A bit more slidey faffery with this image for Sliders Sunday. I think I prefer this even more vintage style to the original...first comment. HSS

October 2022: A month in 31 pictures

Not really tea, just the dregs from the teapot with a little water added fill the cup. As for sympathy, feel free...

I've taken very few still life images with my iPhone (apart from the spotlight series). Thought I'd attempt this one using the menu from my birthday tea at Luton Hoo. My Canon is redundant for the foreseeable future so I have got to work out a new way of doing things that won't damage my back more than it is already.

Probably one more for Sliders Sunday, as tried to enhance this the best I could. Also, as you'd probably guessed on my earlier effort on this shot, the Yacht was added from another shot I'd taken.

I really missed my tripod for these seascapes.. For one I ended up with too much movement on the bracketed shots to make into HDR, and two I had to shoot them at a very shallow DoF, due to the low light.

Although posted a bit early, decided to add this to the Sliders Sunday group, HSS everyone :-)

Smile on Saturday: Begins with S - Star fish and seeds.

The seeds are collected from marigolds in my garden.

I am quite cross with myself as once I realised I had placed the front starfish upside down, the light was gone. So instead of the beautiful textures we have a smoother surface. In defence of my silly mistake, I have been very busy and I had my flu jab this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed for no symptoms, so far just a sore arm.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Do you see a face (with a beard), too?

This 'face' reminds me a bit of Treebeard of J. R. R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings' : ))

[or Baby Groot, as Skyline:) mentions in the comments below]

After an appointment in the city I cycled a bit with my bike through the neighbourhood during blue hour, enjoying the fresh air.

The afternoon rain had formed little puddles on the benches and wooden platforms ... and I loved how the warm lights and illuminated trees were reflected in them

Glad I had my camera with me (as most of the time now ;))

Sorry - busy work day - I will try to pop in now and then today ... will be browsing properly in the evening

There are hundreds of little yellow wildflowers all over the place as we move closer to Spring. It's warm but still cold...that mixed-up time when the weather doesn't quite know which season it is.

This (lonely) leaf looks a bit like it's waving goodbye, doesn't it !

I am very busy at work these days and will be away the comming weekend ... so I might still be a bit slow with catching up and commenting : )

Please take care !

#58 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

These peonies were in my flowers delivery last week. The ones in my garden are too precious to pick...intentionally, I did snip a bud by mistake. I think these peonies will only last one more day, already petals are starting to shed. They just don't last long enough.

Do they remind you of someone?

Happy International Women's Day!

This is a sprig of a tamarack tree, otherwise known as larch, a conifer that is found throughout Canada. Conifers don't typically lose their needles, but tamaracks are deciduous and lose their needles each fall. Before the needles drop off, they turn from green to gold. As you can see, this sprig is nearing its transition into becoming fully golden. Happy Monday and new week, everyone!

Thank you for stopping by and for leaving me a comment, much appreciated!

I was stumped for ideas today until I saw these little violets growing amongst the lavender.

Sorry to post and run again, I have a book group meeting this evening (via zoom) back later to comment

Day 122/365:

Macro Monday - Leather

Nothing very exciting, just my car key fob. Low key because I've had a busy day and the light had gone by the time I got round to this. I went for a high contrast punchy look though as I felt it was more interesting. HMM

Day 20/365:

Inspired by Jess www.flickr.com/photos/jyy_sue/51822260020/in/faves-289922... and having run out of light. I decided to revisit an image I took a few years ago. It was a MM challenge for lighting an image with candlelight. This image is different as I used my Lensbaby Velvet 56 (it was already on my camera) less candles and a different composition. I also took a shot of the background and used it as a texture overlay.

18/31: October: A month in 31 pictures

Not much time for photography today. Our grandson was with us again...we are making the most of it before winter sets in and we may not be able to see him so much. So today's offering is low key since the evenings are drawing in.

The book is one of my finds from a visit to a second hand book shop in Norfolk a couple of years ago. The rose from a beautiful bouquet sent by my son and daughter-in-law recently.

Incredibly small female crab spider, just a few mm body length. Perhaps a juvenile. I only saw her on these native kangaroo paw flower buds due to the contrasting colours. Out of place when I came upon her, as they usually hang out on flowers of similar colour to themselves.

This could be Thomisus spectabilis, commonly called spectacular crab spider or simply white crab spider.

Usually white, but can have patches of yellow, or appear fully yellow. The legs and head appear almost translucent.

Another suggestion is Zygometis xanthogaster, the milky flower spider (due to the eye ornamentation).

Of interest is that the spider also takes advantage of its colour scheme's reflectance of UV light to create a colour contrast in the visual field of the bees that subsequently attracts them.

Pulling on my snow togs to go shovel out my car yesterday, I reflected on my summer wardrobe -- shorts, a tee shirt, and sandals -- and how much more quickly it is to dress in that outfit, than what it takes to pull on all my layers of winter clothing and boots, so much effort leaves me out of breath sometimes.
