Over the last few days, I have uploaded some old photographs (most of them from 2006-2010) that had been mistakenly left out while I was re-uploading all those old photos from 2006-2020, which I have been doing for most of this year (2021) in order to catch up. I expect I will soon be finished with these few left over oldies.
In the meantime, I do my best to caption them as best I can, given the time that has elapsed, and the fact that most of them have ben stripped of part or all of their EXIF.
And because I need to upload those older photos in the morning, I will also keep uploading daily 3 or 4 of my 2021 shots in the late afternoon or evening. Once again, as I have said this before, my apologies for such a tremendous rhythm, and my renewed and very sincere thanks to the people who have been kind enough to follow up and keep visiting all over this crazy year that has been spent catching up on 15 previous years of photographic activity...
Just south of Lyon, those rail tracks lead to the Riviera. I don’t know why, every time I look at this photo, I think about Hercule Poirot riding on a train while solving some puzzling murder...

Machupicchu pueblo (anciennement Aguas Calientes) est un village situé au Pérou sur le río Urubamba. Il est connu comme le village le plus proche du Machu Picchu. C'est aussi le terminus de la ligne Ferrocarril Santa Ana de la compagnie PeruRail venant de Cuzco.
Machupicchu pueblo possède aussi des bains chauds naturels, qui ont donné à la ville son nom originel Aguas Calientes (« eaux chaudes » en espagnol), rebaptisée depuis pour des raisons touristiques.
Le 11 avril 2004, à la suite de deux glissements de terrain, six personnes ont trouvé la mort à Aguas Calientes. Il y a eu 5 disparus et 6 blessés ; de plus, 1 500 touristes ont été bloqués sur le site de Machu Picchu, accessible seulement depuis ce village.

(DE) 7121 017 ist mit Baujahr 1986 der jüngste in der ingesamt 35 Triebwagen umfassenden Flotte. macht einen sehr gepflegten Eindruck, hier zu sehen kurz nach Mittag des 26.10.2015. bei der Einfahrt in Zabok als Regionalzug 3125 aus Hromec.
Dutch Railways recently announced that all their trains run on sustainable energy. That means, they buy their energy from a supplier that produces green energy "somewhere". The physical energy the trains run on, still comes from the nearest production site, be it a green one, a nuclear one, coal fired or other. I'm sure this Eurocity train is using energy produced in a nuclear power plant - the one of Cattenom to be more precise, visible in the background. Not sure where French Railways buys their energy.
The day of chasing Eurocity trains ended here, in Kanfen. We actually got 2 trains here, but the photos look alike (apart from the locomotive), so you won't get to see it here. Maybe on my blog in due time ;)

Je vous propose en ce début de week-end un grand classique: les combinés reliant la frontière Espagnole au Nord de la France, voici la BB 27015 assurant l’un de ces trains, celui-ci reliait Cerbère à Forbach, de passage à Manduel le 14.01.17.
En raison des travaux EOLE sur le groupe V, les GL sont détournés par le groupe VI. Habituellement fait en 26000, ce fut la magnifique BB15017 en livrée "Arzens" avec son logo Macaron qui a été titulaire de cet Intercités reliant Cherbourg à la capitale. La rame est vue à Herblay bien à l'heure.
We schrijven 20 januari 2017. Het is koud, kaal en kil aan de kust van de Oostzee. Drie kilometer landinwaarts rijdt “Der Molli” met een rustig gangetje richting zijn eindbestemming Bad Doberan.
Getuige de vele molshopen (Maulwurfshügel) kent het weiland een fors aantal bewoners die onder de grond een warm heenkomen hebben gezocht. Dit geldt zeker ook voor de reizigers in “Der Molli”. De stoomverwarming zorgt voor een aangename temperatuur in de rijtuigen.
“Der Molli” heet voluit Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn Molli. Het is de 15 kilometer lange spoorlijn van Ostseebad Kühlungsborn West via Heiligendamm naar Bad Doberan. Op het eerste gedeelte rijdt de trein pal langs de Oostzeekust. Op het laatste gedeelte onder andere langs een lange Lindenlaan, zoals de foto toont. Dagelijks rijden op dit traject nog stoomtreinen. In de wintermaanden minder dan in de zomermaanden, wanneer het druk is aan de kust.
De foto toont de vierassige stoomlocomotief 99 2331-9. Achter de locomotief hangen een zestal rijtuigen. Voor de fijnproevers: het voorste rijtuig betreft een historische goederenwagen uit 1902, het tweede rijtuig is uit 1925 afkomstig en nog voorzien van opschriften uit de jaren ’60 van de voormalige Deutsche Reichsbahn. De overige wagens dateren uit dezelfde periode als de tweede wagen, maar zijn niet voorzien van de fraaie opbouw met glas.

Het is even over vijven. De laatste zonnestralen van die dag belichten de daken van de huizen aan de Obere Bahnhofstrasse.
Na eerder op de middag één ketelwagen van Trun naar Spiez gebracht te hebben, staat de zware 6-assige locomotief van het type Ae 6/6 op spoor 571 van het station van Spiez gereed voor vertrek met de buurtgoederentrein naar Trun. Daarvoor heeft de imposante locomotief - die eens de zwaarste treinen over de Gotthardpas mocht trekken - de nodige rangeerbewegingen op het emplacement van Spiez mogen uitvoeren. Evenals de heenrit, zal de terugrit naar Trun ook geen uitdaging zijn voor de 5830 pk sterke locomotief. De last bestaat slechts uit één containerdraagwagen met drie vuilcontainers.
Op spoor 5 staan de nodige reizigers te wachten op de Regional Express naar Bern. Over een paar minuten zal de trein uit de richting Zweizimmen binnenkomen. Na vertrek van de Regional Express zal het sein veilig tonen voor de buurtgoederentrein, waarna het geluid van de ventilatoren van de locomotief aan zal zwellen en de trein zich voor het korte ritje naar Trun in beweging zal zetten.
