A few hours later than previous photo. Fingers frozen, and getting tired. On the way back to the highway we came across a Captrain engine waiting to leave the Alaska section. This would have been a nice one to follow, but me and my friends lights were fading out so it was time to head back to our respective homes.

Embalse del Esla de Ricobayo nennt sich die Talsperre im Nordwesten Spaniens. Hier wird der Esla, ein Nebenfluss des Duero großflächig aufgestaut. Die Bahnstrecke Madrid - A Coruña im Abschnitt Zamora - Ourense überquert diesen auf einer 1942 gebauten Betonbrücke mit einer Bogenspannweite von 208m (lange Jahre Weltrekord).
In de eerste maanden van 1985 viel er een flink pak sneeuw in Nederland. De gemoderniseerde dieseltwee 184 rijdt hier keurig op tijd het station Wijlre binnen. De seinhuiswachter die zojuist de wissels nog schoongeveegd had, geniet vanuit het seinhuis van een warme kop koffie en van de ongestoorde doortocht van de trein.
During the winter of 1985 a Dutch Railways dmu type X ploughs it way through the snow in the hilly south Limburg landscape. Hand operated signals and a classic train from proven design are both a guarantee for a punctual service even in these for the Netherlands uncommon circumstances. In May 1988 this scenic line was closed. Since 1995 museumtrains of the Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij are running on this section.
The past few days have been very sunny and warm. Apart from working in the garden, this is also good weather for spending some time along the tracks. Tuesday evening after work I rushed to Hoeselt. I didn’t expect much, but I found out that HSL Belgium’s 186 383 was scheduled for a train to Antwerp. After parking the car though, I saw that a train was already on its way! I had barely enough time to run to the spot, carrying all my gear, and set up. As it turned out, Mattias drove the first train that I would see that evening. The red Vectron, fluo Traxx and interesting yellow first car made it a very nice train to look at in the evening light.

De Italiaanse smalspoorlijn Trento - Malé - Mezzana wordt geëxploiteerd door de Trentino Trasporti Spa (TT). Men beschikt hier over 14 Alstom Coradia Minuetto-treinstellen uit 2005 (ETi 401-414) en 4 treinstellen geleverd door Casaralto/Ansaldo/TIBB in 1994 (ET 15-18). De ET 16+17 passeren het kasteel van Cles op weg naar Trento.
Trentino Trasporti Spa (TT) serves the Italian narrow gauge line Trento - Malé - Mezzana. Trainset ET 16+17 (built by Casaralto/Ansaldo/TIBB in 1994) passes Cles castle on its way to Trento.

La SY X301 (CFD Montmirail, 1971) è titolare del treno CP 531 ("Navette" Nice - Colomars-La Manda) dello scorso 29 dicembre, La foto mostra quella che dovrebbe essere la più vecchia automotrice in servizio regolare di Francia, in arrivo alla stazione di Saint-Isidore qualche minuto prima del tramonto.
In may 2018, with 3 friends we managed to get a week off duty in order to undertake a trip to Bulgaria. Purpose of the trip: discover what Bulgaria’s railway scene has to offer. Immediately after getting off the plane we headed to Septemvri for an afternoon on the Rhodopen railway, which connects Septemvri to Dobrinishte. It serves for tourism, but is also an essential means of transportation for the people living in this remote region. We found the section that we visited very charming, and the limited number of trains was compensated by the speed they run at. We saw only 3 trains in total, but were able to shoot them at a variety of different locations.
The pictured train is the second one we saw. It runs uphill towards Dobrinishte and is entering the small station of Tsepina during a brief moment of sunshine.

De dagelijkse trein Kiev (Київ) - Lviv (Львів) - Uzhhorod (Ужгород) - Solotvyno (Солотвино) is 20 uur onderweg en maakt met nog 2.5 uur te gaan een korte stop in Vynohradiv (Виноградів). De Oekraïense rijtuigen 2de en 3de klas worden getrokken door breedspoor locomotief M62-1391 uit 1973. Op de voorgrond tevens een vierrailig traject met zowel breedspoor (1520 mm) als normaalspoor (1435 mm) - dit laatste is hier niet meer in gebruik. Achter het stationsgebouw begint de 750 mm smalspoorlijn naar Khmil'nyk, die helaas niet reed. Ondanks het bescheiden aantal treinen dat Vynohradiv aandoet, herbergt het stationsgebouw twee gescheiden loketten en wachtkamers voor lokaaltreinen en langeafstandstreinen. Een foto van deze stationsfaciliteiten voor de lokaaltreinen is aangehecht in het eerste kommentaar..
Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) long distance train Kiev (Київ) - Lviv (Львів) - Uzhhorod (Ужгород) - Solotvyno (Солотвино) is headed by broad gauge locomotive M62-1391 (built in 1973) and spotted in Vynohradiv (Виноградів). The standard gauge (1435 mm) tracks here are not used anymore. Behind the station building the narrow gauge (750 mm) railway line to Khmil'nyk starts, but was unfortunately out of order during our visit. Today takes place the farewell tour for the Traxx and ICR Benelux trains. Since the Fyra story they have been a regular sight on Belgian rails Between Brussels, Antwerp and the Dutch border. Today they run their adieu tour on rails they rarely rode on.
Back in 2018 I captured one then regular consist in Brussels-South, terminal station. It had just arrived from Den Haag. Then a common sight.

I could understand that you need to know where to turn that the machine will run perfect!
Our yearly family holiday was in the north of Istria, where we could enjoy sun and sea, and visit towns like Poreč and Rovinj. We were also located rather close to Koper, and this led me to spend 1 full day on the Koper ramp between Koper and Črnotiče.
I kicked off the day right after sunrise in Dekani. Here I met fellow holidaymaker Björn, with whom I made photos of the first 3 trains in sunlight leaving the port of Koper that day.
The daily night train from Maribor to Koper, that runs during summer and also carries carriages coming from Budapest, was announced with a delay of approximately 90 minutes. This led to an opportunity in Hrastovlje, at a location where I had not yet made pictures. The hike to the location, which started at the ruin in Zanigrad, was not the easiest. The view was worth it however, and we were treated on a number of freight trains on top of the passenger train.

Cahors ist ein durchaus sehenswertes Städtchen an der Hauptstrecke Paris–Orléans–Limoges–Toulouse (POLT). Neben der Altstadt ist die (hier nicht zu sehende) historische Brücke Pont Valentré aus dem 14. Jahrhundert das Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Wenn man diese überquert, führt am gegenüberliegenden Ufer ein schmaler Pfad, der Teil des Jakobswegs ist, auf einen Hügel. Von dort aus hat man einen schönen Blick auf die Stadt und die Bahnstrecke.
Bei fast 40 °C stieg ich am 6. Juli besagten Pfad hinauf, um einen der wenigen Intercités auf der POLT zu beobachten, der an diesem Tag nicht – wie auch schon während der beiden vorherigen Hitzewellen dieses Jahres – temperaturbedingt ausfiel. Hier zu sehen ist der INT 3694 (Toulouse Matabiau – Paris Austerlitz), der, gezogen von einer unbekannten BB 26000 in der Livrée „Carmillon“, über den Lot in den Bahnhof von Cahors einrollte.

En la actualidad se están realizando algunas obras de mejora, tanto en el exterior como en el interior. La fotografía muestra la cara norte del vestíbulo de entrada en el que se ha rehabilitado la pared que muestra el escudo de Francia.
À l'heure actuelle, ils font un travail d'amélioration, tant à l'extérieur et à l'intérieur. La photo montre le côté nord de l'entrée où le mur a été restauré montrant le bouclier de la France.
