The last of the fall colours really pop against the first snows.

Pink Spider Flower (Cleome hassleriana) last night in between rain storms. ️️️The best kind of spiders to find on dark, rainy nights...

Armeria maritima against the setting sun on the cliffs above Soar Mill Cove. Apart from being chased by young bulls I had another interesting animal encounter while waiting for the sun to set. A single male duck suddenly landed on a narrow cliff edge ahead of me which looked incredibly out of place at that moment. The duck quickly took in the glorious coastal views then flew off along the coastline.

Spanish Bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica).

I love searching the fields around me for small creatures.

One from last year. Can´t wait to see them spring again. Maybe then it´s time for some Bokeh again :) Dedicated to my wonderful wife which is sharing this hobby with me now. Looking forward to catch them with you, my dear :)

I enjoyed some time in the gorgeous Nyman's gardens, West Sussex today. The sun was perhaps a little too bright to do the flowers justice in photos, but this beauty in the South African meadow caught my eye.

I had planned to go back to Sussex Prairie Garden this afternoon, but I was distracted by a newly emerged dragonfly, so I ended up staying in my own garden to watch it. The Helenium has largely gone over now (it was battered by last month's heavy rain), but there are still a few new flowers popping up. I love them, and not just because of their excellent name. :)

HFF to all Flickr people out there!

Barbed wire and dandelions are not usually something that catches the eye. While watching my sons ball game I waked across the street to find a beautiful fenced field of dandelions. Hard to resist.

Thanks again for the compliments about my foray into shallow focus.

It's fun.

yesterday I posted a cornflower, which is still nicely growing at our fence. Today i posted a blossom i found on the way to the kindergarten of my daughter - and i had a deja-vu feeling. I had to take this shot and post it today. Please compare both pics with each other and you will see, what i mean.

Thank you for all your visits, faves and kind comments.

Experimenting with shallow depth-of-field, I was impressed by 1.5ft focusing distance of this 50mm 1.4d lens (compared to 2.6 of 85mm 1.8 and 0.85 of 35mm 1.8) but not much with its sharpness at large apertures.

Flickr was so drunk yesterday, so I'm uploading this today instead.

HBW =)

I have recently set up a bird feeder. It seems to have acted a bit slowly, since only the occasional bird would come and feed, but then I found out why. The squirrels found it as well and they would raid and pillage the feeder, leaving little for the birds. I guess I have now been initiated into the anti-squirrel world and have started to think of ways to outsmart the squirrels. I have acquired a "squirrel-proof" feeder as well as having a squirrel baffle on the way. With these paired up, I am hoping to limit the effect the squirrels have on the birds. With just the feeder, the amount of birds have increased and become a little more comfortable with the feeder.

I have no clue what kind of bird this is, but all I know is that it is a pretty one! I see these quys quite often at my feeder and hope to see them some more.

Enjoy! :)

Iris germanica 'Synergy' in the rain. If you're in the Northampton or Western MA area, in the next week or so, the irises at Smith College's Capen Garden are exquisite right now. Even in the rain. 💗
