EDIT: Confirmed for early April. Yay.
this is the second control at Marshall store. Lots of cyclists and other customers were hanging out near the store's entrance, so i found a quiet spot--albeit near the porta johns--and ate my snack. It wasn't all "downhill from here", but the tougher parts of the rides are behind us.
After almost ANOTHER year of visitng this store, they have FINALLY taken the site to store sign that was hanging from the ceiling, cut the "restrooms" tag from the bottom, and placed the sign OVER the Layaway sign...finally...

Former Crest Lanes bowling center and W.T. Grant store at Woodcrest Shopping Center in Cherry Hill. Sketch I drew gives an idea of the original look. The former Grants has been divided into smaller spaces, Crest Lanes is now a cosmetology school.
Photograph taken on January 7, 2009 of former Milliron’s Department Store that opened approximately in 1949. A few years later The Broadway Department Store chain took over this site and it was a Broadway Department Store until the early 1990s. The Broadway disposed of this location. Mervyns took over the site, gutted the interior, remodeled the interior, removed the rooftop parking, as well as an escalator tower and stairs that led to the roof. Located in Westchester California on Sepulveda and LaTijera. Los Angeles California. In 2008, Mervyns announced that they were closing down all of their stores. This former Mervyns Department Store closed down in early January 2009. Originally, when this was a Broadway, you could drive up to the roof for parking via a ramp. The ramp has been sealed off after Mervyns took over the buliding. Photo of inside of closed Mervyns Store.
Located across the street from the former Mervyns is another Shopping Center. In this center is a Longs Drugs and a Ralphs Supermarket. In 2008 CVS Pharmacy Stores puchased the Longs Drug Store Chain. In early April 2009, the Longs Drug Store changed its name to CVS Pharmacy. The CVS Pharmacy is located Ralphs Westchester at Sepulveda at Westchester Parkway, near Lincoln (sort-of) in Los Angeles, California. Ralphs Westchester was builts first, due to its success, Longs Drugs was then built next door. About a block down the street, at Lincoln is another CVS Pharmacy, formerly a Sav-on Drug Store. The cashier at the new CVS store said they were keeping both CVS Stores. Also in this shopping center is Pet Co (former JJ Newberrys then Flax Art Store, now sub divided into Petco, Tuesday Morning and misc. Shops.
In the shopping center connected to the former Mervyns Department Store is the other CVS Pharmacy Store, a former Sav-on Drug Store. This other CVS Pharmacy store is located in a companion shopping center and separtated by less than a mile from the former Longs now CSW Store. In this shopping center is Trader Joes Market, CVS Pharmacy Store, TJ Maxx (former JC Penny Department Store), Pandera Bakery, Hometown Buffet, some misc. shops.
Zoe the Cat begs for attention as I attempt to photograph a vintage Kraft Miracle Whip grocery store poster. Unfortunately, the confused folks in the Kraft Foods design department recently decided to shorten the name to "MW".

The recently restored Mutual Store on Flinders Street in Melbourne has been converted into apartments and boutique shops on the ground floor.
Similar in style to The Block Arcade on Collins Street, and built at the same time, this mannerist styled gem has a combination of open and closed pediments that flank a central bay window, elaborately detailed corbels and the building is crowned by a seated statuette above a classic mannerist circular window.
Western Connection at the dead Hampton Towne Centre, Essexville, MI. This storefront looks like it was once part of a chain, but I'm not sure which. My first guess is maybe Lerner New York, which I know used to have a store in this mall. Taken December 2004.
Was looking through my box-o-antique-goodies and found these two little postcards. I bought these from an antique store about 7 years ago for about 25 cents each. I haven't done much research on the postcard companies they are from but it is definitely on my to do list. I'm sure they're not worth all that much but I love the fact that they are so old! The bigger one is from 1907 and it is from someone writing to a family member and mentioning how they still have a bit of a cold. I can't remember exactly what it says since I don't have them in front of me but I love trying to imagine how it was back then and what this persons life was like. The little one is a 'Happy New Year' card and it just says "Dear Papa, From Ernest". Still trying to figure out how old that one is though...

Located on the historic Fourth Avenue Shopping District in Tucson, Arizona. This is the side view.
You can see a sign on the street corner saying "Pie Allen Neighborhood". The Pie Allen Neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona was named in honor of John "Pie" Allen. He was renowned for his dried-apple pies during frontier days, when fresh fruit was very difficult to come by. He came to Arizona about 1856 and sold pies made from dried apples to soldiers and settlers for one dollar. The pies were such a tremendous hit in Southern Arizona that his pies led Allen to become a local entrepreneur and eventually the mayor of Tucson.
Allen opened trading posts and post offices from Bisbee to Wickenburg. Tombstone, Arizona's famous Allen Street is named for him as well.
The Floor Store (18,020 square feet)
1281 Carmia Way, Chesterfield Marketplace, Richmond, VA
This store opened in February 2020 and relocated here in summer 2022; it was originally a Kids R Us, which opened in September 1998 (originally located here) and closed in 2003. It became Where Ya Bin on June 20th, 2025.
People were shopping up a storm! Many of the items seen here are gone, but a number are still available, like the killer 1950s provision shop display, and the industrial table with steel and amazing wood grain. Oh, and the balloon. You know you NEED that joint. That is like, the most practical thing EVER. Nobody can argue with that. "You probably brought home something unreasonable from that place in Bukit Batok, didn't you?! Wait, it's a giant grey and black balloon with colorful paper bunting? I'm eating my words. You were wise today. So practical! So wise." That's what your significant other will say.

Our last trip we went to several National Parks. One of our favorites is Yellowstone National Park. We stopped at the General Store at Fishing Bridge when we were visiting Yellowstone Lake. View from the upper level of the store looking down at the stuff on the shelves. We were hoping for some end of season deals.
