Every mouth sings of what it's without,
so we all sing of love.
Babies sleep in all our bones,
so scared to be alone.

I feel a bit downtrodden and exhausted at the moment, and not for any particular reason that I can think of. My father tells me I'm working too hard at my classes. He could be right: I'm getting good grades, and I'm not working as hard as I have before now, but for some reason, it's wearing on me, wearing me down.
I hardly ever go out to shoot photos, because I'm just so tired, or so aware of all the things I "should" be doing (online homeworks, reading assignments, washing the gigantic stack of dishes which never seems to grow any smaller). And maybe just because I've lost some momentum. Everything else in my life has surged up and smothered my drive to make art.
I guess I'll just hope for some truly easy breaths sometime soon.
I just finished the book The Hunger Games in about one 7-hour sitting. I ordered the rest off Amazon because I'm too impatient to have someone get me them for Christmas.
The snow here is lovely, in the same way poisonous animals are lovely: from a distance. The weather will be fine one minute, then snowing so hard you can't see the lines on the road, or really the road itself, then all of sudden it's perfectly clear. And so the cycle repeats itself. Pff.
I drove up to the mountain range and forest near my town, hoping I could still get up to the summit,
but it's too late in the season, and it was all snowed out. I trooped into the woods though, and as I was there, the most peaceful, silent snow began to drift down, the sort they show in movies. It was incredible.

Photographed December 2022 / PENTAX KM 35mm SLR Film Camera with SMC PENTAX-K 30mm/2.8 lens. The film was KENTMERE 400 metered ASA 320 developed in KTF-QP (a hydroquinone+phenidone formula which uses triethanolamine as alkali). The negative was illuminated on a light table and scanned with a Pentax k3 DSLR and Schneider COMPONON-S 80mm/4 enlarging lens on a helicoid extensison tube). The image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap Seed application: full frame scan of entire negative area without trimming.
Among the trees, beauty lies
Below the ever stretching skies
That send kisses of beautiful light
Shining down, hot and bright
Through the branches without a sound
Onto the wildness of the waiting ground

Yesterday, the wedding went off without a hitch.
Well, not quite true.
They got hitched.
The weather held true to this last month's form, clear and bright.
Amazingly, there was just a pleasant breeze rather than gale force wind.
There wasn't any wildfire haze.
We were able to commandeer the location at the university our son wanted.
We didn't run afoul of any Pandemic Police.
There were only nine guests. All wore masks. All the various family groups kept distanced.
It was great!
The bride was beautiful.
She and our son got through their vows without too much stammering or obvious nerves.
All of Kim's hard work getting things organized paid off.
She slept well last night!
This morning we treated ourselves to a brief visit to the botanic gardens.
This week will probably be filled with posts peering between branches, looking through slats and various other forms of "shooting through" as that is the theme of the week at The Photo Forum's weekly challenge.

Located at 16°30′0″S 68°08′0″W (−16.5, −68.1333), La Paz is built in a canyon created by the Choqueyapu River (now mostly built over), which runs northwest to southeast. The city's main thoroughfare, which roughly follows the river, changes names over its length, but the central tree-lined section running through the downtown core is called the Prado.
The geography of La Paz (in particular the altitude) is marked by social differences. The more affluent residents live in the lower, central areas of the city southwest of the Prado. Many middle-class residents live in high-rise condos near the center. Lower-income residents live in makeshift brick houses in the surrounding hills.
The satellite city of El Alto, in which the airport is located, is spread over a broad area to the west of the canyon, on the Altiplano. La Paz is renowned for its unique markets, unusual and dramatic topography, and traditional culture.

This rococo church, dating from the 18TH century, stands out, inside, the neoclassical, with sobriety and polychrome carving without gold. On the throne the chancel altar you can admire a statue of our Lady of mercy, 18TH century work.
In contrast to the austerity of the Sé cathedral and the Paço dos Três Escalões, the Rococo façade of the Church of Misericórdia with its rich decorations - a fine baroque portico topped by an exquisite balcony veranda, windows decorated with frontons and balustrades and two towers decorated with large windows - confers a note of joy within the overall severity of the courtyard.

Looking below the surface now is found
Lying silently without a sound
The leaves that once hung up high
The leaves that gazed across the sky
The leaves that blew softly in the breeze
When they ruled the towering trees
But all things must come to an end
Autumn came, they did descend
Torn from their home, they did fly
Riding the air until they lie
Below the surface, where they are found
Dying slowly without a sound
Study of duck feather, natural light.

I'm trying to enter a contest for the Cincinnati Zoo and can only use photos taken from June 29th to July 21st of 2008 so I'm limited on which pics I can enter. I'd go back to the zoo and get more pictures but its so hot here and I don't think I could handle the heat and smog. I would imagine the animals feel the same way and will be really taking it easy. It's a shame that they don't let you use pics from times when its cooler because your more apt to get better photos because the animals are more active. Oh well! Have a wonderful day everyone!
It's been One Year I suddenly lost my beloved father from an unexpected fulminating stroke. He passed away on a Friday 13th, the worst day in my life. One year of Grieve, putting myself together, one day after the other.
It was traumatic, I've never cried as much, never hurt that much. I hadn't really learned the meaning of Despair till then. it's been a long process. He was the joy in our lives, our Anchor.
It was in the middle of a real storm, one I'd never expected, most powerful than I could've ever imagined, that I learned how strong and fragile I could be. One doesn't learn that until Darkness comes with no short notice... A water divisor I wish it hadn't happened.
I've learned a lot about myself and people in general after this.
I also learned who my real friends are, not that many, by the way, but priceless. Some stayed by my side, others revealed they weren't such good friends... and there were a few who surprised me, who checked on me from time to time to see how I was doing, offered me help, sincerely and not afraid I could accept it. I call it even.
I thank those good old friends and the new ones, for their support, compassion, their Friendship. I thank my boyfriend, my Family and my Brother, who has become our anchor.
and my Flickr friends who kept visiting and posting on my photos, even when I spent months hardly commenting on anyone's.
One doesn't remain the same after such loss. I haven't. Life is, indeed, short... and it can end from one minute to the other. I'm learning to say "I love you" more often, to give my love more often to the ones who matter.
In the last year my ambitions have also changed, I want to be happy doing what I do, I don't want to change the way I see the world and people through my lenses in order to fit where some people may think I should. Life is too short for that. I'll stand with the ones who appreciate, value, what I do.
As a person, I'll stand with good people, the strong in character, the ones who know the value of friendship, love. I want to be the best person I can, honor the man my father was and everything he taught me.
I learned so much from him, he was a Genuine Good, Unselfish, Loving Person. A Real Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Friend. A Great Man, with an amazing Character (one either has it or not, there's no mid term for that) a man of his Word. He was so Unique, died young... full of plans, full of life. The World is a sadder place without him.
It's with tears going down that I dedicate this self portrait to Him, who was never afraid to show the ones he loved how much he cared, who helped others, who raised his family with all his heart, love, tenderness. A man I'll miss till the end of my life.

Without you, there is no time
The bee acquires the stillness of a stone
And nature's frantic flap assumes a stationary stance.
Colour fades and life is held as though in heavy glass
The swift, suspended inches from her nest
Will there remain 'til after you return.

Exhibitionists, fig. 1 (Stine & Hans)
First comes the art and the artist's vision. Second comes the gallery, the curator, the purveyor of the exhibition, with his/her interpretation by using the context of the gallery. Third comes the public and the way they consume & interpret the art on display.
Between 5th-7th October, 2007, I asked various visitors to the Oslo Høstutstilling (Oslo's Autumn exhibition - a yearly avant garde arrangement) if they would pose for me in silhouette. Often understated and often the last part of the 'art communication', I decided to make the public at this art exhibition become art itself, not merely relegated to passive movers through the gallery space. These people I called the 'Exhibitionists' - the public on show amidst the exhibits, silent voices, shadows, silhouettes without whom art itself would have no meaning.
A big thanks to all who participated.
