Welcome to the unofficial website of the All Blacks.
This is an all-black, female carpenter bee; not the prettiest of bees despite its rather attractive bluish iridescent wings and shiny, blackish, black-lead makeup - No swooning, please!
Happy Halloween!
There's still a "trick" or two to come for which you must read on. You can do this by simply scrolling down the page a bit.

Tried to focus on the eye only. It´s ISO 3200, so please forgive me the low quality of the insect, but the light was fantastic and I had only seconds to capure this moment. 1 min later there was no sun at the horizon.

Five little flowers that have managed to survive in the garden thus far, despite the stormy weather and frosts. For this week's Macro Monday theme of 'five' HMM!
Many thanks for the kind comments and faves; they are very much appreciated :)

I will catch up in the evening
(Taken from my archives) I took several pics of flowers from my tiny garden and I used my extension tubes attached to my 40mm lens. I was looking for a very small DoF and I got it. But I wanted more definition to the petals so I "painted" them using the liquid filter. It's a lot of fun! I've posted similar images I hope you'll like it.
In memory of late Hans Holt, one of the administrators of Macro Mondays.
Thanks a lot, HansHolt - you will be missed!

Should I dare? This tiny crab spider is wondering ;-) But then she crawled around for a while and back and forth ... I find it funny that this type of spider can change its color ;-)

Hello Everyone,
Yesterday, I visited a local park's flower garden in early morning. Much to my horror, most of the flowers were black with frost! Although most of the hydrangeas were browning significantly, I found one with some remaining colour.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments! I LOVE hearing from you! Have a fantastic day and weekend ahead!

Anything goes 2021 - Forest or woodland
A trip to Wollaton Park in Nottingham today. Found some 'shrooms in the woods. Unfortunately the leaves haven't turned fully yet so no beautiful autumn colours but we did see some deer which was pretty amazing.

#Beads
A wearable rainbow in the form of a crocheted rope bracelet, made by a friend of my mother's (magrit k.). I also have a necklace to accompany the bracelet but with a diameter of 1 cm/ 0,39 inches (just like the bracelet) it is a little too thick for my personal (neck) comfort.
I've watched a few tutorials on YouTube to understand how this type of bracelet (or necklace) is made, and I should admit that my head was spinning after watching just a few minutes. Crocheting, braiding, or even knitting have never been my favourite DIY pastimes, I'm simply not good at all at this repetitive type of craft. And this style of bead crocheting seems to be super complicated and finicky because the very tiny seed beads (rocailles) are the required main "ingredient". So it definitely was a lot easier (and faster) to photograph the bracelet than to make it ;)
This is a single shot of the bracelet which I'd placed in front of my go-to black foam sheet. The bracelet has a magnetic clasp which I've opened before so I had a single bracelet layer only. I've taken another photo for which I've used the necklace that I had arranged in several layers but that was a little bit too much of a "rainbow colour explosion", plus I also prefer the slightly weird-looking "space worm" shape of the single layer bracelet with the black negative space around. Shot wide open at F/2.8 to get a super tight focus and some nice, bubbly "ball pit" bokeh :)
HMM, Everyone!

Only a few weeks before it's... tulip time again :) Hooray! As a teaser, here's a sunny tulip from 2019 which I've photographed at the Tulipan flower show at the Britzer Garten, Berlin's most beautiful public park. The lens responsible for this crazy bokeh is my vintage OM Zuiko Auto-S 50mm F1.4 lens. Judging from the "wild" bokeh shapes I must have taken this wide open. Stopped down a little, the bokeh becomes a tad more civilized before the bokeh balls turn into nice-looking "diamonds" at around F4.
Over the past few years, I have collected so many tulip photos from Britz alone that one might say it's enough for a lifetime, but on the other hand, you can't ever photograph too many flowers, tulips included, can you? Right :) So will I visit this year's Tulipan? You bet I will ;)
Have a nice spring (or autumn) week ahead, dear Flickr friends!

A little light in the dark can be helpful – should not be forgotten :-) I wish all those suffering from the desease some light and not to be forgotten. And I hope a smile lights up your face – maybe that helps a little bit too.
I wish everyone a nice weekend and a happy SoS!
