We spent this year’s vacation along the coast of lake Garda, in the north of Italy. After the pizza, pasta, and good wine, it was time to spend some hours along the rail line running nearby for dessert. And which place would be more appropriate to go to than Dolcè? Dolcè is located along the freight corridor between Innsbruck and Verona. This beautiful section of the line runs through the vineyards, along the Adige river, with a constant background of tall mountains. On the pictures below I think we can distinguish Rocca Pia with a height of 1.051m. I got served many interesting trains within a timespan of 1,5 hours. The full set of pictures here.
On this picture we see an impressive combo of Lokomotion's EU43-003, 008 and 001 heading train 48867 from München to Verona Quadrante Europa. Dolcè, July 17, 2025.
A colourful consist leads daily Brownville-Montreal freight 251 through Farnham on a gorgeous, nippy January afternoon. Since CP has taken over from CMQ, the mainline through town is no longer within yard limits, and trains can cross town at track speed. Consist : CMQ 3812, BNSF 8087, CP 8759, CP 7022.

De rivier Vaserul is de vaste begeleider van het spoortracé door het Wassertal. Hoewel de stoomwolken er imposant uitzien is de snelheid van de treinen het dal laag. Door de slechte ligging van het spoor, de hellingen, de te vervoeren ladingen en het wachten op tegentreinen, ligt de gemiddeld snelheid rond de 10 km/h. Een gemiddeld ritje door het dal duurt al snel zo’n 3,5 uur. De foto toont de trein nabij Cozia.

Clouds were coming in, as you can see on this picture, so I stayed a bit longer in Eichberg to get some more colorful shots. Here we see a train operated by CD Cargo, who rents 5370 028 from LokoTrain, who rents this loco from owner CargoUnit. The train is en route from Verona to, I suspect, Győr.

A late-running Richmond-Southwark turn is flying out of Saint-Hyacinthe with 5 EMD horses pulling a healthy 85 cars. Leading the charge is QGRY 3014 (former CN 9480), which has been assigned to the St. Lawrence and Atlantic for a few years.
On an otherwise very quiet Boxing Day east of Montréal, CN's daily Toronto-Halifax box train rolls east through Saint-Hyacinthe station.

Le viaduc de Novina est le site le plus spectaculaire de la ligne tchèque 086 Liberec – ÄŒeská LÃpa. Il méritait une petite randonnée pour atteindre ce point de vue. Le train vient de Liberec et se dirige vers l’ouest. La petite gare de Novina est visible à droite au-dessus du train.

The Novina viaduct is the most prominent engineering structure on Czech line 086 (Liberec–Česká LÃpa). It was well worth a short hike to reach this viewpoint. The train is coming from Liberec and heading westwards. The small Novina station can be seen to the right, just above the train.

‘cold steel’ is part of the current exhibition ‘Water’ at the Kunstverein Paderborn. The exhibition is open until 3 August 2025 and shows the results of an international photo project with photographers from Poland, Ukraine and Paderborn.
Almost 10 years ago, on July 4 of 2015, I stood on this exact same spot. 10 years later I tried with different material, reaching a bit higher. And offering a very different view.
The Railtraxx shuttle to Linz had 266 017, aka PB12, as a leading unit. This loco used to run for Crossrail Belgium until a few months ago. It exchanged its red coat for a standard blue Beacon Rail one.

CN's daily Toronto-Halifax box train rolls through mile 50 of the Saint-Hyacinthe subdivision with an eclectic consist, while a work train gets ready to lay CWR on the south track. Consist : CN 8884, CN 2500, CN 5750, CN 9591, CN 4703, BCOL 4646.
What more to expect on the last day of this successful trip? Not expecting much more, we wanted to check out what the Sidi Kacem region had to offer, before heading to the airport. This time, it was Eurorailer and his sharp eye announcing "something green" when passing the station of Sidi Mbarek Rdom. Turns out nez cassé 1302 had broken down and needed to be evacuated. We quickly found a spot just north of the station and waited. Saw some other trains, a herd of sheep crossing the tracks followed by a shepherd, before finally DF 116 showed up around the corner. That was it, we got our long-desired-for "CC72000" running on Moroccon rails.

Eigenlijk was ik per trein onderweg naar een andere bestemming maar het fraaie licht en herfstkleuren deden mij toch besluiten in Klarenbeek uit te stappen. Spurt 260 kwam kort daarna hier voor de lens op weg van Apeldoorn naar Zutphen.
