Strasbourg is one of the last regions in France were you can still see BB 25500 series locomotives. We got 2 in front of a TER service to Strasbourg, numbers 25615 and 25663.

A loaded CP ballast train is slowly rounding the bend into Magog and a two-mile slow order. CP has been steadily upgrading this line, but a few slower sections of stick rail remain. The railroad coexists with a bustling centre core and waterfront leisure area around downtown Magog, which might explain why CP is in no hurry to upgrade this part of its newly reacquired Sherbrooke subdivision. Consist : CP 6251, CP 6017, CMQ 9011, CP 5936.
Lekker licht heeft het koppel diesellocomotieven van de Iraanse ‘serie 60’ het hier. Met een gematigd gangetje wordt met een sleep lege ertswagens de helling afwaarts gereden. Er resteren nog 800 hoogtemeters voordat de Perzische Golf is bereikt. Met een hellingspercentage van rond de 15 promille gaat het dalen gestaag. Rechts naast de spoorlijn bevindt zich de rivier de Sezar die hier de spoorlijn richting de uitloper van de Indische Oceaan begeleidt.
Verder vallen de stukken rails op die, overigens over het gehele traject, her en der verspreid liggen als stille getuigen van gedane spoorvernieuwing. Satellietfoto’s geven aan dat de rails er al een tijdje ligt.
Na lang wikken en wegen heb ik besloten om deze foto in de Flickr-collectie op te nemen omdat het Iraanse landschap hier erg goed tot uitdrukking komt.

La BB 7260 et son typique nez kaki assurait un intercités Bordeaux - Marseille ce 27 Décembre dernier, de passage sous les dernières éclaircies de la journée à Saint Martin de Crau.

(EN) At the beginning of 2013 the winter arrived Croatia especially snowy, within a short time there was considerable snowfall in many parts of the country. While in the Zagreb area the railway traffic was characterized by numerous failures of the electric locomotives and trainsets, there were almost no restrictions on the diesel routes around Varazdin. The robust diesel locomotives of American origin were, as usual, extremely reliable in the winter conditions. On 15/01/2013. 2044 022 made its way to Varazdin with the regional train 3006 through dense snowfall and was captured at the exit from Zabok.
(DE) Anfang 2013 war der Wintereinbruch in Kroatien ausgesprochen schneereich, innerhalb kurzer Zeit gab es in weiten Teilen des Landes erhebliche Neuschneemengen. Während im Raum Zagreb der Zugverkehr von zahlreichen Ausfällen der dort eingesetzten E-Loks und Triebzüge geprägt war, hat es auf den Dieselstrecken rund um Varazdin so gut wie keine Einschränkungen gegeben. Die robusten Dieselloks amerikanischen Ursprungs zeigten sich in den winterlichen Verhältnissen wie gewohnt äußerst zuverlässig. Am 15.01.2013. bahnte sich 2044 022 mit dem Regionalzug 3006 durch dichtes Schneetreiben ihren Weg nach Varazdin und wurde bei der Ausfahrt aus Zabok bildlich festgehalten.

La SY X301 (CFD Montmirail, 1971) è titolare del treno CP 719 ("Navette" Nice - Plan du Var) dello scorso 29 dicembre, La foto mostra quella che dovrebbe essere la più vecchia automotrice in servizio regolare di Francia, in arrivo alla fermata di Pont Charles-Albert. Sullo sfondo il ponte che ha dato il nome alla fermata e il bellissimo paese di Bonson.
I was walking down from Bristen to Amsteg and crossed the former water line for the power generation. I thought, wouldn't it be nice to see a train coming along with this view.
And then I saw it. One of the rare freight trains on the old line. This one with an Re 10/10 or Re10 called double power with a truly heavy load.
Would I need anything more to ask. And the locomotives were really heavy working to keep the train at its 80 kmph speed.
Een 40-jarig jubileum bij één werkgever komt tegenwoordig weinig meer voor. Dat geldt zeker ook voor het spoormaterieel. In 2021 lukte het locomotief 1611 om de 40 jaar vol te maken. Begin 1981 werd de eerste locomotief van de serie 1600 van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) afgeleverd. Op 22 juni 1981 werd locomotief 1611 afgeleverd, met de verwachting om jarenlang bij NS in dienst te blijven. Hoewel 40 jaar in dienst, heeft de locomotief al heel wat werkgevers gekend; een stuk of acht.
Vanaf januari 1999 werd de eerste 37 locomotieven van de serie 1600 (1600-1637) ingezet bij NS Cargo, als gevolg van de opdeling van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen in een goederentak en reizigerstak. NS Cargo ging na een fusie met DB Cargo verder onder de naar Railion. Dat was in 2000. Eerst was er Railion Benelux, waar NS ook een aandeel in had. Na de verkoop van de NS-aandelen in 2003, ging het verder onder de naam Railion Nederland. In 2009 ging Railion verder onder de naam DB Schenker Rail, om vervolgens in 2016 weer DB Cargo te gaan heten.
Vanaf 2009 werden er verschillende 1600’en gesloopt. De 1611 heeft altijd de dans kunnen ontspringen. Vanaf januari 2020 reden er nog maar drie 1600-en bij DB Cargo; de 1604, 1611 en 1615.
In september 2020 is de 1611, samen met vijf andere 1600’en overgenomen door Railexperts. Op 8 mei 2021 heeft het Duitse RailAdventure een meerderheidsbelang in Railexperts genomen. Ter gelegenheid hiervan werd de ex 1611 in het Railadventure-kleurenschema gestoken en mocht meteen die dag een eerste overbrenging doen.
De foto toont de 1611 tijdens het passeren van station Gilze-Rijen. Het is 21 maart 2009 als de locomotief met vijf beladen kalkwagens aan de haak op weg is van de kalkgroeve nabij het Belgische Hermalle naar de hoogovens in Beverwijk. Vanwege werkzaamheden voerde de reis die dag via Breda en Rotterdam in plaats van via Utrecht. Geheel passend bij die periode draagt de locomotief hier de opschriften van Railion.

'Two days after Hamas’ October 7th, 2023, attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an order to the IDF Chief of Staff for a massive and devastating bombing campaign in Gaza. “I’m not interested in targets”, he reportedly declared: “Take down houses, bomb with everything you have”.
The order was implemented: within 48-hours, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced he was releasing “all the restraints” on Israeli fire, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari asserted the Airforce was inflicting “maximum damage” on Gaza, and Israeli Air Force Chief of Staff Omer Tishler boasted of attacking “with thousands of munitions”, “in a large mass, and not surgically”.
For the next two years, the Israeli Airforce launched tens of thousands of airstrikes that overwhelmingly killed Palestinian civilians. For example, an investigation into Israel’s first month of bombing in October 2023 found that of over 600 Israeli strikes which killed more than 5100 Palestinians, just four percent were directed at a military target.
This bombing campaign was responsible for the vast majority of the over 71,000 violent Palestinian deaths in Gaza since October 7th, killing women and children at a faster rate than any other conflict in the 21st century.'

Fino al 1966 la ferrovia del Renon collegava l'altopiano con la città di Bolzano grazie a uno spettacolare tracciato con cremagliera di tipo Strub e pendenze che raggiungevano il 255‰. Per affrontare queste ultime nel 1907 furono acquistati tre locomotori di costruzione SLM: L1-L3. Di questi, oggi esiste solo L2, ma non è funzionante. Un quarto spintore, prodotto nel 1909, è conservato a Innsbruck. Lo scorso 20 settembre, in occasione di un evento fotografico, è stata riprodotta una classica composizione dei tempi della cremagliera: L2 + elettromotrice a 2 assi nr. 12 + carri 32 e 43.

Temperatures were rising already as this empty phosphate train passed us, hauled by a Japanese Hitachi loocomotive.

Accompagnée de la voiture Su011 et encadrée par les BB69440 et BB69480, la voiture IES 143 effectue une tournée de mesures reliant Caen à Mantes-la-Jolie par le groupe VI. La rame est vue avec une légère avance pour Paris-St-Lazare avant de repasser au même endroit un peu plus tard pour remonter sur Mantes-la-Jolie.

The oldest locomotive in the Baie de Somme metre gauge railway (CFBS) fleet is the 2-6-0 tank No.2 built in 1889 by the French company J.F. Cail (Works No.2296) for the Panama Canal construction project. On 26th April 2026, it was working hard on the severe climb away from St.-Valéry-sur-Somme Ville station, the midday service from Le Crotoy to Cayeux, comprising vintage stock, and setting light to the lineside along the route with one fire already starting to take hold and visible beyond the rear carriage.

h, is rush hour train 8001 from Schaarbeek to Oostende. Here it's seen near Oordegem, under a brick bridge still standing strong. But for how long?
