Our Christmas tree was in good shape, but we were eager to clean the house up a bit. Rather that tossing it on the curb where it magically disappears, we put our to good use by chopping the limbs and tossing them into our compost bin.

We got turned on to composting after our 2005 visit to Vancouver Island and seeing black gold soil in a bin in Ucluelet. The city of Scottsdale offers these black bins (made of recycled plastic), and we've been composting in the desert the last 2 years. It takes a bit longer, but we get good soil for our veggie garden.

In Norway there is no such thing as spare ribs, there are only ribs!

We celebrated Christmas 2001 at our home in Richmond, Virginia.

So I decided to create this image last night because for one I absolutely love christmas! and two I have missed putting up the christmas tree 2 years in a row at home (which makes me sad), So heres my virtual christmas tree put up! And I fancied a more frivolous, light hearted photo for a change! Anyway, I hope you all have an amazing christmas and a fabulous new year!! love from Holly-Rose Photography xx

This is the single most important view each Christmas season. The view of the mantle from the Dining Room doorway is special. Always quite different, this year continues that tradition. This is the first year for the Nativity, and for the white train under the fireplace.

A look at the Christmas sets from previous years shows just how varied this image can be.

Photographed using only available light, and a very long exposure. Shooting data: Nikon D7000. Nikkor 18-55mm lens set at 24mm. 20 seconds @ f/25. EV = -2/3. ISO 500. WB set for cloudy weather / natural light.

I hope you enjoy this Christmas view of the Victorian 'front' room.

Thanks for the holiday greetings by way of Christmas cards, comments, tweets, FB messages, emails, etc. Appreciate them all. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas as well.

So I wanted to get a shot similiar to the one from two years ago, since i forgot to do one last year. So I told the girls to stand there and point to their favorite one. Jessie picked the one from my friend Kerry. And Sydney picked one from her friend (and school mate) Kayla and her family. :)

Some really awesome cards up there. I really need to step it up next year. Mine were pretty weak compared to several of the ones we received.

The hamlet's unusual name is of uncertain origin. It is variously ascribed to a 1643 Christmas Day truce between combatants in the English Civil War

This year, as our Christmas tree, we opted for branches that I pruned from our apricot tree. Here, on Christmas Eve, the flower buds were swelling.

This girl and her friend were terrible singers but I thought she looked really cute with this Christmas hat on.

YAY! Just one more week until Christmas!

Poor Joey has caught a pretty nasty 'bug' and is home sick. I can remember being sick at Christmas as a kid, it sure stinks! I hope he gets better soon and doesn't give it to his Mommy and I. ;-)
