Wedding cake with 15 fresh roses. Bling monogram cake toppers provided by the bride but did not fit on the top tier which is why they are placed on top of eachother. Bad quality photo thanks to iphone =)

... I pulled it off! I seriously never thought I would... It was a lot of work, but well worth it. Thanks so much to our dear friend Ada for the delicious molten chocolate cake recipe, which was a big success, and to my great friend Nancy for all her decorating accessories! I couldn't have done it without you!
I baked a cake yesterday and since it was delicious, there's nothing left to eat! What a shame. No dessert for today.

This is my second Ben 10 cake. Much like the first, it is a 1/2 sheet cake covered in buttercream. It is topped with a 8" round that creates the omnitrex. Ben 10 and the aliens are cake toppers. It has fondant accents.
The request was for a masquerade cake in the colours pink, purple, black and silver, with the cake being purple. The rest was left up to me!
Believe it or not, there is no person turning 40 who will be celebrating with this cake. In fact I doubt the candles will even be lit! The customer ordered this for her daughter, who is studying Event Management. She is involved in a group assignment, where they have to set up a 40th birthday party in a masquerade theme, right down to the cake! I suggested a dummy cake, but I think they were quite happy to have an excuse to eat cake!!! I'm hoping they might share some photos with me afterwards of their 'set-up'!
I had tonnes of fun with this cake, but learnt that I hate working with vibrant colours! My mask started off MUCH brighter, but because I had to make it a week in advance, it started to fade! :-(
I sought inspiration from a few cakes I found on Flickr, as well as from my Venetian mask collection. It was also my first time quilting. I was pretty happy with how it turned out!

I'm not a baker. I'm really not. This is the first cake I've made since a friend's daughter turned 2 1/2 (she's now 8). But I really liked this cake, because it is chock full of bananas. It has a lot of pineapple in it as well, but the bananas are the dominant flavor. Not only did I make a cake and it turned out tasty, didn't have the texture of molten hockey pucks, but it was pretty. Like pretty enough that I'm willing to photograph it to share with the world. And Gapers Block.
My little nephew Chase turned 2 last weekend and had a Thomas the Train party. My brother said minimal fondant so this is what he got! No matter... Chase had two slices and that is all that matters!

I should have taken a picture of the inside, but it was easily the best cake I've every tasted. YUM.

A whipped cream and strawberry cake I made for Mothers Day (27 May in Sweden). Bottom layer is vanilla custard, upper layer is cream and mashed strawberries, decorated with fresh strawberries.
I was booked to make this cake and simply asked to 'go Scottish'! It was to be a large cake and I was feeling in need of inspiration so I started a thread on Sweet Treats and was bombarded with ideas and encouragement. So Thanks go to Sweet Treats and all who sail in her! Extra thanks to PJ (Scrumptious Cakes), Diane (Dianesm) and 'a matter of taste' and their thistle lessons too! I grew very attached to this cake and the usual separation issues arose at the end..... so sad that they have to be eaten I think. Do you think a cake feels pain?!
