Still cold, but standing on the shore again. The short day is over already, but the shadows of the west side of the valley don’t reach the east side yet. Perfect for this colorful train to Luxemburg.

Le 23 Juillet 2018, une tournée Mauzin numéro 818977 avait lieue entre Saint Germain au Mont d’Or et Nîmes, encadrée par deux BB 69200. Le convoi est vu passant sur le défilé de Donzère avec quelques minutes de retard.
Bipanto de sorti pour la BB 7269 qui assure un TER Paris Austerlitz - Orléans, de passage à Tivernon. Le 11 Avril 2017.
Après avoir changé de bout à Haussmann-St-Lazare, la voiture LUCIE encadrée par les BB 22380 et BB 22399, franchit la gare de Magenta en parcours de travail pour Tournan.
L'ATR 100 002 di SAD effettua il R 7016 (Malles - Merano) del 15 febbraio 2025. La foto mostra il treno poco dopo la sua partenza dal capolinea di Malles.
La SY X305 (CFD Montmirail, 1977 e recentemente revampizzata) delle Chemins de fer de Provence espleta il treno 2 (Saint-André-les-Alpes - Nice) dello scorso 6 ottobre. La foto mostra la bella automotrice nei pressi di Villars-sur-Var, mentre serpeggia in riva al fiume Var.

Het aantal NS Flirt-treinstellen met een nieuw geel front is vooralsnog op de vingers van een hand te tellen dus dan ben je blij als er een voor de lens komt. De 2209+2221 zijn op weg van Weert naar Tilburg Universiteit en vertrekken hier te Oisterwijk, waar het stationsgebouw SS 4e klasse uit 1863 altijd een dankbaar fotomotief is.

During breakfast at the hotel in Passau, I checked the weather forecast to decide which way to travel next. The Pyhrnbahn looked good, and if I wanted to catch some vitamine D the day after, I'd have to end up on the Semmering line. So the plan was made, and I headed south. First stop: Schön, located between the stations of Micheldorf in Oberösterreich and Klaus an der Pyhrnbahn Bahnhof.
There was quite a lot of train traffic, most of it northbound. But I also saw some southbound trains, among which this train led by 2 Taurus locomotives. Was I glad to see a couple of these, instead of the never ending stream of Vectrons these days.

October 16, 2025 - Pleißing-Waschbach, Lower Austria.
"In the Beginning, There Was Steam"
Steam between salvation and cider near Pleißing-Waschbach, on the Retz-Drosendorf local line.
This picture with Cross, Forbidden Fruit, and “Sistine” (16) wagons, makes for an unexpected congregation. It is a “question of apples and miracles” because such an authentic-looking steam-hauled freight train made of 2-axle cars is truly a miracle in 2025.
And since miracles often come with footnotes, here is one from 1893: the wayside cross in the foreground was dedicated “zur Ehre Gottes” by Michael and Johanna Puhm of nearby Pleißing, whose small inscription still survives on the weathered pedestal. More than a century later, their Marterl unexpectedly finds itself presiding over a steam-hauled freight train—proof that divine providence sometimes takes the form of a 0-10-0 locomotive.

On a misty winter evening, HSL Belgium hauls a train of brand new cars from Zeebrugge towards Magdeburg. For this picture I had a hard time keeping the camera lens free of moist. I had to warm it up in the car until right before the train came to prevent it from fogging. High atmospheric moisture on the cold lens surface risked to totally blur out the resulting pictures.

De NS wandeling van station Elst (Gld) naar station Arnhem voert - met wat kleine omwegen - ook langs wat aardige punten voor treinspotters, zoals de Spoorbrug Oosterbeek over de Nederrijn bij Arnhem. Na drie kwartier van 'nieten' in de wolken/zonloterij was dan eindelijk het moment daar dat de zon door de wolken kwam tegelijk met het passeren van een trein. Arriva GTW 258 van Arnhem naar Tiel was de gelukkige.

Binnenkort ga ik weer op bezoek bij "Molli", de smalspoorlijn van Bad Doberan naar Bad Kühlungsborn. Hopelijk vriest het dan en liggen er bergen sneeuw ...... :-) hetgeen in schril contrast zou staan met mijn eerste bezoek in de zomer van 1988. Toen was de lijn nog onderdeel van de staatsspoorwegen in de DDR, de Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). Beroemd is het lijntje vanwege het spoortraject door de straten van Bad Doberan ("Ortsdurchfahrt"). De Trabantjes e.d. zullen er nu niet meer zijn. Een vorige opname van dezelfde dag is hieronder aangehecht in het eerste commentaar.
Within soon I will visit again the narrow-gauge railway "Molli" between Bad Doberan and Bad Kühlungsborn and I hope for severe winter weather, which will be in contrast to my first visit during summer 1988. At that time the line was still part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). Famous was/is the track through the streets of Bad Doberan where this picture was taken.
