An unkown AMG 800 of the Corsican Railway crosses a creek next to the Corsican university town Corte.

Some train spotters should bring longer lenses, so they should stay in the line...

Bergün is known for winter sports - skiing and sledging. The end of january wasn't the busy period, as we had to wait a while before some ski's sled by. Fortunately, they came right on the moment when a train was descending the Albula line towards Chur. Pretty cool to see them race down the hill together, each at their own pace. I'm not sure the skiers are headed towards the station - maybe rather the après-ski tent?

Who would win the race to Bergün station? I'm pretty sure it will be the passenger in the train led by engine 707.

Acheminement Colas Rail travaux MA100 Les Mureaux stockage > VSG > Saint-Varent

Returning to my home town after a short photo trip, before turning into my street, I saw some freight wagons standing still near my house. It turned out that one of the wagons had a problem with the brakes. The train driver got it fixed, and got the train back moving when I arrived on the spot. This location has changed quite a bit: as part of the modal shift from car to bicycle, a bicycle highway was built here, together with a fence.

Train ELBA St Quentin en Yvelines > St Martin d'Etampes

The Re420 takes its train to St. Gallen on the old viaduct towards Wipkingen and Oerlikon.

The viaduct got a new life a few years ago when it was renovated and shops and restaurants put in the arches.

Why wait for another train when the weather turns bad? Well, because every once and a while you just get lucky. Like in Ancy-sur-Moselle on April 17, 2024, at 16:12. One hole in the massive rain clouds lit the tracks at the exact right time.

After getting a picture of the yellow 363 005 (here), I wanted to chill ot a bit longer at this location. Sun was perfect and maybe another train would be coming up? This shiny 363 came at the right time, in very beautiful light.

I was out of inspiration as to where to photograph next. CFL1800 and Peter Gootzen kindly let me follow them to the station of Krefeld Linn. Standing on the platform we awaited a few trains - from the expected trains, one would be hauled by a recently repainted Ludmilla engine!

The building on the left of the frame is an old signalling cabin, I think. It seems to be out of service for a while now.

Earlier attempts to shoot the famous French nez cassé locomotives on the IC trains between Paris and Maubeuge were rather frustrating, partly due to the very sparse number of trains. That is, until we discovered that there were also loco-hauled trains running between Paris and Saint-Quentin. It turns out you can fill quite a day south of Saint-Quentin chasing these trains, which my friend Eurorailer and I have done a few times last summer.

 

The full story is as always available on railscapes.blog. This panic shot of 22320 with IC 16458 from Maubeuge to Paris-Nord kicked of the evening parade in Essigny-le-Grand.

October 28, 2022 - Right after sunrise, the 2-10-0 #16.27 climbs the grade above Kyustendil on the terminal and scenic section Kyustendil – Gyueshevo of the Line #6 Sofia - Voluyak - Pernik - Gyueshevo. When built, in 1910, this section continued to what was then Turkey, today’s North Macedonia. Today, it does not go any further than Gyueshevo, however the track still seems to remain in place beyond Gyueshevo.

 

This was a FarRail charter freight photo-train from Kyudenstil to Gyueshevo, that kept me and the other group members busy and happy from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Op de spoorlijn Liberec - Harrachov in Tsjechië worden Regio-Shuttle-motorwagens ingezet van fabrikant Stadler uit 2011. Twee stuks met voorop de 840 012-9 passeren het afgelegen station van Dolní Polubný, niet ver verwijderd van de grens met Polen.

 

Motorcars of class Regio-Shuttle built by Stadler in 2011 provide the services at the Czech railway line from Liberec to Harrachov. Headed by 840 012-9 the train is passing the railway station of Dolní Polubný, not far away from the Polish border.

Our battery tractor was not strong enough to pull the crocodile and the two cars in. So the 130 tons heavy machine was parked on a different track with electrical power supplied by the wires.

Slechts een enkele Portugese Interregio-trein (IR) rijdt in Porto door van het hoofdstation Campanhã naar het in het oude centrum gelegen kleine kopstation São Bento dat verder gedomineerd wordt door moderne elektrische voorstadstreinen. Net als de stationshal zijn ook de perronoverkappingen van Porto São Bento fraai, zeker in combinatie met een Interregio-trein uit Pocinho (Linha do Douro). Bij het vallen van de avond legt de 55-jaar oude CP-locomotief 1429 met rijtuigen uit 1948-1949 (!) als IR 876 langzaam vanuit de tunnel de laatste meters af tot het stootblok.

 

Only a single CP-Interregio train (IR) continues in Porto from the main Campanhã station to the small head-end São Bento station located in the old town, which is otherwise dominated by modern suburban electric trains. Like the station hall, Porto São Bento's platform covers are beautiful, especially when combined with an Interregio train from Pocinho (Linha do Douro). At dusk, the 55-year-old locomotive 1429 with carriages from 1948-1949 (!) as IR 876 slowly makes its final metres from the tunnel to the end of the platform.

Il Treno 306 (Trento - Mezzolombardo) dello scorso 5 novembre, effettuato dall'E86 ET 16 "Malé", è appena partito dalla stazione di Gardolo e percorre il lungo rettilineo che arriva fino alla fermata di Zona Industriale (Spini di Gardolo).

North of Ceska Trebova, the railway lines curves throught a beautiful valley. It was harder to expect to make photos here, but I managed to get a few. Still in the shade, ELL Vectron 193 227 hauls a RegioJet train from Prague to Kosice.
