Nothing comes without price. After few enjoyable hours at the the top of Traweng (1981 m), laborious descend to Tauplitzalm (1650 m) following a steep path covered with loose rocks and boulders. The descend was more challenging than going up, but we managed to get down in one piece, except the two squashed bananas in my wife's backpack and me having couple bruises. Most importantly, my trustful Canon was intact. Tauplitzalm, Liezen; Styria, Austria.
I'm of the philosophy that almost without exception all of the landscape photographers who's photos I see get their best photos near where they live, since it better lends to being out on the really good days instead of the typical average days of lengthy travels. This has made me stick much closer to my home anymore since I know it holds true for me, but I go over areas much finer than in the past. This particular Saturday had our peak color, and I spent some time of byways I seldom travel. I was able to locate numerous new growth stands of small Tulip Poplars that featured trunks that gave the forest an odd appearance. I just added some small maples for color and spent quite a bit of time in these places. I actually could have done better with a different lens and ladder to get the angles I really wanted, but did climb on top of my vehicle a few times in the spots that were accessible.

He listened my camera shutter sound, without moving! They can get my scent from meters away, he is maybe one year old but incredible alert.

I originally found this for the Snap Game, but oftentimes, by the time I search for the picture and get it posted, someone has already made a "snap". Oh well. Sooner or later this will be an appropriate snap. Meanwhile, not a bad sky through a window at a construction site. (066rot8cloudsthruwindowofconstructionadjcrp-CD8aprilfoolsday2004))
Bathing fun for the sparrow society without having to pay admission.
Sparrow Bath
A little sparrow sits by the water
and dips its beak in it.
'Oh, how wonderful', it thinks,
and then hops in a bit.
It calls its brothers and sisters,
the whole sparrow army.
They come out of their nests
and everyone chirps loudly.
With true sparrow courage,
without any fear,
they plunge into the water
and were so happy there.

Es ist viel zu heiß
Badespaß für die Spatzengesellschaft, ganz ohne Eintritt zahlen zu müssen.
Spatzenbad
Ein Spätzlein sitzt am Wasserbad
und taucht den Schnabel ein.
'Oh herrlich', denkt es dabei grad'
und hüpft dann ganz hinein.
Es ruft die Brüder und Schwestern,
das ganze Spatzenheer.
Sie kommen aus ihren Nestern
Und zwitschern gar so sehr.
Mit echtem Spatzenmut,
ganz ohne sich zu scheuen,
stürzen sie sich in die Flut
und taten sich soo freuen.

Without visual references to compare its size, it's difficult to say if this is a real lighthouse or a model. What do you think, is it real?

It feels like a lifetime,
A thousand days have passed by
Since I held you close to me
If I could see that smile from my friend
I know that I could live again
I need you here with me
Heaven knows what to say
Even though for right
Nw you're so far away
I hope and I pray
Somewhere in your heart I'll always stay
Girl, lately my sun doesn't shine without you
Never noticed what it feels like to be without you
Feels like I took my last step
And my last breath in my life ending
Had to say just what I was feeling, girl
'Cause my sun doesn't shine,
Sun doesn't shine without you

Have A Great Day My Friends.
Took a quick trip to the Oregon coast over the weekend. We stayed in Arch Cape but also traveled up north to Cannon Beach.

Without a doubt my favourite animal at Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park is the Armadillo! Armadillo is Spanish for 'little armoured ones'!
The Six-banded Armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) is the third largest species of armadillo in the world. On average, an adult measures 40cm long and has a tail two-thirds this length. They are distinguished by their pointed and flattened heads, which are covered by large plates arranged in a distinctive pattern. Their body consists of 6 moveable bands (hence their name), which are covered with thin grey-brown hair.
Six-banded armadillos have very poor eyesight, relying on their keen sense of smell to detect prey and predators. The six-banded armadillo is mostly diurnal so they are active during the day. Unlike other species of armadillo, the six-banded armadillo cannot roll into a ball, so they avoid their predators by fleeing into a nearby burrow, they are fantastic diggers!
Six-banded armadillos are found throughout Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Suriname and Uruguay in South America. They can be found in various habitats, from grassland to rainforest, but they are mainly found on open plains.
A picture of a watch without anything else is at worst an image of someone else’s art and at best can be a showcase for the photographer’s expertise at exposure and composition. This image has more meaning to me than you may grasp at first glance so I’ll complete the story here. SPOILER ALERT: It’s a bit long so if you’d like to skip it ... that’s Okay. Just remember to enjoy Today.
The title may attract the attention of a few people already familiar with the acronym. More later ... I purchased the timepiece pictured some 50 or more years ago and it has always been a disappointment ... it still looks almost pristine! It’s promise was that it was self-winding, that is by some engineering magic once it was wound and put on my wrist it somehow was supposed to stay wound enough to keep “good time”. Well, here’s the basic truth; if I wind it up and let it lay on the shelf it will keep perfect time until it runs down in a couple of days. If put it on my wrist it will randomly stop for 5 or 10 minutes at a time from the first hour on ... making it functionally useless!
In the mid-80s after a life changing event I learned that I can only live One Day at a Time (ODaaT). I realized this independent worthless timepiece is in fact a constant reminder that I only have today ... yesterday is history and tomorrow is not yet in play.
It has no other numbers than today’s calendar number and day ... today ... if I keep it wound. My every attempt to use it for my purposes by wearing it ... my actions ... screws up it’s basic time keeping function so if I let go and let it do it’s thing on the shelf all works just fine. I’m some 16 years into retirement and I removed my “working” watch the day I retired ... I know where time is being kept and I can freely live TODAY. If you got this far Happy Macro Monday ... and enjoy today. HMM Everyone.
FGR asked what vice we can't live without. For me, it is Coke Zero.
At one point, I drank two Double Gulps of the stuff each day. My current Coke habit of one can a day is relatively good!

Norio decided that taking off his tunic was a good idea. He also found out that he got chilly without his tunic so he had to stay near the heater...
“In a dark tunnel
New dawn approaching
With a sphere of light ever glowing
Let it go as it grows on forever
And we breathe it in
And then the world will grow
And then the world will know of you,
Of all things love, of all things true”

I loved to make this photo. I needed something difficult enough to make myself feel challenged and doing this shot really was a challenge! I did the bodypaint all by myself, though I used a very useful tutorial I found on youtube. In particular I spent a lot of time doing the facial make-up in order to give my face a very doll-like look. I'm happy with the result and I wish you will like it too ^_^

Thank you for checking out my picture. I was inspired by the bright colours of Andy Warhol's work. It is bright and punchy and I think perfect for summer. I hope you like it. Please let me know what you think and view in Lightbox for the best effect.
The World Without Us
Part 3
So much went into this shot that I don't even know where to begin with explaining the editing process. Essentially I just used composite after composite, using a variety of brushes and blending modes to get everything just right.
I decided to go in a slightly different direction with this shot compared to the previous two, and used less Urban Exploration composites and used more texture layers. The birds, hanging light, and some of the debris on the Peace Tower are UrbEx composites, the rest is various composites of greenery, rust, and peeling paint.
The most difficult part of this project at the moment is that it is currently winter in Ottawa, and while I do have an idea or two for a winter decay photo, I have a very limited supply of potential composites for a winter shot. As soon as the snow melts, I'll get out and start taking more general street photos.
