I was out of inspiration as to where to photograph next. CFL1800 and Peter Gootzen kindly let me follow them to the station of Krefeld Linn. Standing on the platform we awaited a few trains - from the expected trains, one would be hauled by a recently repainted Ludmilla engine!
The building on the left of the frame is an old signalling cabin, I think. It seems to be out of service for a while now.

October 28, 2022 - Right after sunrise, the 2-10-0 #16.27 climbs the grade above Kyustendil on the terminal and scenic section Kyustendil – Gyueshevo of the Line #6 Sofia - Voluyak - Pernik - Gyueshevo. When built, in 1910, this section continued to what was then Turkey, today’s North Macedonia. Today, it does not go any further than Gyueshevo, however the track still seems to remain in place beyond Gyueshevo.
This was a FarRail charter freight photo-train from Kyudenstil to Gyueshevo, that kept me and the other group members busy and happy from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Op de spoorlijn Liberec - Harrachov in Tsjechië worden Regio-Shuttle-motorwagens ingezet van fabrikant Stadler uit 2011. Twee stuks met voorop de 840 012-9 passeren het afgelegen station van Dolní Polubný, niet ver verwijderd van de grens met Polen.
Motorcars of class Regio-Shuttle built by Stadler in 2011 provide the services at the Czech railway line from Liberec to Harrachov. Headed by 840 012-9 the train is passing the railway station of Dolní Polubný, not far away from the Polish border.

Our battery tractor was not strong enough to pull the crocodile and the two cars in. So the 130 tons heavy machine was parked on a different track with electrical power supplied by the wires.

Slechts een enkele Portugese Interregio-trein (IR) rijdt in Porto door van het hoofdstation Campanhã naar het in het oude centrum gelegen kleine kopstation São Bento dat verder gedomineerd wordt door moderne elektrische voorstadstreinen. Net als de stationshal zijn ook de perronoverkappingen van Porto São Bento fraai, zeker in combinatie met een Interregio-trein uit Pocinho (Linha do Douro). Bij het vallen van de avond legt de 55-jaar oude CP-locomotief 1429 met rijtuigen uit 1948-1949 (!) als IR 876 langzaam vanuit de tunnel de laatste meters af tot het stootblok.
Only a single CP-Interregio train (IR) continues in Porto from the main Campanhã station to the small head-end São Bento station located in the old town, which is otherwise dominated by modern suburban electric trains. Like the station hall, Porto São Bento's platform covers are beautiful, especially when combined with an Interregio train from Pocinho (Linha do Douro). At dusk, the 55-year-old locomotive 1429 with carriages from 1948-1949 (!) as IR 876 slowly makes its final metres from the tunnel to the end of the platform.

Il Treno 306 (Trento - Mezzolombardo) dello scorso 5 novembre, effettuato dall'E86 ET 16 "Malé", è appena partito dalla stazione di Gardolo e percorre il lungo rettilineo che arriva fino alla fermata di Zona Industriale (Spini di Gardolo).
North of Ceska Trebova, the railway lines curves throught a beautiful valley. It was harder to expect to make photos here, but I managed to get a few. Still in the shade, ELL Vectron 193 227 hauls a RegioJet train from Prague to Kosice.

Het is half zeven als de overwegwachter op zijn fluitje blaast. Via de portofoon heeft de overwegwachter zojuist te horen gekregen dat trein 219 naar Teheran vanaf het drie kilometer verderop gelegen station van Sari is vertrokken. Het sluiten van de overweg is hier geen sinecure en vergt een goede timing; tot op het laatste moment blijft het verkeer van de drukke rondweg de overweg passeren. Wanneer de bomen dalen weet op het allerlaatste moment een Mercedes vrachtwagen van het type ‘Kurzhauber’ met piepende remmen te stoppen, terwijl de overwegwachter met een enigszins bezorgde blik aan de slinger blijft draaien. Het brullen van de zware diesellok is al goed te horen als teken dat de trein weldra de overweg zal passeren.

Two trains? You're fired. With 252 cars clocking in at almost 12,000 ft, a monster CN empty potash train rolls through the sag at Sainte-Madeleine with one GEVO up front and one in the middle (count 'em: 1020 axles). This train originated in New Brunswick and is headed back towards the Prairies to be reloaded. CN typically runs loaded trains at about 200 cars and over 30,000 tons, but the empty trains get even longer. Consist : CN 3022, CN 2957 (mid-train).

Talbot leverde in 1996-98 treinstellen type DM'90 - bijgenaamd Buffel - aan de Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). Hoewel nog lang niet versleten rijden ze inmiddels toch al in hun nadagen door de privatisering en elektrificering van spoorlijnen. Zo ook bij de spoorlijn van Zwolle naar Kampen ('Het Kamperlijntje') waar in 2017 de exploitatie wordt overgenomen door Syntus met nieuwe treinstellen. Tevens wordt de lijn geëlektrificeerd en zal de weidse blik in de polder Mastenbroek daardoor verleden tijd zijn.
Dutch National Railways (NS) class DM'90 was built by Talbot during 1996-98 and got the nickname 'Buffalo'. DMU's 3433+3447 are spotted here on the branch line Zwolle - Kampen. As from 2017 the train operator will change from NS (Dutch national railways) into the private operator Syntus. Moreover, the line will be electrified which will make the view on the typical Dutch landscape less attractive.

A Tm is a small rail tractor to move cars around or used for maintenance teams to get quickly to their point of action.
Built in 1965 by Robert Aebi AG in Zürich or RACO, it has an Saurer motor in it.
We are currently in the process of giving it a fresh paint shop on the outside, but also the inside.

La BB 75034, en tête du train de machines régulier reliant Longueau à Achères composé de 9 machines (27307, 67280, 60170, 60053, 67226, 79028, 60085, 60172), franchit la gare d'Herblay à l'heure. Itinéraire inhabituel pour ce train mais son sillon était bien tracé par le groupe VI (Paris-Mantes via Conflans). Le conducteur changera de bout sur la voie de rebroussement à Argenteuil afin de prendre un bout de la Grande Ceinture Nord pour rejoindre le dépôt d'Achères.
A spot I keep returning to is this one close to Kamp-Bornhofen. Is it because of a previous time when I missed this same train hauled by a black class 66 engine? I had taken a group photo using the camera's timer a few moments before, and had forgotten to turn it off. And you only notice it when pressing the shutter button results in beep...beep instead of click.

Our yearly family holiday was in the north of Istria, where we could enjoy sun and sea, and visit towns like Poreč and Rovinj. We were also located rather close to Koper, and this led me to spend 1 full day on the Koper ramp between Koper and Črnotiče.
I kicked off the day right after sunrise in Dekani. Here I met fellow holidaymaker Björn, with whom I made photos of the first 3 trains in sunlight leaving the port of Koper that day.
The daily night train from Maribor to Koper, that runs during summer and also carries carriages coming from Budapest, was announced with a delay of approximately 90 minutes. This led to an opportunity in Hrastovlje, at a location where I had not yet made pictures. The hike to the location, which started at the ruin in Zanigrad, was not the easiest. The view was worth it however, and we were treated on a number of freight trains on top of the passenger train.
