This is the setup for high speed photography that I am trying to create using the Arduino. On top of the arduino, I have attached a general purpose hobby shield which allows me to connect 4 IR line sensors, motors and servos. I used one IR line sensor as a beam detector for my project. When the beam is cut by a water drop passing through the U clip (from a meccano construction box), it triggers the arduino code which fires the flash unit after a fixed delay.
Now, I am working on making this setup into a permanent one. Will also work on the code and add a GUI to select delays for the flash trigger. Also, will add the code and control mechanism for the solenoid valve to control the drop rate. Also in the pipeline is the control code for firing the camera.
Gestural drawing with watercolour pencil, drawing with Micron Pigma pen. I'm glad I picked myself up after Lesson 5. I really don't like measuring! But I loved this approach!

Setup shot for the diving portraits I did a little over three years ago. One light is obvious in the frame, the other is where the red arrow is pointing, hidden by a board.

Just playing about with props and learning every day!
This is the setup I used for most of my shots tonight. Minor variations for each one. While I was shooting the black Camaro with the bare umbrellas I noticed you could see the reflection of the 'fingers' in the car. I tossed a nylon shower curtain that I picked up at Lowes to double diffuse my key light, this really smoothed out the light on the subject and killed the reflection of the umbrella. The umbrella'd sb28dx to the left was on low power just to add fill to the grill area of the car. The snooted SB800 was set up to cast a shadow on the background. It worked great on the black cars, but I shut it off for the super snake shots.
Resulting shots are here and here.
Strobist:
1 - Strobe directly above the camera with a 20 degree grid
1 - Strobe to the models back left side with a 30 degree grid
Triggered via sync cable
