Waiting for the train at Shibamata, on the outskirts of Tokyo (a very different place from the hustle and bustle of more central areas - and very pleasant).

For the really nerdy ones: the station is operated by the Keisei Electric Railway, this station being on the Keisei Kanamachi Line, a railway line with a total of 3(!) stations, Shibamata being the one in the middle, on a distance of in total 2,5 km. The station opened in 1912 and the Kanamachi line started operating in 1913.

Not even Tokyo station is always crowded and stressful (not even back in 2017 when this was taken).

You know, because there is a lot of blue in this shot. And I miss Tokyo. So...

The train (for those of you interested in such things) is the Yamanote line, circling central Tokyo. You can tell by the green colour.

The Point of Rocks Tunnel, Maryland built in 1902. These are CSX tracks heading towards Harpers Ferry. This is beside the C&O Canal National Historic Park. This narrow stretch thru the Catoctin Range of the Appalachian Mountains became a land battle between the B&O Railroad and the C&O Canal. This was about the time of the Civil War. It was later ruled that they would share the right of way thru the Catoctin Range. #CSX #PointOfRocks #railroad #tunnel #RailroadTunnel #1902

Having patience in the Tokyo rush hour is a must - you might very well come to a completely packed train, and the only thing you can do, is to wait for the next.

Well, not completely true - but the traffic nowadays is just for tourists. This is the station Hultarp on the railway-line between Virserum and Hultsfred, opened in 1921. The whole line become 'byggnadsminnesförklarat' (the most obvious way to translate it would be 'became a listed building', but I'm not sure I would call a railway a building so... don't know how to translate that to proper English) in 2007.

(The map says Totemåla, but that is a little bit further to the east from here, so that is a little off.)

CSX locomotive #900 pulling empty coal cars into the mountains at Point of Rocks, Maryland. I took this from the towpath in the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park. The tracks run parallel to the canal. Trains became the preferred transportation and the canal project was halted. This track was part of the B&O Railroad (Baltimore & Ohio). This train was remarkably quiet. I had less 10 seconds between hearing it and getting the camera ready to shoot. Fortunately I had the camera out to take river pics when I heard the train. #CSX #PointOfRocks #train #locomotive #Maryland #C&OCanalNationalHistoricPark #towpath

At Hamamatsuchō station, Tokyo (if you are wondering, it is that name that is written as はままつちょう on the middle pillar).

No, the platform isn't straight in this shot - but you can't get everything, especially not when you take a photo on the go, just because you like the position of the two sitting men with their phones (that there are three other men in the photo who also happened to be busy with their phones was just a thematically happy coincidence).
