Another use for christmas lights, these are very thin 5m led lights. Really had to fight to find the best settings, combination of trying to keep Lily still (1/400) and letting how much light to illuminate the shot.
I like the composition in this photo, letting the right amount of light shine on my daughter and keeping everything else in the dark.
The family Christmas tree adorns lights, ornaments and ribbons this year. Or every year for that matter. The room glows with the lights from the trees inside, and out as you can see from the background lights behind the window.
Look at all those presents. I wonder who they're for?
A varity of different lamps and poles at the Trafford Centre in Manchester! Taken from my youngest daughters spare bedroom window,a very different view to the rural one we have at home!
Woke up and it was snowing, so i decided to try my hand at a cookie splash! As of now it's already melting, can't blame washington.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 and is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. Christians celebrate Christmas Day as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. December 25—Christmas Day—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1870.
Christmas Eve was a very beautiful night. Jamie got Sandra, her and I matching robes. Said she didn't want to start the old whining between Sandra and I that the other one got something nicer.
That were both the same now. And how we've rubbed off on each other. Sandra making me more ladylike in nature. And I making Sandra more a pain in the ass.
She was just kidding, I think....
Now I'm teasing in case she reads this.....
Stayed over by her that night and we used them that night . We got each other several other things but the robes reminded me of my Mother. Every year, she bought the same for all the girls and herself. And they would put on almost immediately and all sit around the tree. I always secretly wanted to have and sit with them. This year I got that wish.....As I said. It was a very special Christmas this year.
Our Christmas Tree. There are decorations that go on the tree year after year & some new ones each year.
I never fully appreciate the tree until I spend some time up close and take in the little hidden places between the branches.

We celebrated Christmas in 1985 at my parent's house in Cordell, Oklahoma.
The cousins around the kids' table.
If you look closely, you'll see that Brian and Bryce have pitted olives on their fingertips. What child doesn't like to eat olives that way?!
Wishing all a very Joyous Christmas season and a blessed New Year!

Sea stars, also known as starfish, are echinoderms belonging to the class Asteroidea. The names "sea star" and "starfish" are sometimes differentiated, with "starfish" used in a broader sense to include the closely related brittle stars, which make up the class Ophiuroidea, as well as excluding sea stars which do not have five arms, such as the sun stars and cushion stars.
Sea stars exhibit a superficially radial symmetry. They typically have five "arms" which radiate from an indistinct disk (pentaradial symmetry). However, the evolutionary ancestors of echinoderms are believed to have had bilateral symmetry. Sea stars do exhibit some superficial remnant of this body structure, evident in their larval pluteus forms.
Sea stars do not rely on a jointed, movable skeleton for support and locomotion (although they are protected by their skeleton), but instead possess a hydraulic water vascular system that aids in locomotion. The water vascular system has many projections called tube feet on the ventral face of the sea star's arms which function in locomotion and aid with feeding. Sea stars usually hunt for shelled animals such as oysters and clams. They have two stomachs. One stomach is used for digestion, and the other stomach can be extended outward to engulf and digest prey. This feature allows the sea star to hunt prey that is much larger than its mouth would otherwise allow. Sea stars are able to regenerate lost arms. A new sea star may be regenerated from a single arm attached to a portion of the central disk. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Thanks, Storm Crypt, for the idea.
This strange ornament was in the new Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. This huge room was full of Poinsettias, which you can see in the reflection. You can also see that several of these long rows of "fused" baubles radiate from a central spot. A peculiar shape, but creates interesting reflections. Hope your Christmas Day is going happily : )
