This is my artist Statement for my fall quarter final assignment. Essentially my project focused on how others see the world from their own eyes and I tried to mimic this by first taking a picture of the person and then standing in their place and taking a picture of what they were looking out at. These pictures were accompanied by numbers which represented what number in the population they were when they were born by asking for their date of birth and transferring this data to the website listed below (unfortunately, these numbers that I had used previously have been lost when I transferred images from my old laptop).

The website is: www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15391515

For example, my date of birth is the 8th of April in the year 1993.

When I was born, I was the 5,534,992,049th person alive on earth.

My pictures go in a sequence with those born earlier first followed by those born more recently. The first number was close to 3 billion while the last picture of the twins was closer to 7 billion.

Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).

They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.

They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

This is a colourful statement necklace! Most of the components are handmade. I make the beads from wood pulp and paper pulp and then paint them by hand with extra love and care! I also made some beads from polymer clay. This necklace is big and beautiful and at the same time light thanks to the chosen material!

Our traditional arts are still alive in our culture.

We were encouraged act like "Indians" for entertainment.

The popular image of us is often wrong, or only part of our story.

We kept our rights to hunt and fish in Michigan.

We continue to protect our treaty rights.

We lived and thrived using nature's resources.

Our traditional ways of hunting, fishing, and gathering are protected by treaties.

We have fished and hunted here for generations.

Hunting and wild game has been crucial to our economy.

We have lived according to nature's cycles.

The Anishnabe woodcarving tradition is distinctive.

Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power, Shared Presentations Stage 3, Thematic Arena 3, Opportunity petal, an IAEA Statement Event at the United Nations Climate Change Conference UNCCC held at the Expo City Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Blue Zone, 1 December 2023

The IAEA Event: Net Zero Needs Nuclear Power will highlight the crucial role of nuclear power as part of the energy mix. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mr Rafael Mariano Grossi will announce the ‘IAEA Statement on Nuclear Power’ supported by 40 countries, both those already operating nuclear power plants and newcomers. Together these countries acknowledge that all available low-carbon technologies, including nuclear power, should be recognized, and actively supported. The Statement underlines the benefits of nuclear power, including that nuclear power plants produce no harmful greenhouse gas emissions; that nuclear energy contributes to energy security and the stability of power grids; and that it mitigates air pollution at a local level.

Bit of a weird day today, some really good bits, some very surprising bits... I just want to be rid of this increasing burden of school.
