Last week's family weekend took place near Paliseul. I couldn't resist the beautiful light on Thursday, and rightfully so. Only a few seconds after it came around the corner, I could make this shot of train 44841 to Thionville. CFL's 3014 is helping out Lineas' 1307.
Only a few hours later the cloud cover took over until the end of the weekend.

After a refreshing night in Fès - I love riads - we left for a full ay along the diesel line bewteen Fès and Taourirt. Weather was looking great and we headed straight to the region where we left the day before: the barrage Idriss 1ier. The chosen photo location was top class. Blue lake, hills, and underneath the recent bridge you can see the bridge of old alignment of the railway line. What will make us remember this location even more, is the encounter with a railway employee while waiting for the train. Very friendly man, and once he learned that we're Belgian, he started shouting "Roi Baudouin". Constantly. Even from inside the bridge deck, where he had to work. Hilarious :).
ONCF GT26-CW2 Ouled Ayad 18.5.2017
Op de voorgrond vertrekken twee gekoppelde metrostellen van het Rotterdamse vervoerbedrijf RET naar Hoek van Holland. Op de achterste sporen komen twee nieuwe CAF-treinstellen vanit Den Haag het station Schiedam Centrum binnen. Het achterop lopende treinstel heeft nog een blauwe afleveringsbeschildering van de kop. Het weede treinstel is aangepast en heeft een beter zichtbare gele beschildering gekregen. Tussen de metroviaducten en de sporen uit de richting Den Haag liggen de ongebruikte sporen van de spoorlijn van Schiedam naar Hoek van Holland.
Achter het station Schiedam Centrum is de skyline van Rotterdam zichtbaar. Het markantste herkenningspunt is de Euromast die in het midden van het beeld de horizon domineert. Rechts in beeld zijn de drie torens van het voormalige Europoint-complex aan het Marconiplein zichtbaar.

The festivities weren’t over yet. A short walk led a bit closer to the tracks, with still another view on the magnificent background. Can’t get enough of it.

Voor speciale ritten waren in Syrië in 2002 nog stoomlocomtieven van de Chemin de Fer de Hedjaz Syrie (CFH) rijvaardig waaronder deze 90 van fabrikant Hartmann uit 1907. Op de zogenaamde Libanonlijn van Damascus naar Serghaya passeert de excursietrein de spectaculaire Barada-kloof bij Teqieh. Meer foto's van de voormalige Hedjaz Railway met een spoorwijdte van 1050 mm zijn te vinden in mijn Jordanië-album.
A charter train headed by steam locomotive 90 (built by Hartmann in 1907) of the Chemin de Fer de Hedjaz Syrie (CFH) between Serghaya and Damascus near Teqieh along the Barada-river. More pictures of the former Hedjaz Railway with 1050mm gauge can be found in my Jordan-album.

A picture to always remember Belgian weather conditions in the first half of January. By dressing warm, wearing a water-tight vest and protecting the camera it was actually rather pleasant waiting for this cargo.
We see Simon safely leading his car train to France. Train 46362 left Gent-Zeehaven 20 minutes earlier, and still has a long time to go before arriving in Busto Arsizio.
Le 29 Juillet dernier, la BB 22275 assurait l’un des habituels Naviland pour Fos Graveleau. Parti avec une quarantaine de minutes de retard de l’agglomération Lyonnaise, le convoi est ensuite retenu presque une heure à Avignon.
Les ombres gagnant alors du terrain au fur et à mesure, il a fallu rapidement trouver un coin encore éclairé, c’est donc juste après l’ancienne gare de Graveson Maillane que le convoi est vu, quelques minutes avant que le soleil ne disparaisse définitivement.
After an overnight trip from Halifax through a storm front that dumped over a foot of snow in some locations, VIA Rail's westbound Ocean pulls into Drummondville with a pair of F40PH's leading the usual mixed HEP/Renaissance consist.
There were still a few locations we wanted to do before heading north. This one with the "launching platform" of Settat (in reality it's a Holcim plant) being of them.

After stopping to line the south yard track switch back to normal position, CP's daily Brownville-Montréal train is rolling into Farnham. After a long trip from Jackman, this crew will perform a setout and a lift at the north end of the yard before calling it a day and letting another crew take over for the turn to St. Luc yard in Montréal. The 3812 was apparently added in Maine after problems with one of the road units arose. Consist : CMQ 3812, BNSF 8087, CP 8759, CP 7022.
Le 11 Juillet 2019, la BB 22389 était en tête d’un Naviland en provenance de Vénissieux et à destination de Fos-Graveleau, le convoi est vu sur la branche Avignon - Miramas via Cavaillon, de passage à Orgon en milieu de matinée.
It was, again, a very hot day and I didn't feel like sitting at the pool from early on. I'm sure my son, if he could speak, would have said exactly the same thing. So I took him to Rouffach with the airconditioned car, where we set up gear and a playing blanket under a large umbrella.
It was a day in France that felt almost like a day along the tracks in Belgium. 4 out of 6 freights came from Belgium, and on top of that I met the guys from Trainbelge.

After the short visit to the Liège – Luxemburg line, we headed towards line 24 for some freight trains from Germany. On Sundays, after 3pm, a whole bunch of trains that had been waiting in Germany head into Belgium.

The start of a new day, again with a passenger train. Compared to last nights's train, the doors are closed. It was indeed still cool at this moment of the day.

On a spectacular winter morning, a CP crew tasked with bringing train 251 from Jackman to Farnham is pulling into the town of Magog with a trio of the company's finest candy apples in charge of 95 cars. Here, the track briefly follows the Magog river before veering northeast towards the mighty Mount Orford. Consist : CP 6232, CP 6262, CP 6258.
