Le chemin de fer Darjeeling Himalayan Railway ou chemin de fer himalayen de Darjeeling — surnommé le "toy train" (train jouet) — est une ligne de chemin de fer de 88 km qui grimpe de
Siliguri (gare de 'New Jalpaiguri', à 121m d'altitude) jusqu'à Darjeeling (2076 m d'altitude), dans l'État indien du Bengale-Occidental.
La ligne atteint son point culminant à Ghoom (2258 m d'altitude) avant de redescendre à Darjeeling.
Construite de 1879 à 1881, elle est classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. L'écartement des rails, de type 'voie étroite', est de deux pieds, soit 61 centimètres.
Une locomotive antique à vapeur, crachant la fumée, emmène les touristes de Darjeeling à Ghoom pour un voyage pittoresque, à une vitesse moyenne inférieure à 10km/h.
Par moment, les rails sont directement sur la route. On voit des maisons et boutiques juste au bord de la voie.

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway - nickname "toy train" - is a 88 km (55 mi) railway line which climbs from
Siliguri ('New Jalpaiguri' station, 121 m above sea level - 480 ft) up to Darjeeling (2076 m - 6812 ft), in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The line peaks at Ghoom (2258 m - 7407 ft) before descending to Darjeeling.
Built from 1879 to 1881, it is classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The railway has a two feet (61 cm) gauge (type 'narrow gauge').
An antique steam locomotive, spewing smoke, takes tourists from Darjeeling to Ghoom for a scenic trip at an average speed of less than 10 km/h (6 mi/h).
From time to time, the rails are directly on the road. We see houses and shops right on the edge of the rails.

Off season the Tuesday trains on the Chemin de Fer de Viverais - Train de l'Ardèche - terminate at Colombier-Le-Vieux station where the loco is turned on the "pont tournant".
This shot of Mallet compound 0-6-0-6-0T 403 was taken after arrival but before turning and running round. The trains run along the beautiful Doux valley and climb some steep gradients (the driver told me the steepest was 1 in 4 but something might have been lost in translation).
Tijdens de 85 kilometer lange reis van Sankt Pölten naar Mariazell worden de reizigers van de Mariazellerbahn getrakteerd op fantastische uitzichten vanuit de trein. Bij ‘kilometer 70’ komen de reizigers één van de fraaiste bouwwerken van de Mariazellerbahn tegen; het 116 meter lange gemetselde viaduct over de Saugraben.
Helaas zijn bij de Mariazellerbahn dezelfde zonden begaan als op andere bergtrajecten in Oostenrijk; bij saneringswerkzaamheden van de viaducten zijn in het verleden rijkelijke hoeveelheden beton gebruikt. Het fraaiste viaduct van de lijn - het Saugrabenviadukt - heeft de monumentale status gekregen. Om die reden is het viaduct op authentieke wijze gerestaureerd, dus steen voor steen.
De foto toont locomotief 1099.14 met het maximaal aantal rijtuigen aan de haak dat mogelijk is op het bergtraject; vijf stuks. De trein klimt tijdens het passeren van het Saugrabenviadukt naar het station van Gösing, het hoogste punt van de lijn.

(EN) Train meeting at the station of Visnja Gora, just after noon of 10/04/2015. The railcar 715 105 has already continued its journey as regional train 3212 towards Ljubljana, while 661 032 still awaits its departure as a light engine to Novo Mesto.

L92 is a GWR 5700 Class Pannier Tank and it was number 5786 prior to its sale to London Transport n 1958.

(EN) During the summer, locomotives of the 2044 series are swapped between Split and Zagreb operational area almost on a daily basis. Thanks to the night trains to Zagreb, locomotives, which are actually located in Split, come to use onto routes in the Croatian inland. One of them was 2044 029, which spent at the end of August and beginning of September 2015 several weeks on the main route from Zagreb to Varazdin. That was also opportunity to capture the locomotive, which was not very common in this area. Here we see it on 10/09/2015 with the regional train 3006 to Varazdin, just entering the Hum-Lug stop.
(DE) Während des Sommers stehen bei den Lokomotiven der Reihe 2044 Standortwechsel beinahe an der Tagesordnung. Mit den täglich verkehrenden Nachtzügen nach Zagreb gelangen Loks, welche eigentlich in Split beheimatet sind, ins kroatische Inland. So auch die 2044 029, welche Ende August und Anfang September 2015. für einige Wochen auf der Hauptstrecke von Zagreb nach Varazdin eingesetzt wurde. So gelangen auch einige Aufnahmen von der Lokomotive, welche in dieser Gegend nicht allzu häufig anzutreffen war, hier sehen wir sie am 03.09.2015. mit dem Regionalzug 3006 nach Varazdin, bei der Einfahrt in die Haltestelle Hum-Lug.

Chemin de fer à vapeur des Trois Vallées (CFV3V): this association operates a tourist railway between Mariembourg and Treignes, in a stretch of 14 km on the line 132. This line was put into service between 1852 and 1854. The passenger service was suspended in 1963, and the freight service in 1971. The first tourist trains ran between Nismes and Treignes in 1976 and from Mariembourg in 1977. The association CF3V has a workshop in Mariembourg (with the last turntable in service in Belgium) and a museum in Treignes.
The workshop at Mariembourg. Left, the 2-6-0T steam locomotive ELNA 158. Was built by Henschel in 1940 for the Teutoburger Waldbahn (number 154), sold in 1952 to the Kleinbahn Kaldenkirchen-Brüggen (number 158) and in service until 1972. It was later used by the Dutch tourist railway Goes-Borsele, and finally by the CF3V.
Transports en commun lyonnais (TCL, operated by Keolis Lyon): the only metro line in the world equipped with a rack system is line C of the Lyon network. Five two-car EMUs, built by Alsthom and SLM and put into service in 1984, are in service here.
Here we see the EMU formed by cars 201 and 202 leaving Croix-Paquet station towards Cuire.
(EN) In 2015 the 2044 020, which was in best condition, with its characteristic, black-yellow snowplow was a desirable photo opportunity on the diesel lines around Varazdin. In the afternoon of 12/05/2015 it was hauling the regional train 3015 from Varazdin to Zagreb. On that day, as usual, the train was composed of five compartment cars in the actual color scheme, and was captured in the long curve just before the entering the station of Zabok.
(DE) Im Jahr 2015. war die bestens gepflegte 2044 020 mit ihrem unverkennbaren, schwarz-gelben Schneeräumer ein gern gesehenes Fotomotiv an den Dieselstrecken rund um Varazdin. Am Nachmittag des 12.05.2015. war die besagte Lokomotive an der Spitze des Regionalzuges 3015 von Varazdin nach Zagreb. An jenem Tag war der Zug aus wie üblich aus fünf Abteilwagen in der aktuellen Farbgebung zusammengesetzt, und wurde von mir in der langen Kurve kurz vor der Einfahrt in den Bahnhof von Zabok bildlich festgehalten.

Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP): on the section of RER B that belongs to the RATP, a train leaves Massy-Palaiseau station in the direction of Aéroport Cahrles de Gaulle 2. It consists of the EMUs Z 8264/8263 (type MI79A, owned by the SNCF) and Z 8308/8307 (type MI79B, owned by the RATP). Both are in "STIF 2009" colors.
