"Feeling so far away, far away
But I gotta find my way, find my way
They tell me don't go
But I know it's time to go
'Cause I'm singing solo
I'm singing solo, solo
Unlock the door, climb the stairs
Find you asleep in your favourite chair
You'd be surprised that I
Made it so soon
Missing you with every breath I take
Wishing you were with me when I wake
Thinking of you my love
What can I do ... "

today technology embraces many fields, sectors. Design, elaborate, build. All simplified, yet the error is always behind the door. This Sanctuary dates back to 1530, built overhanging a mountain corner where it can be reached on foot through tunnels dug out of the rock. All without modern technology but with only the strength of the arms and an extraordinary intellect.

Golden Bridge - Puente Dorado
The bridges have their origins in the prehistory. Possibly the first bridge of the story was a tree a prehistoric man who used to connect the two banks of a river. They also used stone slabs to small streams where there were no trees nearby. The following bridges bows were made of logs or planks and eventually stones, using a simple bracket and placing cross beams. Most of these early bridges were very poorly constructed and seldom bear heavy loads.

I am not generally that successful at bird photography even when I have consciously gone out to see birds. This shot of the chaffinch was pure luck. Mary and I were on a walk recently I had taken a shot or two of some wild flowers . I spotted the bird and took a couple of shots without changing settings not really expecting anything reasonable. In fact I am quite pleased with this one I know it could be sharper but for a grab shot its not too bad . It is very heavily cropped
Hope you are all managing to cope in this strange New World we are living in . Of course I hope you and yours remain well and safe
THANKS FOR YOUR VISITING BUT CAN I ASK YOU NOT TO FAVE AN IMAGE WITHOUT ALSO MAKING A COMMENT. MANY THANKS KEITH. ANYONE MAKING MULTIPLE FAVES WITHOUT COMMENTS WILL SIMPLY BE BLOCKED

During August and September, we observed 4 juvenile Piping Plovers in the same general area of the beach. They were usually in the tire tracks or up in the dunes on the dry sand. Nice images but I prefer my shorebirds in the surf or on the wet sand. It was late in the afternoon with about 90 minutes of light left when we came upon our 4 friends. Were where they? In the tire tracks of course. We had to make a decision. Do we wait and hope that the birds move to the water or continue on our way and hope to find something else to work with. We decided to give them 15 minutes. Boy am I glad we waited. They did indeed head to the water and were outrageously cooperative. They made up for all the hours we patiently waited over the summer. We took tons of images but this was my favorite.

We've had the joy to see wandering male Wood ducks. They seem lost without females. One female visits occasionally, but I'm guessing the females are encouraging their young to jump from trees.
NB. I lightened this a tad in Camera Raw. Please tell me if this seems too light. I also cropped this capture. They are so skittish, hence the 1000mm distance.

Blue-gray gnatcatchers are, without a doubt, one of the most special and entertaining birds the US has to offer. With a pretty sky-blue back contrasting with a paler shade of blue, along with white and black, they boast what I think is one of the more underrated color combinations when it comes to Neotropical migrants, and I’m sure they know it because they sure like to flip those tails around (kidding, that’s a foraging technique). That isn’t the only thing about them that’s underrated; males are pretty great songsters too, emitting an intricate series of what is both their own little babbles and little phrases of other species songs. I even found yesterday that they are able to mimic new vocalizations on the spot. Unfortunately, these guys have the luck of returning earlier than the warblers, and they only get two weeks of fame before what many people consider the real show falls upon our forests. That’s okay, though- they get right to pairing up and nest-building and have fledged young by the end of June, so I think they couldn’t care less about how much attention we pay to them.
This is at a place called The Springs about half way up Mt Wellington in Tasmania. There is an old converted caravan there (Bentwood Coffee Van) that serves really good coffee and nice food - we often make the 10 minute journey out of the city for a lunch or coffee break in a place where you could almost imagine you were trekking through wilderness. This shot was taken a short distance from the picnic table.
While we were there a heavy mist rolled in and gave the whole area a mystical atmosphere.
And if you look really closely you will catch a glimpse of my eldest son in his blue jacket off the track on the left.
