it will head south again.

A work day in France on June 6th was the perfect opportunity for me to stay a bit longer in this beautiful country. I wanted to go to Miraumont, of which I had seen many nice photos. The Miraumont spot was only good for 2 freights though, as I arrived a bit too late.
I then set off to explore the region around Miraumont and was able to find a few good spots for the many cargo's heading both North and South. I wonder why this was only the first time I came here, as the rural landscape is quite beautiful here and the freight train traffic dense - for France, that is.
The last picture of the day I made when the sun had set. It immediately became one of my favourite shots of that evening.
