Handheld macro setup
EOS 550D with aftermarket batterygrip with built in intervalometer
EF 100mm f2.8 USM Macro
Cheap aluminium tripod ring with C-shaped flash bracket (normally have the C-shaped bracket on the other side of the lens to get more space for fingers for manual focusing.
TTL cord with Nissing DI866 Mk II + O-Flash ring flash adapter
Normally I have the rubberbands stretched over back of the flash unit to the front end of O-flash to make O-flash rest againts the lens hood to minimize movement and reduce strain on the tilting & swiveling flash head.
Due to the crop sensor and narrow FOV of the lens, no vignette is visible on the pictures due to rather obstructive O-flash placement. Without lens hood I could use the O-flash adapter straight from the camera, but it does block the manual focusing ring quite effectively then.
Yes, its a bit heavy. But still very mobile package and gets the job done!

Wind-Wedge III deployed - wud've been quite unbearable without it.....
The setup to create the shadow wings for my "Fire Angel" photo. This is a fairly early setup photo -- there was a lot of tweaking as I went.

setup shot:
2 bottles with styrofoam between held together with rubber bands
sb28 on lowest setting through grid, cto gel on bottom part so the female flask is more intense orange of color, I really wanted to light the bottles from below so they glowed
left is a box so the bottom of the 'bed' is in a shadow
left top is a strobe (metz 48af1) on 1/64 with grid and cto gel too too
all manually triggered by camera flash, set to 1/20th trough a small softbox to give some fill on the 'bed sheets'
and yes on the left that's a bally bumper pinball machine from 1936 used as a flash stand
