Without hesitation, I decided to join this excursion tour at the port of Skagway during my Alaska cruise, when I saw its title “Skagway in Focus - Guided Photography Adventure”, hoping to explore some of the strategic photographic “adventure” spots which otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to visit on my own within the few hours’ stay at the stop-over port. I wasn’t disappointed:-)

Château de Coucy is a castle in ruins. It was built in the 1220 and the donjon was the largest in Europe. This is all that remains of it, it was blown up in 1917 by retreating German forces (it is not known if it was for military purposes or destroying for destroying's sake). The rest place is in ruins - but more standing ones, like the wall to the far left in this shot.

In Greek mythology, Cassandra was the daughter of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy. Her beauty caused Apollo to grant her the gift of prophecy. However, when she did not return his love, Apollo placed a curse on her so that no one would ever believe her predictions.

Your thoughts?? Yesterday one of my Flickr friends raises an interesting question whether or not I should have moved the blue recycle bin out of my shooting scene (see image below). It was an intentional decision on my part to leave the blue recycle bin in the photo. My reason’s included 1) I liked the blue yellow colour match, 2) that triangle created by the bin-bikes-yellow building provided a leading line to the colourful building and 3) it was garbage day and in my street photography, I strive to present things as they really were.
For interest, and as a good Photoshop learning exercise, I tried to remove the bin from the image and see how it looked. It was a very challenging exercise and clearly I have to work on my PS skills more. However, I am curious as to your thoughts on whether the image is better with or without the blue bin and why. Thanks.
Thanks Lisbeth for sugggestion.

The château is the beige building at the back - the red building in front of it is the stables, built in the 1740s.
At Château de Bizy which was originally built in 1675 by Michel-André Jubert Bouville - but has been rebuilt several times, first already in 1741-1743 for Charles Louis Auguste Fouquet de Belle-Isle (duc de Belle-Isle) by the architect Pierre Contant d'Ivry, earning the place the nickname the Versailles of Normandy. The château changed hands many times before ending up with the Baron Fernand de Schickler in 1858 (when the baron was 19 years old) and in 1860 he had it rebuilt by the architect William Henry White in Italian neo-classical style. The château is now the residence of the Duc d'Albufera (the fourth duke was a nephew of Baron Schickler).
A spruce grouse struts confidently before me, seemingly without a care. I have often been startled when one suddenly takes flight, as the sound of its wings is quite loud. After briefly flying through the trees, the grouse brings its wings together over its back, producing two sharp claps about 0.5 seconds apart. These sounds, astonishingly, are loud enough to be heard by the human ear from a staggering 150 meters away. In addition to vocalizations, there are other non-vocal sounds made by the grouse, such as soft drumming produced by territorial males (created by the beating of their wings), a tail swish, and a whoosh made by the tail feathers during flight.

I have been without inspiration or photographic motivation for some time, seeking inspiration and getting creative is not always easy... this is probably a reflection of my personal moment... or of life itself, sometimes complicated... we know there are better days than others... that there are times better than others... I've seen really beautiful photos, I've also read great and beautiful stories from my friends here on Flickr lately, maybe that's something it does keep me...
This photo that I publish is made some time ago, nature does not need inspiration like human beings to create, she is already "pure inspiration" in herself, she does not need anyone ... she just wants us not to bother her too much with our steps ... maybe I have to go back to nature to look for that light!
Now I take refuge in music... as I have done on so many occasions in my life, that allows me to think and reflect...
I am going to add here this wonderful song from what is for me, the best Spanish musician and composer... as the song says... I have nothing... I only have you... and that means a lot!!
If you want, you can enjoy the video clip of this great artist here and better understand what I want to tell you:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7zDgnd9sMQ&ab_channel=Alejan...
I do not pretend to teach you anything about life... but I would love to be able to tell you this, if you allow me... Never say "no" to a hug, do not hold back from giving it too... few things so simple in life can mean so much to someone else and also to you... make this world a better place with this simple gesture!
May light, music and love guide you all! A big hug!

This guy let me get within 3 ft of him, so cool to be so close to this wonderful bird. He was in the shadows and the background was naturally overexposed which caused the natural white background. This was the highlight of my mid week sabbath time, such a delight

Taken on a dawn shoot a few weeks ago with my friend Urs from germany.
We was treated to some great light early on, pink clouds and all that but clear skys over the valley at the wrong time was not so good. We did however get some great light about an hour later beaming across the valley between the clouds, as above.

Without doubt this is one of the finest stone bridges in Wales.
The three spans of Pont Fawr rise elegantly over the River Conwy and now carry the B5106 road between Llanrwst and Gwydir Castle.
Its central arch had the largest span In Wales when the bridge was built in 1636. Although not proven, the bridge design is popularly attributed to architect Inigo Jones (1573-1622).
Last week, it would have been impossible for me to take this shot due to the heavy rain and flooding. The water level rose well above the grass embankment to my immediate right. In fact the darker grey coloured 'High Water Mark' can still be seen on the facing left hand side of the bridge's central arch - having not fully dried out.

No wind, no sun, no highlights, mist and rain - Devon today.
The airfield is deserted this morning.
Dunkeswell airfield, Dunkeswell, Devon, UK.
Dunkeswell Aerodrome (ICAO: EGTU) is an airfield in East Devon, England. It is located approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) north of the town of Honiton and 14 nautical miles (26 km; 16 miles) north-east of Exeter. It is a busy civilian airfield with a mix of light aircraft, microlights and occasionally wing walking.
During the Second World War, as RAF Dunkeswell. The station was originally planned as a No. 10 Group, RAF Fighter Command, then a No. 19 Group RAF Coastal Command airfield, but was transferred for use by American units.
It was first used by the American United States Army Air Forces Antisubmarine Command, 479th Antisubmarine Group, as a base of operations to fly antisubmarine missions over the Bay of Biscay using specialised Consolidated B-24 Liberator bombers from August until November 1943.
In November, the United States Army Air Forces turned over the antisubmarine mission to the United States Navy and its Liberators were reassigned to Navy Patrol Bomber Squadron VPB-103, Fleet Air Wing 7, which continued aerial antisubmarine operations from the station, the AAF aircraft being redesignated under the USN/USMC system of the time as PB4Y-1 Liberators. This was the first United States Navy unit to train with the RAF, later followed by VB-105 and VB-110. The Naval antisubmarine squadrons moved to RAF Upottery in November 1944.
In that forgotten happy era without the Internet, it was the State Republican Library of the Ukrainian SSR named after the CPSU.
After the declaration of independence, the library became known as the State Library of Ukraine, and in 1994, according to the Presidential Decree, it received the status of the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine.

Today, we know of 224 bird species living around Lake Bafa. On the slopes of Latmos Mountain (Beşparmak Dağı) twenty different orchids and endemic plants are to be found. Lake Bafa was declared a national park in 1989. The park covers 65 square kilometres and is home to birds like the Dalmatian pelican, fish eagle, common tern, pygmy cormorant and heron while the lake itself is populated by those famous eels, Bafa grey mullet, sea bass and sea bream. Wild boar, foxes, wildcats, hedgehogs and badgers all inhabit the surrounding Latmos Mountains. The unique flora and fauna of the lake and its surrounding attract birdwatchers, botanists, painters and nature lovers; the giant slabs of rock and the ancient walking trails are a paradise for hikers and boulder-climbing, and last but not least, the lake is perfect for boat trips.
