A transfer from the Dutch national railway museum in Utrecht to a depot in Blerick was spotted at the bridge crossing the river Lek near Culemborg. In the middle of the heritage train was the mail trailer Pec 8502 from 1938 which I spotted as well - numbered as 1902 - during its last week in regular service in 1979 - picture attached in the first comment below.

CP's business train rolls through downtown Magog, where it skirts the Magog river for about half a mile before turning northwest towards the mighty Mount Orford.
The open days in Brugg mean that you have many steam engines under fire.
So here the small shunter for the shuttle is being shifted to another track. All machines in the background are under fire.
Happy new year to all!
A timely heads-up from a befriended train-driver was all the motivation required to prepare the night gear again and put into practice the lessons from previous times.
The subject: an empty grain train from Antwerp to Tergnier, operated by Lineas.
The train was running a bit earlier than expected and I had to hurry to set up the gear on time. For some reason one of the flashes didn't fire correctly, and there was no time to correct it anymore. Anyway, I'm pleased with the result: sharpness is good now, and the flash range is still fullfilling expectations. Next time I'll foresee more buffer time to make sure all flashes do what they're supposed to.

Arriva EMU's 408+505 on their way from Dordrecht to Geldermalsen still enjoy a colourful sky and reflection 15 minutes after sunset.
Suggestions for improvement of this picture are most welcome.

Last picture of the day: the evening passenger train to Casablanca.
What else to remember: the versatility of our rental car when it comes to uncap a bottle.

Today I did something that I haven't done in a long time: take a day off to make photos of passenger trains. Passenger. Trains. Really.
The intercity trains between Schaarbeek and Kortrijk are still hauled by vintage 21 and 27 series locomotives. These machines are about my age and as such I've known them all my active railfanning life. They are being gradually withdrawn though, and this realizing was one of the factors deciding to spend a day chasing them. Another important factor being that I had found a lot of nice spot between Oudenaarde and Zottegem during my bicyle rides, but I didn't make photos there yet.

In the fields in Ras El Ain, we could get a full view of one of these mighty phosphate trains. The nez cassé locomotive fits the brown-yellow landscape really well.
Also notice the vintage Mercedes "Grand Taxi", that you find all over the place.

We only had to wait shortly to see this train running to one of the ports.
With the Japanese Hitachi loco hauling the French Alstom loco, 2 competing companies today, it's an interesting view.
