“A Time For War and A Time For Peace”
Steven A. Scroggins
In the process of creating my Relief Sculpture I decided to also make the piece Functional Art. The clock is operational, which besides allowing
the viewer the opportunity to check the current time it also is meant
to emphasize that, as Soldiers in War, Time Marches On!
The material incorporated in the project builds on this theme as they are recycled and reclaimed from Farragut Naval Training Station
which was built 1942 in response to the Japanese Imperial Navy’s
attack on Pearl Harbor. Farragut was decommissioned in 1945
and the area transitioned once again into a place of peace.
There will always be wars and rumors of wars.
This threat is portrayed by the ominous protruding nails.
Time takes its’ toll on us all as indicated by the affect of rust
on the spikes and nails which are suspended in the blood of our soldiers.

There is an appointed time for everything.

In Jesus' 'I Am' statements, he said that "I am the bread of life". Andy called the crew to partake in bread and grape juice to discuss how their faith is built around that statement, while sharing the food.
Flux. The Movie.
The post office was holding my mail hostage because, as I don't really get any, I wasn't checking my mailbox often enough for their tastes. The small pile of papers is all I care about - bank statements and insurance cards. Also, a stack of magazines I don't remember subscribing to, and half a tote of Saturday flier junk mail.
On October 8th, I arrived at Wurster Hall and saw this flyer as an answer to a “official memo’. I guess the spirit of the 60th has been crushed but not destroyed.
