Christmas lights on an old Ford pickup truck, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA.
Displaying holiday lights on lawns & homes in this San Fernando Valley neighborhood, known as Candy Cane Lane, has been a tradition since 1952.
We came to know of this local spectacle when my wife happened to stumble upon this on MSN news' Must-see December 2013 slideshow
Our son Brian and his family celebrated Christmas 2011 with us at our home in Richmond, VA.
The julenisse (Christmas elf) in the center of the table was the first Christmas gift we received from our Norwegian cousins in 1999.
The china was also a gift from our Norwegian cousins. The pattern is 'God Jul' (Merry Christmas in Norwegian) by Magnor Porselen. The pattern with julenisser (Christmas elves) was designed by Lars Carlson.
The table cloth was my Swedish grandmothers.

Nuremberg (German: Nürnberg) is the second-largest city of the German federal state of Bavaria after its capital of Munich, and its 511,628 (2016) inhabitants make it the 14th largest city of Germany. On the Pegnitz River (from its confluence with the Rednitz in Fürth onwards: Regnitz, a tributary of the River Main) and the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal, it lies in the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia, and is the largest city and the unofficial capital of Franconia. Nuremberg forms a continuous conurbation with the neighbouring cities of Fürth, Erlangen and Schwabach with a total population of 787,976 (2016), while the larger Nuremberg Metropolitan Region has approximately 3.5 million inhabitants. The city lies about 170 kilometres (110 mi) north of Munich. It is the largest city in the East Franconian dialect area (colloquially: "Franconian"; German: Fränkisch).
There are many institutions of higher education in the city, most notably the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg), with 39,780 students (2017) Bavaria's third and Germany's 11th largest university with campuses in Erlangen and Nuremberg and a university hospital in Erlangen (Universitätsklinikum Erlangen); Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm; and Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg. Nuremberg Airport (Flughafen Nürnberg „Albrecht Dürer“) is the second-busiest airport of Bavaria after Munich Airport, and the tenth-busiest airport of Germany.
Staatstheater Nürnberg is one of the five Bavarian state theatres, showing operas, operettas, musicals, and ballets (main venue: Nuremberg Opera House), plays (main venue: Schauspielhaus Nürnberg), as well as concerts (main venue: Meistersingerhalle). Its orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg, is Bavaria's second-largest opera orchestra after the Bavarian State Opera's Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich. Nuremberg is the birthplace of Albrecht Dürer and Johann Pachelbel.
Nuremberg was the site of major Nazi rallies, and it provided the site for the Nuremberg trials, which held to account many major Nazi officials.

Christkindlesmarkt is a Christmas market that is held annually in Nuremberg, Germany. It takes place during Advent in the Hauptmarkt, the central square in Nuremberg’s old town, and in adjoining squares and streets. With about two million visitors a year the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany and one of the most famous in the world. Every year the Christmas market begins on the Friday preceding the first Sunday in Advent and ends on December 24, unless that day is a Sunday.
I have never experienced a real Christmas tree as a child. We've always had a 5-foot plastic tree (from BHS) that my mum has had since the '80s. When I moved out, in all the time that I lived in Eastcote and other places, I don't recall having a Christmas tree.
This year, I purchased my very first real tree – it has only taken 28 years, and it's tiny and it is now sitting on the top of the piano (we don't have space for a real tree to take up floor space). It turned up in the post, courtesy of Bloom & Wild, and it came with some decorations and lights. Unlike the plastic put-together-yourself tree I've been used to, this one hurt a little bit putting it together as it was a bit prickly.

The Christmas tree is one of the most popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. Normally an evergreen coniferous tree that is brought into a home or used in the open, a Christmas tree is decorated with Christmas lights and colourful ornaments during the days around Christmas. An angel or star is often placed at the top of the tree, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story.

Emi and I started to get the preparations for Christmas. This will be the first Christmas of my girls and everything must be perfect, simply because I love Christmas and I hope they will too.
Emilly: Mom! Where do I put these boxes, here has many boxes!

The elusive Christmas Snowflake Fairy is a favorite of mine for many years now. She pops into our home around this time of year to brighten up the room. She has an un-canning way about her, as she changes from blue to green to red to white. She makes it very hard to capture a picture of her. But as luck would have it the new digital's have made it much easier to see the little Lady as she passes through. It seems when she comes out, the snow comes with her. ... Keep a watch, she may be floating somewhere in your home over the holidays.
She wishes everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.

I believe this old store was originally a small chapel. Currently it is a unique store of artisan goods and has been since the late 1970's or early 1980's... You can't miss this beautiful place when passing, especially with the old Late 20's Ford Model A Pickup Truck sitting on the lot.
