This image forms part of the digitised photographs of the Ross and Pat Craig Collection. Ross Craig (1926-2012) was a local historian born in Stockton and dedicated much of his life promoting and conserving the history of Stockton, NSW. He possessed a wealth of knowledge about the suburb and was a founding member of the Stockton Historical Society and co-editor of its magazine. Pat Craig supported her husbandâs passion for history, and together they made a great contribution to the Stockton and Newcastle communities. We thank the Craig Family and Stockton Historical Society who have kindly given Cultural Collections at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, access to the collection and allowed us to publish the images. Thanks also to Vera Deacon for her liaison in attaining this important collection.

Today we follow musicians and the people of Ballyfermot gather together to thank and show our appreciation for all that Francie Conway has done and for his valuable contribution to our community over 37 years.
Singer/Songwriter/Producer, who left Kerry as a young man in search of his dream.
That search brought him halfway round the world performing, recording and rubbing shoulders with the cream of musicians and performers.
His writings and many albums are a testament to his skills as a artist and performer.
He has collaborated with some of the greats in the Music Business, too many to mention here.

All of what I have said so far tells us of the work that Francie has done down through the years, here in Ballyfermot and abroad. But, what about the man, the person. Francie is more than what he has done or achieved.
The Francie I know is a Kerry man, who have having travelled half the world, found his way to what Finbar Furey once described as a small little fishing village just outside Dublin, called Ballyfermot.
I know that Ballyfermot and the people of Ballyfermot have a special place in Francie’s heart.
He is man of faith, a man of peace, gentle and kind and this comes through in his songs.
Francie’s devotion to his family and his care and love for his son, Rory, can only be admired. He has turned Rory into a rock and roller. And when ever the pair of them are around, mark my words, before the day is out you will hear their anthem, PEACE, LOVE AND ROCKNROLL.

Eileen Chiasson-Pendergast, Patrick Curley, Wanda MacLean, Paul H. Schurman and Isabel Yuill were recognized for their community leadership, spirit, and commitment to making Prince Edward Island great.
“Through their tireless volunteer efforts, mentorship, community activities, fund-raising, advocacy and overall positive attitude towards life, these Islanders have made a sustained and lasting impact on Prince Edward Island for the benefit of us all,” said Isabelle Christian, Chair of the PEI Seniors’ Secretariat.
The Senior Islanders of the Year award are given out annually to recognize the significant contribution of Island seniors in community life including volunteerism, artistic achievement, fund raising, community participation, fitness and recreation, and other activities. The recognition program is overseen by the PEI Seniors’ Secretariat.

Having skimmed through the research article on aetheric theory as it applies to so-called Paranormal activity in Winterfell, I decided to ask a resident his opinion on the matter. I turned to Mr. Dingo Utorid, who lives in a mist-shrouded, de-consecrated chapel, with the expectation that he would have witnessed the "dark aether" firsthand. "Magnetism!" scoffed Mr. Utorid. There are NO vampires here, despite what you may have heard." And with that, Mr. Utorid stalked off into the gloom, trailed by a black wolf.
The LEGO Foundation and UNICEF support conflict-affected children in Iraq through play
Baghdad, 16 December 2015 – UNICEF Iraq received a contribution from the LEGO Foundation that will help give around 50,000 children in Iraq a chance to play and learn. The organizations welcomed the contribution of 4,800 boxes containing LEGO play materials. The donation is part of the three-year global partnership between UNICEF and the LEGO Foundation signed in early 2015. Through the partnership, the two organizations promote quality early learning through play for children around the world. While play helps children address stress, it also performs a critical role in the development of the intellectual, emotional, social and creative skills needed to build the foundation for human development and lifelong learning.
Iraq has seen decades of conflict. Currently, nearly 3 million children have had their education disrupted, and nearly 1 million are internally displaced. Furthermore, over 100,000 Syrian children have taken refuge in Iraq.
Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Ján Kubiš, reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to children. “Many Iraqi children bear emotional scars from the violence around them, but it is those rendered homeless by conflict who suffer the heaviest consequences. Millions of children, in camps for displaced people and refugees as well as those in host communities have limited or no access to education or recreational activities. It is with their predicament in mind that UNAMI and UNICEF called on LEGO for assistance to extend children affected by the crisis in Iraq with a combination of study and play in the form of creative toys, which might be the first for many of them since they lost their homes and possessions. The donation from LEGO Foundation should be a reminder to Iraqi politicians of the responsibility they share for the future generations, who deserve to live a life of peace and normalcy.”
Generations of children in Iraq have grown up in the midst of conflict, and have witnessed unimaginable acts of extreme violence and have been displaced from their homes and communities. Some children have been displaced multiple times as conflict reaches their new homes. “The opportunity given by the LEGO Foundation should also be used to call for more support to humanitarian programmes, particularly child protection,” Kubiš added.
Representing UNAMI at the delivery ceremony in Baghdad, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Gyorgy Busztin appealed to the Iraqi politicians to think about the children of Iraq as they “are the hardest hit by violence and lack of stability. Their fate needs to be the responsibility of all decision makers. We want for them a happy future, away from violence, conflict and displacement in a country that provides equal rights to all its men, women and children. We want national reconciliation for Iraq that will give back to the children of Iraq what they were deprived of, play, learning and happiness, in other words a full childhood. The LEGO toys will teach them to build so that in the future they will be able to reconstruct their villages and towns ruined by terrorism. They will prove that building is superior to destruction” added DSRSG Busztin.
“The negative impact of this crisis on children cannot be over-emphasized,” said Peter Hawkins, UNICEF Representative in Iraq. “Continuing violence has cheated millions of children of their fundamental rights to safety, education and play. Many children have come into this world and grown up knowing only displacement and conflict. The donation from the LEGO Foundation is one positive step forward, allowing some of the most disadvantaged children to play and learn in a fun and safe environment and become the next generation to build a better future for Iraq.”
“Play is the most effective and inspiring way for children to acquire the skills needed to create new possibilities and meet the many challenges of the future. In the midst of violence and instability, playing and education can help to alleviate trauma for conflict-affected children,” said Mirjam Schöning, Global Head of Programmes and Partnerships at the LEGO Foundation. “Through play, children can address stress and develop physical, intellectual and social skills, as well as creativity. Together with UNICEF, we work to put a stake in the ground for children and their development through quality play-based learning.”
The LEGO play materials will be distributed to 538 schools, 46 community centres and 8 child-friendly spaces across Iraq, giving over 50,000 children access to learning activities. The LEGO Foundation and UNICEF will provide training to build the capacity of teachers, facilitators and community members who will then guide children through LEGO activities as part of the initiative.

Celebrating Birth Anniversary of Late Rosario Rodrigues
TAG, Tiatr Academy of Goa presented Lifetime Contribution Awards for Khell/Khell tiatr. Every year on 24th October, Tiatr Academy of Goa, presents Lifetime Contribution to Khell-Tiatr Awards to five veteran tiatr artistes who have given their valuable contribution to the tiatr stage (Khell-Tiatr).
This year, the awards are conferred on five well-known Khell tiatr personalities Socorina Fernandes (Socu ferns, w/o Roseferns), Assumta R Fernandes (Asumtin), Luis Victor Quadros (stage light effects), Jose S.C.Cardoso (Musician) and Joaquim J Fernandes (Jaju, b/o Roseferns).
The awards were presented at a special function organized on 24th October 2021 at Pai tiatrist Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

The Kelso Depot Historic District, including the depot and its associated landscape features, is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Criteria A (because of its association with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of American history) and C (because it embodies the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction and possesses high artistic architectural values).
The Kelso Depot was constructed in 1924 to address a variety of needs specific to the Union Pacific Railroad. It served as a traditional passenger depot for purchasing tickets, waiting for trains, handling baggage, and arranging express shipments by the Railway Express Agency (later REA). The depot also served as an office from which trains were dispatched, especially helper service for trains heading eastward from Kelso to the top of Cima Hill, a steady uphill grade of approximately 19 miles that required trains to take on fuel and water as well as a helper locomotive and crew before attempting the run. Second, the depot served as a round-the-clock restaurant facility for passengers, employees, and residents in the railroad town. At that time, second class or secondary passenger trains were not equipped with dining cars, thus necessitating a facility that would provide a quick and reputable food service for passenger trains making a meal stop at Kelso. A third, and somewhat unusual, function to be included in a depot building was provision for hotel/lodging accommodations, primarily for railroad employees but occasionally for non-railroaders who were stranded in Kelso for the night if rooms were available. The fourth function, which was also unusual to include in a depot building, was to provide recreational facilities for the employees to keep them entertained in this isolated desert outpost, and consequently, to keep them out of trouble. The depot was one of the most important buildings in Kelso, and served at times as a "community center" for the remote railroad town. Although the advent of modern, high-horsepower diesel locomotives led to closure of the depot facility functions in 1964, the depot structure remains a tangible link to an older period of railroading. Thus, the Kelso Depot provided essential services to the successful operation and modernization of the Union Pacific Railroad's main line link between Salt Lake City, Utah, and Los Angeles, California.
The Kelso Depot is significant at the state level with a period of significance extending from 1923 to 1964. It is an excellent and rare example of a surviving mid-1920s-era Mission Revival style railroad depot with a hotel/restaurant facility and designed landscape on the Union Pacific Railroad in California. It was an essential element in the modernization of the Union Pacific Railroad during the 1920s, and it served as a significant element in that rail line's contribution to the American war effort during World War II. The end of World War II marked the beginning of a long decline in the depot's utility. The sharp decline in the volume of freight traffic resulted in reduction of services and the need for fewer employees. The nearby Vulcan Mine, which produced more than 2 million tons of iron ore for the Kaiser steel mill in Fontana during the war, closed in July 1947, further reducing freight and passenger traffic through Kelso. A surge of high traffic levels occurred on the Union Pacific line with the outbreak of the Korean Conflict in the early 1950s, but this heightened activity soon declined.

The CSIS Energy and National Security Program is pleased to host Joseph Aldy, Associate Professor of Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and Elliot Diringer, Executive Vice President at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) to discuss current and expected Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) in advance of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP21, to take place in Paris later this year. Sarah O. Ladislaw, Director and Senior Fellow in the CSIS Energy and National Security Program, will moderate. The Paris 2015 conference--the next conference under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change adopted in 1992--is highly anticipated around the globe but is yet another step on the longstanding pathway to coordinated global action. As was determined in Durban, South Africa in 2011, the goal of negotiations is an agreement with legal force that is applicable to all. Each country has been subsequently charged with arriving in Paris with predetermined climate goals, in the form of an Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC). Following an overview of the content and purpose of the INDCs, the expert panel will discuss comparability between already submitted INDCs, those yet to come, and the accompanying Measuring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) processes.
This session is the second in a series of workshops designed to explore core issues in the negotiations process as well as gauge progress towards energy related climate goals on the ground in various countries.

Over 1,300 personnel from all three armed services, veterans and cadets made the 2019 National Armed Forces Day parade in Salisbury the largest one to date. Originally conceived as Veterans Day, the name of the event was changed in 2009 to National Armed Forces Day to celebrate the contributions of both past and present members of the British Armed Forces. Taking place on the last Saturday of June, the parade is one aspect of a whole weekend where the national lead event is hosted by a different town or city each year around the UK.
The national event was held from 28 to 30 June 2019 in Salisbury and hosted by Wiltshire Council and its council leader Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE.
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne reviewed the parade on 29 June 2019 of more than 1,300 service personnel, cadets and veterans and took the salute on the dais in front of the Guildhall, accompanied by the Mayor of the City of Salisbury John Walsh, as the procession went by. The parade was preceded by a fly past by the Red Arrows at 10 am. The parade was led by a detachment from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, followed by bands and marching contingents from the three armed services, veterans and cadets and finished with the British Army units which hold the Freedom of the City of Salisbury.

There was no Dragon Boat Festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year. This year we have vaccination and most of the restrictions for the COVID-19 are relaxed. The Dragon Boat Festival held on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Every year the festival is held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park for two days. This year is no different except this year is only one day. The festival is free admission but it requires the attendees must have fully vaccinated or with proof of a negative covid test within 72 hours of the event.
The festival of this year is focused on three major issues: vaccination/public health safety; HKDBFNY's contribution to the reopening of the NYC economy; and bringing a focus to the anti-Asian + other hate crime issues. NYC Mayor's Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, New York City Commission on Human Rights, NYPD Hate Crime Task Force, Northwell Business Employee Resource Group were addressing the current Hate Crime Issues in NYC in the festival.
There are multicultural performances, such as The Chinese Music Ensemble of New York, Dance China NY from the New York Chinese Cultural Center, CASYM STEEL ORCHESTRA from the Bronx, martial arts performance from Shaolin Temple, and Wandering Master storyteller Jonathan Kruk telling Dragon Tales. In addition to the entertainment performance, the Food Trucks provide food for visitors and community-based organizations provide local service for any attendees.
NAIMISHARANYA
Naimisaranyam, also known as Neemsar, Nimsar or Nimkhar is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu located in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.[1] It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars. The temple is believed to be of significant antiquity with contributions at different times from the ruling kings. The temple is counted as one of the eight temples of Vishnu that self-manifested and is classified as Swayamvyaktha Kshetra. The temple is open till 6pm. The holy tank Chankra Kunda is associated with the temple and it is a pilgrimage centre where people take a holy dip during festive occasions
Sage Narada is believed to have searched for the best theertha (water body) in three worlds. He went to Kailasa, the abode of Shiva, then to Parkadal, the abode of Vishnu and finally landed in the water body in the Naimisha Forest. The central deity is also believed to be worshipped by sudharma and devas(celestical deities).[1][2]
Indra, the king of the devas, was once driven out of devaloka by an asuranamed Vritra. The asura was the recipient of a boon whereby he could not be killed by any weapon that was known till the date of his receiving the boon and additionally that no weapon made of wood or metal could harm him. Indra, who lost all hope of recovering his kingdom went to seek the aid of Vishnu. Vishnu revealed to Indra that only the weapon made from the bones of the sageDadhichi would defeat Vritra. Indra and the other devas therefore approached the sage, whom Indra had once beheaded, and asked him for his aid in defeating Vritra. Dadhichi acceded to the devas' request but said that he wished that he had time to go on a pilgrimage to all the holy rivers before he gave up his life for them. Indra then brought together all the waters of the holy rivers to Naimisaranya, thereby allowing the sage to have his wish fulfilled without a further loss of time. Dadhichi is then said to have given up his life by the art of yoga after which the devas fashioned the Vajrayudha from his spine. This weapon was then used to defeat the asura, allowing Indra to reclaim his place as the king of devaloka.[3]
As told in another legend, when sages were planning to perform penance, Brahma, the god of creation, brought out a ring from darba grass. He asked the sages to perform penance at the place where the ring fell, which is believed to be Naimisaranya. The sages performed penance and at the end of it, Vishnu appeared to the sages and accepted their offerings. It is believed that the forest still has Vishnu and all sages as trees
Naimisaranyam is located at the junction of the roads from Sitapur and Khairabad, 32 km from Sitapur and 42 km from the Sandila railway station, 45 miles north of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Naimisaranya is also known as Nimsar or Nimkhar and is located on the left bank of the river Gomati.[5] The sacred well, namely Chakra Kunda is believed to have started from the weapon of Vishnu, Chakra. There are shrines dedicated to Chakranarayana, Ganesh, Rama, Lakshman
This place has also been visited by Sankaracharya[8] and the famous poet, Surdas resided here. Suthar, the author of 18 puranas is believed to have lived here and presented his sayings to the sages. The temple is classified as a divyadesam, the 108 Vishnu temples that are revered in the Vaishnava canon.
Every new moon day, a large number of people purify themselves with a dip in the holy well. If the new moon falls on a Monday, it is believed that a holy bath in the well and offering to the presiding deity Lalitha will wash away all the sins committed in their lifetime

This is a photograph from the 2nd round of the 2017 Pat Finnerty Memorial 5KM Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 10th May 2017 at 20:00. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Following on from the great weather from last week's race this evening's racing was no different - a beautiful summer evening with little or no breeze. About 220 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

We hiked this part of the road- it is actually a riverbed that doubles as the country road into the Els Ports near Beceite. They evened out the bedrock with concrete to make it useable for cars- wouldn't want to try this during a flashflood! LOL

STI Contribution to Policy Making on Natural Disaster Resilience: Better STI, Better Resilience, Better Competiveness
Chile is proposing an initiative to foster a policy partnership ecosystem in APEC economies that aims to put STI-based evidence at the heart of policy and practice to improve the resilience on disaster of natural origin.
Government policy is a major factor in driving preparedness and resilience to better cope with disasters of natural origin in order to mitigate the impacts vis-à-vis domestic innovation and economic development. Governments’ policies also play a vital role in creating the conditions for a functioning ecosystem in which collaboration between science and businesses may flourish. In this project, Policy makers and stakeholders from APEC economies will identify their major challenges regarding the contribution that STI can make to the policy making process on natural disaster resilience.
This initiative is intended to contribute to the development of more resilient economies by means of supporting new research and innovation capabilities vis-à-vis the response and preparation of the people to better face the effects of the hazards of natural origin. It will analyze what policies governments have developed to support the decision-making process for natural disasters resilience based upon scientific evidence. This action will explore how to fully engage stakeholders and researchers in domestic policy-making process facing natural disasters preparedness, management and resilience.

This is my contribution to the My Little Pony Project 2012 show, May 5th, 2012. All of the artists were provided with a blank 18" G3 My Little Pony to customize however they wished. For the past few shows, I have been exploring other ideas and techniques in my work. I consider this a return to my ongoing Forest of Sorrows narrative.
This piece was created using polymer clay, epoxy, metal, wood and painted with acrylics. The Mon Petit La Mort ghost girl is removable and sits in place with the use of hidden magnets.

To get this shot or at least prepare myself for a chance at an inflight shot I pre focused on the nest. I then watched the female's reactions as she would turn her head in the direction the male was coming and then start to call. With my pre focus set I would shift my comp to the right or left and the moment he would enter the frame I would fire off a few shots.
I havent edited all my shots from the weekend yet but I think this one was my fav. I've always wanted to have an inflight shot of an Osprey bring nesting material.. well my planning and hard work paid off :)
Another contribution to my Adelaide Buildings collection... My Fuji F11 does a pretty good job of low light photography and since I often ride home from work after dark I notice some buildings look more attractive then... like the recently renovated Maid & Magpie Hotel which the owners have done their best to make alluring to potential customers. I certainly think it is a smart stone and brick building typical of its period.
