Strobist: Alienbees B400 on camera right, behind model at full power blasting the background to pure white (not a small strobe, I know. It belonged to the girl I was taking pictures of and wanted to try it). Vivitar 285HV on camera right through white umbrella at 1/4 power. Gelled with 1/2 CTO gel for some warmth.

The bottom board is the table, the top board is my backer-board (sacrifice board). I clamped the backer-board to the table, after bolting the sheet of aluminum to it.

Setup on the Russell Ave Canora classical guitar. James has just done some measuring before gluing the bridge.

This Ave Canora is made of Cocobolo, a Central American Rosewood (it grows on the Pacific coast side of Central America). The rosette is made of sixteen radiating Cocobolo tiles.

The sound port visible on the shoulder increases volume slightly both for the player and out front, and it also adds dimension to the tone.

Setup shot for Strobist Boot Camp Assignment #1. Two DIY 28" soft boxes, each loaded with an SB-600. An SB-28 snooted and gelled on the background.
