"Live Tomorrow"

It's cold around me, the night is young

The sun has fallen

And I've become the lonely one

The moon is dancing among the clouds

And my knees are shaking

And my dreams are braking

But I know I live

But I know I live, today

I know we could live tomorrow

(live tomorrow)

But I know I live today

I know we could live tomorrow

But I don't think we should wait! No

I know we could live tomorrow

But I know I live today

I know we could live tomorrow

But I don't think we should wait! No

I know we could...

Taking my life in my hands!

(the power who has it?)

Taking my life in my hands!

(the power who has it?)

I don't like to wait! No, no...

It's happening, It's happening...

I don't like to wait! No, no...

It's happening...

I know we could live tomorrow

But I know I live today

I know we could live tomorrow

I am sharing these pictures with you all because I think it is so important to spread awareness around cancer. It can affect anyone, and most of us will in some way in our lives be affected or touched by it, either we ourselves could become a victim of it, someone we know, or someone dear and close to us. But also because there is hope in the darkest of times.

"Bright Lights"

HAEVN

Your words are high and running through a tired mind

A howling wind surrounds you

I'm trying to illuminate a clouded heart

I'm gonna find the strength to stay

Feel we're gonna break out

At the last step now

Feel we're gonna break out

I really wanna see your face, and I see

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me home

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me home

Your hands are high and floating through a darkened sky

So many eyes around you

The distant sounds as neon sparks light up my heart

I'm gonna find a brighter day

Feel we're gonna break out

I really wanna see your face, and I see

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me home

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me home

You shut your heart and shut my door

You shut your heart

When I say hold me, when I say hold me, when I see

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me home

Bright, bright lights, bright lights to guide me

I know may of you have in some way or the other felt Cancer close up, either had Cancer your self or know of somebody who is or has been fighting the battle of cancer. Even though some dont make it trough the battle, we must always remain hopeful that there is hope. That is why we have to keep up the work in finding ways to fight this disease, by awareness and research that can help fight the disease.

I am crying as I write this, because I am thinking of those I have lost in my RL as well as in SL. But I know that those I have lost would want me to stay positive and hopeful, and to love and live my life to the fullest each day, because we never know what tomorrow brings. I also want to dedicate this picture in memory of our dearest Beautiful Angel Amber who lost the fight against Cancer, she was the most positive, loving, caring and most uplifting person I have ever met in the virtual world of Second life, She will always be missed and never be forgotten, she will always be in our hearts, as well as to my dear Uncle who also passed away too soon, due to Cancer.

"Better Days"

There's a light at the end of the tunnel

Keep your eyes on the road ahead

But if you're feeling lost in the night

It's okay to cry

Just as long as you hold your head

'Cause we're on our way to better

Better's ahead, better's ahead

It get's worse 'fore it gets better

But better's ahead, better's ahead

Better days are comin' (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh, better days)

Better days, better days (Better and better and better, oh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Better days, better days)

I know you've been kicked down

Slept on, let down, faith gone

Waited for too long for something to lean on (Lean on)

You feel weak, just be strong (Ooh)

Deep breath, stay calm

If you just press on, press on, press on

You gon' see there's a light at the end of the tunnel (At the end of the tunnel)

Keep your eyes on the road ahead (On the road ahead)

And if you're feelin' lost in the night (Lost in the night)

It's okay to cry (It's okay to cry)

Just as long as you hold your head

'Cause we're on our way to better (Aah)

Better's ahead, (Better) better's ahead (Aah)

It get's worse 'fore it gets better (Ah-ah-ah)

But better's ahead, better's ahead

Better days are comin' (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh, I know, I know)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh)

(Better days, better days) (Better and better and better, ooh-ooh)

Better days are comin' (Ooh-ooh)

(Better days, better days)

I know you feel left out and stepped on

Keep goin', keep goin'

Shine bright, don't dim yours for no one

Keep goin' higher, and higher and higher and higher

(Because there's better)

Better days, better days are comin' (Better days)

Better days, better days (On their way) are comin' ('Cause I know)

Better days, better days (Better days) are comin' (Yeah)

Better days, (Oh) better days are comin' (I know)

Better days are comin'

My contribution to this week's theme In the sky in the group Fotosöndag.

This is my contribution to the Earth Day theme. It is a very uncomfortable photo of our so earth, our forest and our nature. This is the resin national park.

At first I couldn't believe it when I saw this. Then came the sadness and finally horror and anger. The damage is devastating and irreversible. There is almost no living tree left in the resin national park. How is it possible that such a highly technologized and I thought also advanced country fails on such an unbearably wide scale?

Through ignoring, there was never any protection of the naturally occurring resin mountain spruces. These include: years of deceiving the public. Climate change is not the cause, but merely an amplifier. In addition, there is counterproductive management behavior. The National Park management overrides by disregarding professional recommendations. Of course, economic and political failure also plays a significant role here. The dramatic consequences are unmistakable today on huge deadwood areas. What still follows from it is not foreseeable. The human being and his interference with nature. Get well soon, Hans, we are looking forward to when you will be back as group admin and also with new photo contributions to the MM group :)

Something I've always wanted to photograph with the extension tubes in order to get really close, but never got it quite right. Well, it's still far from perfect, but at least I managed to get a fairly sharp image of these tiny honeycomb cubes (size of each cube: 2x2 mm / 0,07x0,07 inches) this time. They are inside of a small orange spoke (or rear) reflector, a scratched, battered thing that must have fallen off a bicycle. I picked it up in the street one day, because I thought it might be useful for Macro Mondays one day. I've already used this once before for a theme, the "Lit by Candlelight" theme from December 2017 (you can find the photo in the third comment, I was too slow ;) ). And since Hans is Dutch, and the Netherlands are a bycicle country, I thought the reflector might be an appropriate subject for the Oranje / Orange theme :)

I've used both extension tubes (which gave me 26 mm on top of the 60 mm from my macro lens), the Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens and a +4 close-up filter. The result reminds me of an optical illusion, because I can see both the cubes and the honeycombs, but not at the same time. I hope it's not too confusing to look at. I had to do some extensive dust and "scratch bokeh" removal (some of the many scratches on the plastic surface appeared as bokeh spots, but not nice ones, when I focused on the inside of the reflector) with the healing brush to make it pleasant to look at, and only when I applied a slightly matte look in Analog Efex it looked right to me.

I have a very busy day today, so I hope I can catch up with you tonight. HMM, Everyone, stay safe!

Jan Hus was a Czech church reformer executed in 1415. His teachings had a profound influence on the history of the Czech nation.

Jan Hus’s contribution to the development of the Czech literary language was the introduction of diacritical marks, such as: č, š, ř, ž, á, í, é. The purpose of this innovation was representing each sound by only one symbol and eleminating digraphs (sounds represented by two letters).

The inscription on the monument reads “Milujte se, pravdy každému přejte”, which means more or less: “Love one another, wish the truth to everyone”. This is a shortened version of a quote from one of Hus’s letters from prison. The day of his execution, July 6th, is a public holiday in Czechia (Jan Hus Day).

One of quite a few taken for this week's theme so still trying to decide, it will be one of those occasions I decide on the bus in to work!

Done!!

I keep reliving MM challenges, this week sweet spot and inspired by a song!

Contribution to MM challenge for 4/3/18, theme "Jewelry".

Slightly tricky challenge due to the number of times I've used jewellery in the past, not least as my Flickr avatar, but not helped by the fact my partner and I are living 200 miles apart at the moment so I can't raid her jewellery!! And I've already used my mother's wedding ring

This is all mine though and is one of those things that is never taken off. The star I bought on a school trip to France in the early 80s and the necklace it's attached to my sister bought me for my 18th. It's a while now to be wearing the same 2 chunks of metal around my neck!!

This is my contribution to Macro Monday Group. The theme is: “Redux 2019”. I chose to redo the “chain” theme. This time I took another chain and also, I used my new extension tubes (which I absolutely love by the way!! Best Christmas gift ever !!!). And voilà! I hope you like it as much as I do!

Happy MM !! HMM !!

And thank you so much for your comments /favs and support! I’m humbled and grateful!!! I wish you all an amazing day and see you on Flickr!!

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend.

Have a nice Holiday.

possible/probable contribution to MM challenge for 10/8/20, theme: "Water"

Didn't have as much time as I would have liked for this one so not my original idea but still one of the highest deletion rates I've had for a MM challenge for a few years!

Didn't set out to do a monochrome shot but as the final image was so close anyway I just gave it a gentle nudge over the line.

Focusing was a huge PITA for this as the focal point kept moving and I was using a wider aperture than normal and a much higher ISO to get a half decent shutter speed. Sure I'm not the only person that faced these issues!

This is my contribution to Color my World Daily Group. Today, the color is.... green! And also, today, I'm getting back on the wagon of eating healthy! Is that a New Year’s resolution? Absolutely not! I'm just back on track and I have exactly 5 days to make my pants fit like before Christmas time (I’m going back to work)!!!! Wish me luck!!!

*******

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated, and I will try to catch up with all your beautiful photostreams and return the favor!! Have a great day my Flickr friends!!

contribution to MM challenge for 13/7/20, theme: Spiral

Quite possibly not technically spirals - but they might be!

Villoslada de Cameros is a municipality and town in the autonomous community of La Rioja, Spain. The municipality, located in the region of Cameros, has a population of 348 inhabitants (INE 2023).

It is part of the region of Cameros, specifically in the sub-region of Camero Nuevo, located 50 km from Logroño on the N-111 road, which crosses the municipal area at kilometre 286.

The extensive municipal area occupies a good part of the northern face of the Sierra Cebollera, which includes the natural park of the same name. The Iregua River, which rises in the territory, forms a deep valley in its descent from south to north, receiving the contribution of the numerous streams in the area and the Mayor River. To the west, the Frihuela and Castejón mountain ranges, integrated into the Iberian System, form a limit, together with the Sierra Cebollera to the south, with the province of Soria. In Villoslada there is an interpretation centre for the Sierra de Cebollera natural park.

The highest point of the municipality is a huge plain called La Mesa (2168 m) which it shares with Lumbreras de Cameros. The second highest point, which gives its name to the mountain range, is the Cebollera peak (2141 m), shared with the municipalities of El Royo and Sotillo del Rincón. The town centre is 1072 m above sea level.mar.

contribution for MM challenge for 29/7/19, theme: "Made of Wood"

Such a broad theme - the sort I find difficult but this was going to be the olive board which I've used for quite a few other snaps before. But to get the full benefit of the grain patterns would take more than 3 inches. So trying to keep it simple I went with the most familiar and common thing made of wood and set them against the aforementioned olive wood board. Double wammy!!

Contribution to Macro Mondays challenge for 23/4/18 - theme "Plastic"

Something I had wanted to try for some time is the process of cross polarisation. So a while ago I 'acquired' a couple of clear plastic forks from the work canteen but left them sitting. Then the MM challenge this week created the perfect opportunity and this is one of the results.

For anyone not familiar with the process you basically need a light source (computer monitor is ideal), some plastic and a polarising filter.

99% of this image was created in camera. I will admit to pushing the vibrance, luminance and saturation up a little. The background was actually pure white turned black by the polariser.

Contribution to MM challenge for 11/2/18, theme Holes

My first though when I read the challenge was of picture I took some time ago, I think for a different challenge. I laughed when I saw said picture included in the gallery of examples!

I went through a hole host of ideas for this challenge but was pushed for time so settled for the kitchen table with food. A hole lot easier than what I had planned for the bath

contribution to MM challenge for 3/2/20 - theme: "The Odd One"

The subject matter doesn't (or shouldn't!) need any explanation other than these are some of my partner's hobby tools.

The title is a direct take from the 70s sitcom featuring one of the best characters of all time - Arnold. That said I have no idea if it has stood the test of time, but he certainly was an odd one!

contribution to Macro Mondays group for 23 Jan 2017 - "It's A-Peeling To Me"

Partially inspired by the cover art for the debut album by Velvet Underground & Nico.

Wishing all my WTBW friends Congratulations for our Third Anniversary! Thanks to you all for your wonderful artistic contributions for a better world over the past 3 years. Hopefully, in a small way we make a difference.

Let's all reach out beyond the divide and come together in kindness, tolerance, understanding, love, help, respect, positive thinking and actions, compassion and embrace our differences, my friends!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

OK, here's my contribution to the recent stream of fuzzy fledgling Owl postings.

I first encountered nesting Great Horned Owls in this open space eight or ten years ago and it's been a constant producer of adult and fledglings. A few weeks ago I finally found the elusive nest. I tried to get images of the chicks in the nest, but only got a few low quality images in fading light. I returned the other day and found the nest empty. After searching for half an hour I heard a fledgling call out and was able to locate this one...again the light was failing but I was able to get a few shots before dark.

My contribution to this weeks theme "edge" in the group Macro Mondays.

The quarry hospital was built in 1860.

It was mostly maintained by the mens own contributions to a sick club.

The club provided free medical care a weekly

payment due to absence from work

through sickness or injury, a small payment on retirement and burial expenses.

It was one of the first buildings to have hot and cold water and electricity.

It closed in 1962 and was later restored by Gwynedd Council re-opening as a Visitor centre in 1979.

MM contribution for 25/3/18, theme: "Hot or Cold"

Again I'm not a massive fan of themes with such a large scope as I find them difficult to narrow down. In fact talking to my partner about what I was doing she came with with about another 20 suggestions!!

What this did give me though was the opportunity to try out quite a few things. I fell foul of living at both ends of the country again because my zippo isn't 'here'!

So to catch a match just as it catches. Easy (really???). And I didn't even get through a whole box! Apparently they burn at around 800c - I think that qualifies as hot?!. And have a light temp of around 1500K which leads on to...

...strobist bit: 1 SB900 set to manual at 1/20, positioned to the left and firing toward the background. Using dark amber gel with WB set to tungston.

A simple contribution for this theme; a single pin (singles were seen in the sample gallery) lying flat on a white piece of card in the shadow of a plastic "crystal" bottle stopper purchased from a charity shop for this very purpose. This is a crop of about a quarter of the frame.

Taken handheld(!) in bright sunshine with the Helios 44M on about 5cm of extension tubes at f/8. In post -processing, I've added a blue colour to the shadow with some complementary orange to the pinhead. I've then brightened the central (horizontal) band of the image to keep the eye on the pinhead and not drift upwards.

my contribution to the thousands of shots of the Hohenzollern castle, all shot from the same vantage point...

My contribution to this weeks theme "through thick and thin" in the group Fotosöndag.

Contribution to MM challenge 6/3/20, theme needles and pins

Thought this might be easy having done pretty much the same thing before for the eyes theme way back when. However the realisation that all the sewing kit is still in London...

This became a technical exercise in capturing something as a 1:1 image that can actually be seen so in come the extension tubes! Basically I couldn't see the hole in the needle even with glasses on!

One note on the image - it isn't actually monochrome!!

contribution to MM challenge 8/6/20, theme "OnACoin"

Don't even know what the flowers are - they grow wild all over the place (like weeds!!!) but 3 of them fit easily on to a pound coin. Well I say easily - they are a pain to get to sit where I want them...
