Setup for Day 166. The main light was a SB800 w/ a 60x60cm softbox clamped to the car trunk door. You can't see it here, i took down the softbox already (getting too wet). The rim light was a bare SB800 covered with a plastic bag to the left.
I knew once I parked the car that's where the main light is going to be. I had no intentions on adjusting the position of the car. It was raining cats and dogs and I couldn't think quite clear lolz
Cactus laser trigger connected to a PWII pointing through a wine glass. Laser triggers the camera's Pocket Wizard, which opens the camera's shutter and also triggers the 580EXII via the PW's Relay mode.

These are the components of the setup I use for my extreme macros.
I reverse-mount a Nikon 50mm f/1.4D prime lens on a Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G telephoto lens using a 52-62mm thread coupler I got on eBay.
Reversed prime lenses act as magnifying glasses. In my setup, I use a telephoto lens to zoom into a reversed prime lens, producing extreme levels of magnification.
This particular lens setup produces images with irritating chromatic aberrations, dust spots, and minimal field depth. Nevertheless, none of my other lenses - including my conventional macro lens - can match it in terms of magnification.
Setup of the photo fest of Birthday and Christmas portraits for my daughter. Borrowed LegoDraggin's lighting gear as mine isn't as extensive yet.

DEMO Setup - DEMO Fall 2013 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California Monday October 14, 2013. Complete coverage of DEMO, the Launchpad for Emerging Technologies and Trends, can be found at bit.ly/DEMOsite.
Strobist Info:
1) Canon 430EX through a snoot with a tissue on the end of the snoot to diffuse the light. Camera right. (Used to light up the right side of the box - ends up making the hilights on the right side of the keyboard)
2) Nikon SB800 at 14mm below the picture aimed at the wall at camera left to create a large softbox like look.
Triggered using PocketWizards

Shot with my phone, sorry. This is the setup for Pair.
I have a CTO-gelled flash in the foreground, adorned with a cardboard snoot manufactured for the occasion. The camera is to the right, with a 300mm lens, and the flowers are sitting on the table to the left. In the background is the other flash, greened. The camera was color-balanced for tungsten. I triggered the camera from my laptop so I could see full-res results for every shot.
The snooted flash is at full power and the greened flash is at 1/4, but I still couldn't get enough light. The snoot, especially, cuts most of the light. Then I had one of those "Oh, duh" moments. I turned off the overhead lights, left the shutter open for 30 seconds, and triggered the flashes 3 times.
A bit of sensor noise, due to the long exposure, was mostly removed in Gimp.
These series of photos were done in a 300 sq. foot cramped studio apartment with desk lamps set on boxes that were stacked up on chairs. the crappiest setup ever but it worked. I guess that's what all young photographers with no money have to do...
Home Office/Setup Evolution.
I have been working from home now for over a year and needs/requirements have changed. Like many other people, I was made redundant in 2020. I was lucky to find another job fairly quickly hence the update.

Just a way to make things fly. You can have more angles with this, rather than just one with an average stand. Not too strong, but a bit of Blutac might help. And the big base is just to make sure the whole thing doesn't tip.
