As some of you know. I have been without a camera for some time now... each time I would think I was going to choose that next baby. A financial obstacle would always get in the way.
Awhile ago... a fellow Flickr friend made an incredibly generous offer to give me his old camera to use. Free of charge, no strings attached... at the time, I had politely declined. The offer alone was enough to bring a tear to my eyes.
"You are a sweetie Brent"
I eventually decided to take him up on this wonderful offer... the camera arrived this past weekend. (and) I have a series of shots I did Sunday that I will post this week.
But first, I wanted to start my new Flickr life with a few photos featuring the camera itself... some of you may recognize it. Please check out his photostream. Brent and the rest of the gang in Winnipeg are quite special people.

As for my financial situation... things are much smoother now and I even have a camera I've been thinking about. But, right now, more than anything, I want to thank Brent for making it possible for me to get an early start on this.
"Hugs & kisses dear friend"
Ageing Without Clause
Harbouring few views is the one you see, your loungeroom furniture threadbare like the lawn you
look out at, your tilting naval-ship wallpaper as disorientating as the pale ceiling-ed sky, those masts
and chimney stacks background behind the wire
baskets that hold your things, the knickknacks and souvenirs, the incidentals so that you wonder if your weeping eye can unstick its barnacle gaze, smelted against a crystal-love that has surely disturbed the rain. You listen for the shrill call of plovers, sigh as you
fight against long seconds, your children teetering
in you like a shiver, their incandescent selves glowing like a hologram. And pillow-hardened, tooth-ground,
you don’t speak of wanting—when once you would
have mentioned so much now there’s nothing you
know, except that uncertainty parades, pure and unmitigated, swirling at your feet.

I shot this image about a month ago when seawater was still warm and at last quite after the summer massive invasion of tourists. There was no one and I was so happy to take a bath completely naked and with a silver wig on! But, at one point it came a man who stopped on the rocks in front of me, staring. Fortunately I wasn't alone and he asked if we were shooting for a commercial or something like that. I ducked in the water and said : NO! It's personal! And with my surprise he nodded with no apparent intention to move form that rock. Thankfully, his mobile rang and he went away. People are crazy! XD

For FGR.
I would have included the baby, but she was napping at the time...Waking a teething baby is like...just really bad.
And...to everyone who saw my pictures of me feeling really crappy this morning...Thank you so much for your kind words...And Cherron, I know you love me...lol. I have eaten breakfast and lunch and I'm feeling 100% better.

I can do without the pictures, but I REALLY want conversations in books! Reading these quotes again just now reminded me what a magical event it was to read Alice in Wonderland and other stories in my childhood. Thanks for the reminder, OxfordGirl!

Well Mum, Day 10 without you. I asked the photographer to do a portrait shot showing me in all my magnificence. You know Mum, I can be very aristocratic looking when I want to be. I have made so many Flickr friends who have confirmed for me what I already know: I'm gorgeous, no doubt about it!

I was walking towards the Caffé Umbria when it occurred to me to test the OneStep SX-70 without the ND filter. As I was getting ready to snap the photo the man--probably in his late 60s-- that was walking towards the door hurried his step and covered his face with the paper.
Okay. So he evidently did not want to be in the photo. No problem. It probably was not going to come out anyway. Right?
So in I went, made the queue and waited for the barista to take my order. I was distracted looking at the pastry/gelato/ Fiori chocolate case for a while but as I turned to give my beverage order I noticed the gentleman standing not far from me, smiling.
The photo finished developing as I waited for my drink to be poured so I showed it to him while making a funny comment about how he was making a run for it to avoid being in the photo but that he should not worry as his face would not come out anyway. The barista wanted to see it too.
I was handed my coffee and I sat by the window with the T-Style I grabbed from the magazine rack. About 30 minutes later the same gentleman, on his way out the door, came over to my seat and handed me his New York Times, wished me a nice day and walked away not before I thanked him and complimented him on his gesture.

I am sometimes ashamed to be English
“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
― Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets
I am NOT a 'WORKAHOLIC'. I only constantly aim to see the end result!
"Just Joey" is a Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance ( to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened.
This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.
The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems.
Each blousy flower can grow to 8-12.5 cm wide. Hybrid Teas are the world's most popular type of rose by choice due to their colour and flower form.
With their long stems, it gives them the advantage, over others, as cut flowers.
Most shrubs tend to be very upright, reaching up to 1.8 metres and are recurrent-flowering (flowering constantly during the season, unlike wild dog roses that flower once).
Have a wonderful day, and thank you for your time and comments, M, (*_*)

Miyajima island is where the Floating Torii is found. The famous 16 metre tall torii is the eighth from the period of Heian, and was constructed in 1875.
The torii of Itsukushima Shrine is one of Japan's most popular tourist attractions, and the view of the gate in front of the island's Mount Misen is classified as one of the Three Best Views of Japan.
The gate only appears to be floating at high tide; when the tide is low, the gate is surrounded by mud and can be accessed on foot from the island.

Most common rendition of the classic Walter Teague-designed Texaco stations without canopy over pump island. Texaco built thousands of these stations between 1937 and 1960, with modified versions of this design continued until 1966, when Texaco adopted the "Matawan" design featuring mansard roofing, exterior stone facing and service bays mounted to the side of the station.

Where would I be without my craft stash...that would be an idea for my next 100 x challenge ;) Just had to quickly grab a few bits and get todays photo out of the way...I mean I carefully planned and took ages over this ;) Our new grandson is coming home today, such an exciting time so there will be very little time for Flickr (or anything else) for a while...I will try to stop by when I can and may just have to hit the fave button for a while. I will try to keep up with challenges though.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Oh moon, without me, do not shine;
Oh earth, without me, do not grow,
Oh time, without me, do not go.
...Oh, you cannot go, without me.”

The bridge was designed in 1748 by William Etheridge (1709–76), and was built in 1749 by James Essex the Younger (1722–84). It has subsequently been repaired in 1866 and rebuilt to the same design in 1905.
The myth that the bridge was originally built without fastenings at the joints, but could not be rebuilt successfully without introducing fastenings at the joints, might owe its origin to a change in the nature of the fastenings during the 1905 rebuilding.
Although it appears to be an arch, it is composed entirely of straight timbers built to an unusually sophisticated engineering design, hence the name. A replica of the bridge was built in 1923 near the Iffley Lock in Oxford.

drop the cookies into the coffee? funny.
clean up coffee from table and tiles? not so funny.
