Photographed on a Monday afternoon wander with Kiyoshi-san and NJ. Heatley Avenue, Strathcona, Vancouver. October 5, 2015.
In the heat of summer, where grass crunches underfoot and the sun spares no shade, one blue thistle — Eryngium amethystinum — stands tall as a reminder that beauty persists even in drought.
This was a test shot using the legendary Takumar 50mm f/1.4 (M42) on the Canon R7, set at f/2.2 — and it immediately reveals its charm: soft, swirling bokeh and circular highlights make it perfect for dreamy close-up scenes.
I'll surely return to this lens again.

I've been working on some macro shots lately; this tree still is managing to hang on to some nice yellow leaves. I think it turned out pretty well, but tell me what you think! Positives and things I can improve on!!
14/30: April 2021: A month in 30 pictures
I was stumped for ideas today until I saw these little violets growing amongst the lavender.
Sorry to post and run again, I have a book group meeting this evening (via zoom) back later to comment
Photographed in situ, one of the pretty flowers on a lemon tree in my neighbour’s garden. He often kindly shares his crop with us.
Native to Asia, Citrus limon is a species of small evergreen tree in the flowering plant family Rutaceae.
I love that even the foliage gives off a lemon scent, not just the fruit.

Coming to rest on New Zealand flax, a female fiery skimmer enjoys the sunshine and gentle breeze this summer's day.
She has been busy and is showing her age, her summer nearly over. I think she deserves all the rest she can get.
A native dragonfly; here in Australia they can be found in Victoria, up through New South Wales, Queensland and Northern Territory.

"Family photo albums are so powerful in that they make kids feel valued, cherished and respected." - Nancy O'Dell
A soft hardcover ... this is a photo album with baby and toddler photos of me ... and no, although some of them are really cute - I won't show them here 😄
The fabric binding feels like fluffy terry cloth to the touch and has a baby girl wearing a blue dress embroidered on the top

Macro Monday - Candy
Anything goes for 2021 - In a row
#79 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby
These tiny candies (sweets to those of us in the UK) were a free gift with a shopping delivery. I instantly thought photo prop. I placed them on a striped plate. The sweeties are mostly white with a couple of pastel colours in there but I desaturated so you can still see the slightest hint of colour in a couple of them. HMM

It was very bright and sunny when I was at Borde Hill recently, but the king found a shady spot where he could sit and mull over weighty matters. I'm not sure he made any big decisions, but he definitely did a lot of thinking. :)
Day 191/365:
A succulent at Holt Garden Centre. In Norfolk. I'm so thankful for this iPhone 13 Pro. Faffed with in Snapseed.
Not my sharpest capture but I definitely think it still works in this case. I was battling with the wind trying to get the shot :)
Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) catkin.
Alexandra Palace, North London.

#58 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby
These peonies were in my flowers delivery last week. The ones in my garden are too precious to pick...intentionally, I did snip a bud by mistake. I think these peonies will only last one more day, already petals are starting to shed. They just don't last long enough.

Original 'Antiko Hildesheimer Rose' = Silverware with a romantic touch (here: dessert forks)
[This special kind of cutlery has been produced for about a century. In the 1920s the first copies of the Hildesheim Rose cutlery were made, after the 2nd World War this cutlery pattern came into fashion again. The name 'Hildesheimer Rose' is said to go back to souvenir spoons of the city of Hildesheim]
HaPpY CrAzY TuEsDaY, everyone !! :))
I will be browsing later in the evening due to work

Original 'Antiko Hildesheimer Rose' - Silberbesteck (Kuchengabeln)
Day 248/365:
These three metal boules are a decoration in my lounge. I bought them on holiday in Menorca years ago. For want of anything else I thought I'd put them in the spotlight today. I placed them on some bubblewrap to add another dimension. Popped some textures over the bubblewrap then into Nik software to add a bit of drama.
"Looking back over my shoulder
With an aching deep in my heart
I wish we were starting over
Oh, instead of drifting so far apart"
Paul Carrack - Over My Shoulder - Air Studios 2010 (I like this groovy version of the classic Mike & the Mechanics' song)
Crazy Tuesday - theme of October 20th, 2020: Rear View
I took my camera with me when I went to the office today. On my way back home on my bike I took a little detour through the neighbourhood - still looking for a photo for today's theme 'Rear View', when I came upon that scene ... (just in time ;))
Edit: No, that's not my car :))) ... it's a Mini Cooper, by the way
Happy CrAzY Tuesday (evening), everyone ! :D
And Happy Windows Wednesday(s) !! :)
Macro Mondays - theme of August 25, 2019: "Goes together like" ... strings and a (violin) bow
The violin bow is a tensioned stick which has horse-tail hair affixed to it. There is no music without the bow moving across the strings to cause vibration - although some compositions do include 'pizzicato' (plucking) or 'col legno' (soft striking of the string with the stick of the bow); but it's 'mainly' a bowed string instrument, mind ;))
The golden bokeh is a LED string of lights shining through the bridge of my violin.
(Width of this capture: 4 cm / 1,57 inches)
Happy Macro Mondays everyone !!
Thanks for taking a look at my image and your feedback - very much appreciated
