My setup for the Venus transit along the Niagara River and being foiled by the clouds earlier in the session. Way to keep that horizon level!

That is the Coronado PST (Personal Solar Telescope), Philips ToUcam connected to the eyepiece and inside the box is my computer recording video segments. The box helps make it easier to see the display and the blue plastic thing is my Buffalo Bills rain pullover protecting the box from the bird crap and from scratching the paint. There you go.

The 'professional' setup for my abstract colored reflections in glass shots.

Step 1: Empty a tequila bottle (if you are not of legal drinking age in your country, have one or both of your parents complete step 1).

Now:

You need: 1 empty interesting textured but clear glass bottle, colorful place mats, camera, 60mm macro lens, tripod, cheap broken studio light, brno white balance lens cap, painter's tape, some patience and lots of time to kill as you try different f/stops, lighting, and points of view. Nice pastime when a Nor'easter is dumping 15+ inches of snow outside.

Blog post review

No, no amontillado, just purple dye! The turkey roaster was the perfect size to dye the bulk of the dress. This kept the dye at the exact temperature I needed it to remain to allow the dye to work (180F) for long periods of time. The hanger is used to hold the fabric I didn't want to be dyed purple, and I used an eyehook and a long section of rope to dip down & lift out.

Haha my messy setup for the

Setup shot for Bloody Mary, Snacks and Caipirinha shoot

Both flashes triggered from the popup flash using the Nikon CLS system

Setup shot for Valleri. The white bounce card on the left was not always used, see model photo for details.

This was a corner of the studio with black walls. I had her stand just a few feet from the back wall and used the softbox at an angle to get the background to go pure black.

Setup for Day 166. The main light was a SB800 w/ a 60x60cm softbox clamped to the car trunk door. You can't see it here, i took down the softbox already (getting too wet). The rim light was a bare SB800 covered with a plastic bag to the left.

I knew once I parked the car that's where the main light is going to be. I had no intentions on adjusting the position of the car. It was raining cats and dogs and I couldn't think quite clear lolz

Cactus laser trigger connected to a PWII pointing through a wine glass. Laser triggers the camera's Pocket Wizard, which opens the camera's shutter and also triggers the 580EXII via the PW's Relay mode.

Setup for the honey picture. That's a SB-800 on the table.

Resulting shot here.

Strobist:

1 - Style 600S close above the camera with 40 degree grid (trying for a ring light effect).

1 - Style 600S at camera right rear with 20 degree grid for hair light (I don't think it's doing much though).
