Good morning, everyone! Happy Christmas (Eve day)! Hope you all have a wonderful day today and tomorrow. In Calgary, the temperature is -5C, with a windchilll of -11C, supposedly getting up to 0C (windchill -5C) this afternoon, so we are lucky. What would Christmas be without a snowman? This one was made from a hollowed-out gourd and I just couldn't resist it when I saw it at my local garden centre : ) Stands about 10" high.
For many people, Christmas is a very difficult time, for various reasons. My thoughts are with them and, as always, with those who for one reason or another will spend Christmas alone. To those of you who don't celebrate Christmas, I hope today and tomorrow will be happy ones for you. If you will be on the road, please don't drink and drive!
Today, I am lucky enough to be going looking for owls again, with friends Cathy and Terry. I've never, ever been out this many times so close together, looking for these magnificent birds - three times this week : )
Wishing you all a HAPPY CHRISTMAS and all the very best in the New Year!

Here is where it is Christmas every day, the Community Tree, sponsored by the Christmas Chamber of Commerce, remains decorated all the year. The tree is a native Red Cedar. Christmas, Florida is famed for its postmark.

Our living room....not the same without a fire burning!
If you look closely you can see one of our cats at the lower left corner of the fireplace, one of his favorite spots in the winter.
I'm always a little melancholy when it comes to taking down the Christmas tree and boxing up the decorations for another year. I must have over 100 tree decorations, collected throughout my 22 years living here in Canada, and could tell you where each of them came from and roughly when.
From vintage to modern, from handmade, store bought, or received as gifts, and from craft fairs, thrift stores, weekends away, trips back to England, or craft nights with my sister and niece, there’s a little story and a memory attached to each one – even those that survived up to 15 years with our previous family of five cats, only to be half-demolished within weeks when we adopted our new brood. Those that weren’t completely destroyed by rambunctious kittens, still hang (half-mangled and perhaps missing a limb or two) with equal pride and respect among their newer, shinier, and noticeably less disheveled friends.
Next year I’d like to get better photos and might explain a few of those stories, but for now I'm still dealing with an elbow injury that’s limiting me to just Iphone photos for now, so I couldn't get the pictures I might have done otherwise. That said, I enjoyed playing around with a couple of shots as I carefully packed the decorations away.
I made these for my mother's 50th birthday.
The green is unfortunately a bit too bright but I like it.
BUT they have purple edible glitter on them. :D
Cupcake for my aunt Anna, who always puts a lot of effort into making her Christmas tree gorgeous every year. The tree was fun to do; I used a toothpick to scrape the texture down the sides to give the impression of leaves. Silver dragee ball ornaments. The star on the top of the tree is a sprinkle. I have star-shaped sprinkles in a bunch of different colors.
