"When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy, And the dimpling stream runs laughing by; When the air does laugh with our merry wit, And the green hill laughs with the noise of it."

~Lord Byron

Back in 2002, someone threw a lit cigarette out one of these gondolas, igniting the Heavenly Gondola Fire, which burned 260 acres and threatened to overwhelm South Lake Tahoe.

Couldn't resist this - but focus a bit soft - does it matter?

Upon exiting the subway station on Thanksgiving day on my way to a dinner at a friend's, my first thought was "what a celestial sunlight this afternoon". One minute later, this beautiful energy materialized and froze in my frame...

Sunset, Suisun Marsh, Solano County, Northern California.

The Suisun Marsh is the largest contiguous brackish marsh remaining on the west coast of North America. It is a critical part of the San Francisco Bay-Delta estuary ecosystem. Encompassing 116,000 acres, the Suisun Marsh includes 52,000 acres of managed wetlands, 30,000 acres of bays and sloughs, 27,700 acres of uplands, and 6,300 acres of tidal wetlands. It is home to public waterfowl hunting areas and 158 private duck hunting clubs. The Suisun Marsh serves as the resting and feeding ground for tens of thousands of wintering and migrating waterfowl and provides habitat for more than 221 species of birds. The Suisun Marsh supports more than 40 species of fish and 80% of the state's commercial salmon fishery by providing important tidal rearing areas for juvenile fish allowing them to grow twice as fast as those reared in the upper watershed (improving their survival). The Marsh is also home to the endemic Tule Elk, and Federally Endangered Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse. The Marsh's large open space and proximity to vast urban areas makes it ideally suited for wildlife viewing, hiking, canoeing, and other recreation opportunities.

Heavenly Kids (by Chesca)

A mature male Snowy Owl hovers with the winter sky providing a "heavenly" backdrop.

Operations image of the week:

This vivid image shows China’s space station Tiangong-1 – the name means ‘heavenly palace’ – and was captured by French astrophotographer Alain Figer on 27 November 2017. It was taken from a ski area in the Hautes-Alpes region of southeast France as the station passed overhead near dusk.

The station is seen at lower right as a white streak, resulting from the exposure of several seconds, just above the summit of the snowy peak of Eyssina (2837 m altitude). Several artefacts in the original have been removed.

Tiangong-1 is 12 m long with a diameter of 3.3 m and had a launch mass of 8506 kg. It has been unoccupied since 2013 and there has been no contact with it since 2016.

The craft is now at about 280 km altitude in an orbit that will inevitably decay some time in March–April 2018, when it is expected to mostly burn up in the atmosphere.

“Owing to the geometry of the orbit, we can already exclude the possibility that any fragments will fall over any spot further north than 43ºN or further south than 43ºS,” says Holger Krag, head of ESA’s Space Debris Office.

“This means that reentry may take place over any spot on Earth between these latitudes, which includes several European countries, for example.”

“The date, time and geographic footprint can only be predicted with large uncertainties. Even shortly before reentry, only a very large time and geographical window can be estimated.”

The station’s mass and construction materials mean there is a possibility that some portions of it will survive and reach the ground.

In the history of spaceflight, no casualties from falling space debris have ever been confirmed.

ESA is hosting a test campaign to follow the reentry, which will be conducted by the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee, a grouping of the world’s top space agencies including ESA, NASA and the China National Space Administration.

Have a great Monday, everyone!

The Bedroom is equipped with a heavenly bed and a fireplace, lit up six small windows, located on the sun-side of Vianden castle in Luxembourg. the castle was constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries on the foundations of a Roman 'castellum' and a Carolingian refuge. It is one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the romanesque and gothic periods in Europe. Until the beginning of the 15th century it was the seat of the influential counts of Vianden who could boast their close connections to the Royal Family of France and the German imperial court.

Romantische hemelbed in het kasteel Vianden. Hemelbedden hebben een overkapping ("hemel") en kunnen vaak met een gordijn worden gesloten waardoor men beter beschermd wordt tegen vliegende insecten en nieuwsgierige blikken.

Nandina domestica, February, picked over by birds, pushing through a handrail in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.

I wish you good week to all friends !

driving to visit the inlaws and this was the sight

This Odontoglomsum Orchid was taken while attending Orchid seminar,

There is nothing more beautiful and delicate that stays in bloom for so long, unfortunately only blooms once a year, well at least they have beautiful foliage:-)

The scientific name is derived from the Greek words odon (tooth) and glossa (tongue), referring to the two tooth-like calluses on the base of the lip.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

We took the boys out for a sunny afternoon yesterday. Skeeter sure enjoyed himself!

From the Jetty, I stand alone.... in graditude for the increasing sunset and the calm and quiet waters before me.

"That spiritual power I wear is much more beautiful and much greater. We call it wisdom, knowledge, power and gift of love. There are these four parts to that spiritual power. So I wear those. When you wear that power it will beautify your mind and spirit. You become beautiful. Everything that Tunkashila creates is beautiful." ~ Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA

When I was young, I asked my grandfather, "What should I pray for?" He thought for a long time and then he said, "Pray only for wisdom and for the knowledge of love." This makes a lot of sense. No matter what happens I ask the Creator to show me the lessons I should be learning. I pray for Him to help me learn the lessons. By doing this everyday we become beautiful human beings.

Great Spirit, grant me Your wisdom.

* patience * ~ song lyrics by take that

www.youtube.com/watch?v=txtq29e7KQo&feature=related

Just have a little, patience

I'm still hurting from a love I lost,

I'm feeling your frustration,

But any minute all the pain will stop,

Just hold me close inside your arms tonight,

Don't be too hard on my emotions

(Chorus)

Cause I, need time,

My heart is numb, has no feeling,

So while I'm still healing,

Just try and have a little patience,

I really wanna start over again,

I know you wanna be my salvation,

The one that I can always depend,

I'll try to be strong, believe me,

I'm trying to move on,

It's complicated but understand me,

Cause I, need time,

My heart is numb has no feeling,

So while I'm still healing,

Just try and have a little patience yeah,

Have a little patience, Yeah

Cause this scar runs so deep,

It's been hard,

But I have to believe,

Have a little patience,

Have a little patience,

wooh

Cause I, I just need time,

My heart is numb has no feeling,

So while I'm still healing,

Just try, and have a little patience,

Have a little patience,

My heart is numb has no feeling,

So while I'm still healing

Just try and have a little... Patience

Fluffy pillows in the sky Drifting, dancing, passing by White as snow or grey as lead Clouds above, an endless spread

Changing shape with every breeze Floating free with such great ease Majestic beauty, ever proud Clouds above, a wondrous crowd.

* Glowing Inside * song lyrics by Nikki Gil

www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tODHLp52kU

Happy, to let you know

You make me glow

I feel so good, it's true

So glad that I have you

You love me so

Now all is bright

I'll always thank you for the glow

And thank you for the joy

Thank you for the love you give to me

I'm glowing, glowing inside

With your love shining through

Thank you for everything you do

I'm glowing inside because of you

Remember, my growing years

They're filled with joy

Because you're there for me

You cast my fears away

You wipe those tears

You gave me strength each day

I thank you for the glow

And thank you for the joy

Thank you for the love you give to me

I'm glowing, glowing inside

With your love shining through

Thank you for everything you do

I'm glowing inside because of you

Who knows of what tomorrow brings

My glowing wings can make me fly

I'll reach and now I touch the sky

Because of you I'll sore up high

So I must

Thank you for the glow

And thank you for the joy

Thank you for the love you give to me

I'm glowing, glowing inside

With your love shining through

Thank you for everything you do

I'm glowing inside because of you

Our shadows captured as we were treading rather carefully on Glacier du Dolent, on our way to Mont Dolent 3823m/12543ft, that unique peak where three countries merge, namely France, Italy and Switzerland

Seen the evening of 9/11...

A Heavenly tribute to the victims and their families.... God Bless...

Finally a nice sunset. With the all the sunny days we've been having and no clouds the sunsets have been bland and boring, until recently. I actually set out with my lenses, filters and tripod and when I got to the this site, I realized that I had forgotten my 5D3. No worries, as I had the X-100 in the camera bag.

It was a clear night and at 4am, the Milky Way was directly above Tickenham Church.

Not as spooky as a I thought it was going to be stood in a graveyard in the dark.

The last resting place of the Swedish monarchs and aristocracy. The Riddarholmen Church was built in the late 1200s. Version 2 with adjustments.
