"Archive"
She is safe now, in the only way we know how to keep things safe: as image.
The body swallowed the camera because the body wanted what the camera held. And what the camera held was her—the white horse, standing in a field of red roses, lit softly, perfectly still. A portrait. A memory. A lie we tell ourselves about permanence.
Outside the lens, the red world continues its slow becoming—folding, dripping, reaching toward a center it can never enter. The image is sealed. The capture is complete. The horse exists now only in the circular frame of documentation, surrounded by flowers that match the color of the walls that hold her prison.
Or her sanctuary. I cannot tell anymore.
The hands are gone. They reached and reached until they realized reaching was not the way in. The way in is looking. The way in is wanting precisely enough that the wanting becomes a room, becomes a body, becomes a world that grows around the thing you cannot stop seeing.
The rose outside the lens is the rose inside the lens is the rose is the rose is the rose.
She is archived now. She will never move again. She will never have to.

“ Well Reverend, I don’t know if Public Education can Work… Then Come Down to See What Mrs. Hope is doing!” (Statement Made By Reverend Sharpton during his message today)
Wenonah High School closed out its annual Black History Month Celebration with a message from controversial civil rights leaders, Reverend Al Sharpton. Sharpton embodied a powerful anointing from the moment he touched the stage and for the duration of his timely message. Sharpton touched on topics that many are afraid to address such as charter schools, immigration, prison reform, gun control and parent-child communication.
Hosted by the Wenonah High School Culinary Arts Department (Diann Pilgrim, Instructor), the audience was treated to an elegant breakfast prepared by the students in the program. Reverend Sharpton commended the program and the school for helping to ensure that students are equipped with a trade that can support them after graduation.
The spirit of unity resonated throughout the building. Many left the Wenonah High School gymnasium with a renewed commitment towards the work of social justice and equality.
