C'est parti pour ma première session en région bourgogne sur la fameuse ligne impériale avec ses nombreuses circulations.
Nous sommes à Prissey à environ 2,5/3km de Nuits Saint George au sud de Dijon et le calme s'estompe avec le passage d'un nombreux FRET descendants vers Lyon.
En voici un, le fameux ME120 n°43147 Thionville > Perpignan opéré par LINEAS France, avec en tête la BB 37004 dans sa triste robe grise, tractant des wagons cargos et centenaires remplis, bien propres.
De nombreuses photos ont été effectuées un peu partout entre Nuits St George et Corgoloin, sous ce magnifique soleil qui annonce les prémices du printemps.

Good morning!
Here we go for my first session in the Burgundy region on the famous Imperial Line with its frequent services.
We’re in Prissey, about 2.5–3 km from Nuits-Saint-Georges, south of Dijon, and the peace and quiet is broken by the passage of a large freight train heading down towards Lyon.
Here’s one of them, the famous ME120 No. 43147 Thionville > Perpignan operated by LINEAS France, led by BB 37004 in its rather drab grey livery, hauling a string of century-old, fully loaded and spotlessly clean freight wagons.
Numerous photos were taken all along the route between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Corgoloin, under this magnificent sunshine heralding the first signs of spring.

Semmering station didn't work out for westbound trains, but the station of Breitenstein turned out to be the better setting. As the gates of the level crossing closed right before me, I left the waiting to the car and made a quick sprint up the hill, right in time to catch this triplet of 1144's with a westbound mixed freight. The train was just long, and slow, enough for me to get back to my car in time and not block traffic in front of the opened level crossing.

Rien de tel que des poses longues à Paris Austerlitz pour s'occuper lorsque qu'il ne fait pas très beau en journée.
Le 19 janvier fût assez riche niveau Nez Cassé avec des remontés de voitures Corails et autres services comme ce train de nuit composés de voitures couchettes au nombre de 7.
Alors en préparation pour effecuer l'intercité de nuit n°5789 à destination de Briançon, la BB 22328 Béton, alors rutilante , était alors prête, à se lancer dans un long périple.
De quoi conclure cette journée avec le smile.

There's nothing like long layovers at Paris Austerlitz to keep yourself busy when the weather isn't great during the day.
19 January was quite a busy day for Nez Cassé, with Corail carriages and other services such as this night train consisting of seven couchette carriages.
In preparation for the night intercity train No. 5789 to Briançon, the BB 22328 Béton, gleaming in the sun, was ready to embark on a long journey.
What a way to end the day with a smile.

Retour au 12 mars, en région Bourgogne avec les circulations de la ligne impériale.
Encore parmi les nombreux trains de marchandise cliquées, la seule TRAXX choppée de cette longue session, plus exactement la BR 186 307 ex ECR (aujourd'hui DB Cargo), en tête du régulier FRET n°47271 Stiring- Wendel > Perpignan, composé essentiellement de wagons Sins.
Le train est vu à la sortie de la commune de Nuits Saint Georges, non loin de Comblanchien, sous un ciel assez mitigé, ^pur ne pas dire, menaçant.

Good evening!
Back to 12 March, in the Burgundy region, with services on the Imperial Line.
Among the many freight trains I photographed, this was the only TRAXX unit I managed to capture during this long session – more specifically, BR 186 307 ex ECR (now DB Cargo) – leading the regular freight service No. 47271 from Stiring-Wendel to Perpignan, consisting mainly of Sins wagons.
The train is seen on the outskirts of the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, not far from Comblanchien, under a rather mixed sky – not to say threatening.

The fun wasn't over yet. Following the blue sky, I ended up in Breyell on the Venlo - Kaldenkirchen route.
A bit unexpected this grey train came out of the colourful forest. I had to aim fast to capture Rail Force One's 2019 304 that was heading train 44793 connecting Maasvlakte to Duisburg-Wedau.

Retour en février dernier dans le fameux coin de Gazeran que je voulais tester pour les rames Corails TER et OUIGO et autres circulations, sous ce magnifique soleil hivernal.
Passage à vitesse modérée de l'Euro 4005 EUROPORTE, à la traction d'une vingtaine de wagons céréaliers VTG pour l'ouest depuis le port de Gennevilliers.
Voilà de quoi bien terminer cette partie de chasse déjà bien remplie avec les nez cassés Béton immortalisée précédemment.

Back in February, I visited the famous Gazeran area, which I wanted to check out for the Corail TER and OUIGO trains and other services, under this magnificent winter sun.
The Euro 4005 EUROPORTE passed by at moderate speed, hauling around twenty VTG grain wagons bound for the west from the port of Gennevilliers.
That was a fitting end to this already eventful photo hunt, which had previously been immortalised with the ‘broken-nose’ Béton trains.

From October 20 until 26 I managed to sneak out for a couple of days for some good old railfanning action. Weather forecasts were demotivating, but I decided to try to make the most of it. Letting the weather forecast determine my next destination seemed worth a try. Heading to the unknown was good motivation to eventually head off, after dropping the kids at school. An opening between the clouds would be moving east throughout the day and I decided to follow it, looking for opportunities. Number one was only half an hour from home, as BLS Cargo Nord was heading towards Antwerp withtheir daily Zeebrugge-Antwerp shuttle. On Monday 20/8 it was lead by 475 417. Sun and autumn colors didn't disappoint.

Here the Re 620 has another Re 420 or 430 in the power setup and forms an Re10.
Winter was in march 2018 strong for a few days. I used my walk from one office to the other to get a glimpse on the trains.

Alors que la nuit s'était bien installée dans la célèbre gare d'Austerlitz et sa légendaire verrière, les deux derniers services en Nez Cassé et Corails se font mettre en boite dans un croisement improbable.
A gauche, on a donc la BB 22347 ex Corail+ devenue OUIGO et sa rame Corail de même couleur pour Rennes sur le OTC n°4097 et à droite, la condamnée BB 7206 (la plus belle 7200 EV selon les spotteurs) en tête d'une rame Corail TER CVL pour Orléans, sur l'omnibus n°860593.
Une image qui sera bientôt du passé car les omnibus en Corails, seront remplacés par des Omneo (Régio2N) et ne côtoieront plus les ouigo classiques qui, inévitablement, seront les dernières rames tractées du réseau de cette gare parisienne.

A historic NBiK “Rosentaler Dampfzüge” train moves across the fields of the Rosental valley, cutting through a morning heavy with moisture. Steam from the locomotive blends with the mist drifting among the trees and the clouds gathering over the valley. Steam, mist and clouds — three forms of water suspended in the air — fill the scene and shape the mood of the landscape.
The scene unfolds beneath the shadowy line of the Karawanks, where Austria meets Slovenia.

Finalement j'ai eu de l'aide pour Photoshop donc, je suis de retour avec de nouvelles photos!
Le 2 Août fût une session plutôt ordinaire sur LGV , sauf pour ce train là.
Tous les dimanche a lieu le passage d'une navette Eurostar en Amsterdam/ Bruxelles Midi et le parc Disneyland à Marne la Vallée Chessy sur un A/R numérotes 9916 et 9937.
C'était une occasion en or pour moi d'immortaliser cela avec de belles conditions et ce fût le cas avec la rame TGV R n°4532, titulaire de l'A/R, qui est vu à vitesse décroissante, dans le peu connu coin de la commune de Coupvray au nord de MLV et s'apprête à arriver au terminus.

I finally got some help with Photoshop, so I’m back with some new photos!
2 August was a fairly ordinary day on the LGV, except for this particular train.
Every Sunday, a Eurostar shuttle runs between Amsterdam/Brussels Midi and Disneyland Paris at Marne-la-Vallée Chessy on return services numbered 9916 and 9937.
It was a golden opportunity for me to capture this in great conditions, and that’s exactly what happened with TGV R train No. 4532, the regular service on this route, which is seen slowing down in the little-known corner of the village of Coupvray, north of MLV, as it prepares to arrive at the terminus.

Le 26 Janvier dernier, la BB 26227 assurait un des habituels Vintimille - Miramas de la journée, le convoi est vu de passage entre La Farlède et La Garde en fin de matinée.
Still hungry for some trains, we continued to Zeebrugge, hoping to still catch the HSL car train to Germany. We were late though, but there were still some class 66 locos roaming around. We caught RTBC's PB 14 with a car train at the north end of the Pelikaan yard.

Tijd weer voor iets kleurrijks en dat werd gevonden tijdens het blauwe uurtje in de fraaie stationshal van Den Haag Centraal. En voor de treinspotters : het treinstel betreft de SLT 2469.

I honestly don't remember why I went to spend some time waiting at Pepingen. It may have been for a rush hour train that I ended up not seeing... anyway, I ended up with some nice pictures of other passenger trains.

Parti de Vrutky (au nord), ce train (charter historique) se dirige vers Banská Bystrica (à l’est). Il a passé la gare de Cremosné puis le long tunnel sommital de Cremosné (4698m). Le voici qui sort du premier court tunnel situé immédiatement après la sortie est du tunnel de Cremosné. C’est le tunnel Tufenský (50m), dans la montagne.
Entre Čremošné et Banská Bystrica, la ligne comporte 22 tunnels, d’une longueur totale de 12,21 km soit 37% de la distance, dans un paysage escarpé et souvent peu accessible.

Having started from Vrútky in the north, this heritage charter is heading eastward towards Banská Bystrica. After passing Čremošné station, it has passed through the 4,698-metre Čremošné summit tunnel. Here it is emerging from the first short tunnel immediately beyond the eastern portal of the Čremošné tunnel: the 50-metre Tufenský tunnel, deep in the mountains.
Between Čremošné and Banská Bystrica, the line features 22 tunnels with a combined length of 12.21 km, representing around 37% of the route, in steep and often difficult-to-access terrain.

Dopo un’interruzione durata quasi 10 mesi, lo scorso 15 dicembre sono tornati a circolare i treni tra Trento e Borgo Valsugana, sulla ferrovia Trento - Bassano del Grappa. Nelle settimane precedenti la riapertura, tra le stazioni di Roncegno Bagni-Marter e Pergine ha viaggiato un particolare treno merci (per tonnellaggio) composto dai locomotori D345 1082, 1107 e 1032 e da 7 carri di tipo Fals/Falns: un evento più unico che raro che ha attirato in Valsugana appassionati di treni da tutta Italia e non solo. L’obbiettivo di questi treni era quello di assestare il binario dove sono stati posati i primi plinti per i pali della linea aerea (in vista della prossima elettrificazione della linea) e presso Roncegno, dove è stato varato un nuovo ponte metallico.
La foto è stata scattata lo scorso 6 dicembre presso Barco, frazione del comune di Levico Terme.
Car traffic to the port of Zeebrugge has been booming in recent months. Many car trains drive to and from the port 24 hours per day, operated by almost all freight operators present on Belgian rails. On one of the few dry days we've had in weeks, I ventured out into the fields to flash some trains. Besides a Railtraxx and a Crossrail train, I got a Lineas train hauling empties towards the port.

Wednesday March 19 2025 was a very sunny day, and I was glad that I was able to take a day off work. Some interesting traffic to and from the stone quarry of Quenast was announced. First of all, TUC RAIL with a train headed to Schaarbeek, hauled by two class 55 locomotives. These locomotives may have lived their last winter, as rumors go that they will be put out of service later this year.

On continue sur le 22 Avril, dans le célèbre coin de Juilly avec un classique rempli de surprises!
Passage à vitesse soutenue de l'infra Tergnier / SPDC, composé globalement de wagons plats et machines, mené par la vaillante BB 22302 portant la livrée emblématique de cette activité et accompagnée des vieilles mais toutes aussi tenaces BB 67251 et 67253 Arzens puis, pour finir, la BB 27303 ex transilien, récemment affecté au parc.
Voir des 22200 en tête de cette acheminement est, depuis l'arrivée des 27300 comme sur la photo, plutôt rare de nos jours et de surcroit, avec le champs de colza à droite, cela ajoute plus de charme à ce merveilleux cliché, déjà embelli par le soleil printanier.

Good evening,
We continue with 22 April, in the famous Juilly area, with a classic run full of surprises!
A high-speed run through the Tergnier / SPDC infrastructure, consisting mainly of flat wagons and locomotives, led by the valiant BB 22302 in the iconic livery of this service and accompanied by the old but equally tenacious BB 67251 and 67253 Arzens, and finally, the BB 27303, formerly a Transilien, recently added to the fleet.
Seeing a 22200 at the head of this freight train is, since the arrival of the 27300s as shown in the photo, rather rare these days; moreover, with the rapeseed field on the right, it adds even more charm to this wonderful shot, already enhanced by the spring sunshine.

Today I did something that I haven't done in a long time: take a day off to make photos of passenger trains. Passenger. Trains. Really.
The intercity trains between Schaarbeek and Kortrijk are still hauled by vintage 21 and 27 series locomotives. These machines are about my age and as such I've known them all my active railfanning life. They are being gradually withdrawn though, and this realizing was one of the factors deciding to spend a day chasing them. Another important factor being that I had found a lot of nice spot between Oudenaarde and Zottegem during my bicyle rides, but I didn't make photos there yet.
With the locomotives oriented on the Kortrijk-side of the trains, they would only show a sunny face in the afternoon. The morning I spent picturing 2 freight trains on locations I wanted to try out for a while.

First time along line 24, back in 2000. My parents had rented a vacation home near Sint-Martens-Voeren. From the house we could hear the mighty diesel engines crawl up the hill between Visé and Montzen.
With my mom's vintage film camera I spent quite a few hours along the tracks. This brings back good memories, more than 20 years later.
