Shot through my Nikkor 135/2.8 lens at f/5.6. Strobist: Bill lit by a snooted Vivitar 283, 1/64 power, on a stand. I wanted some texture on the bill, so the light is hitting it at about a 20 degree angle. The green spot is a Canon 430EX, 1/8 power, dark green gel, through a drinking straw grid, hitting a white sheet about 5 feet behind the bill. The bill is mounted with scotch tape inside an 8x10" picture frame. The tape is cloned out in post. In the setup shot, the room is lit by another Vivitar 283 at full power bounced off the ceiling.
Monitor setup for 2019. Asus, Samsung, Sony, Asus PA248Q, Samsung LC49RG90SSNXZA, Sony TV. Monitors connected to two computers, Dell Precision T7500 and a Dell Precision T7910.
The most important part of this setup was the black GOBO to keep light off the background to produce a deep black which the client insisted on - and the SU800 controller. This was a location setup in a spare room with everything brought in and on my Skoda station wagon
The right clamp is holding the pencil which as a bonus action is pinning the leaf down to the page. The left clamp is not actually clamping anything but is (1) helping to flatten down the leaf but unfortunately also (2) casting a shadow such that I could not quite do as wide of a composition as I originally wanted. But it was all too tenuous and shaky to fiddle around very much. I accidentally nudged/bumped the leaf out of position several times while I was trying to move eraser shavings around.
Speaking of eraser shavings, I made them by scribbling with coloured pencils and then erasing it with a white eraser. Turns out that "emerald green" is way too blue, as compared to the colour of this leaf. Hence the other two pencils brought in to the effort.

Setup for a few shots I took of some cupcakes.
Sunpack 383 on 1/4 power camera left with grid. Cupcakes are sitting on thin plexiglass with black foamcore underneath. Black reflector to side to eat the light.
This is looking from the backdrop at the umbrella, camera position (the tripod), the subject, and the foamcore. You can also see the foamcore I bounced the flash into for the backdrop.

Initial setup for today's shoot, and for last week's grape shots.

Basically i cut down a much larger old metro®shelving set of wheeled shelves to make an ah-hoc computer setup/test stand.
Isn't that nice lookin' server? 2 quad-core 2.66GHZ Xenons, 8GB of memory and 1.6TB RAID (with one hot spare)
Sadly, it's not mine :( It's a belongs to a client.

The idea was to position the strobe directly above the tea cup, with a reflector below it that would let through only a narrow beam of light. This beam of light would only hit the bottom of the cup, making the tea glow, while the light bounced off the first reflector would provide fill, lighting the scene from the side. Unfortunately I couldn't get the beam narrow enough, so it ended up lighting a small area around the cup also. Wish I'd had some black al-foil and more time...
Initial attempts were with the silver side of the big reflector, but this gave too harsh a shadow behind the cup, so I flipped it to the white side, increased the strobe power and stuck 3 stops worth of ND filter on the bottom of the hole in the cardboard. Although I'm now thinking that 2 stops would have been better, to keep the cup-light brighter than the fill light.

4 SBs - again, I'm unsure of the exact power settings for each, but they were all between 1/8 and 1/4.
The two challenging aspects of this shot: getting the background to stay nice and saturated - which required some serious gobo action with some cinefoil and that big reflector - and to figure out the best way to bring out the shell's color/texture, and get the chrome hardware looking good.
I'm not sure if the light directly above was the best choice, but it worked for the other shot, so I figured I'd give it another go.

Had to create an atmosphere for this one, so I quickly sketched a fantasy desert-like landscape with some pastels. I knew it would be thrown out of focus, so I didn't worry about the fact that any drawing skills I may have once had have completely atrophied. Hung that from a c-stand. One speedlight with a tight grid aimed at the sunset area. Tried to ape the sunset light on the beast and the f*cked army men with a speedlight in another grid, full CTO, behind and overhead. No quite the right angle, but close enough for me. To bring up the general ambient light, shot another speedlight into a shoot-thru umbrella, a little behind and to the left. Last speedlight was gelled blue and fixed with a tight snoot, camera left and aimed to the side of the scene. My countertop was visible at the bottom, and I was going to let that slide, but my wife had a stroke of genius and we taped a piece of wood on it to complete the scene.

quick note.. The softbox did flash for the final shot, I took it off for another shot I did of him with his arms spread out.
No other lights used. I held the reflector on my lap to bounce some light back into my hold cards.
Geen ander licht gebruikt. Ik had de reflector op m'n schoot om wat licht in de kaarten in m'n hand te krijgen.
You can see the gobo'd SB-900 pointing down and the SB-600 pointed back towards the camera to light up the bottle. I actually had to gobo both sides of the SB-900 since that mirror at the very left was reflecting light back at me from an awkward angle.
A green bottle was chopped and wedged onto the lens. I used a plastic water bottle since it was big enough to fit over the lens and there was no way I was going to be able to slice glass. Plus the bottle had a particularly long neck which worked well for catching light.
That card-looking thing on top isn't any sort of bounce card or anything. It's just there to wedge the bottle into place since it was too big and kept wanting to fall off.
And no... I don't own a proper light stand. It's on my Christmas wish list. That silver tripod isn't even made for cameras. It's an $8 laser level tripod from Sears! I retired it in favor of the Manfrotto as quickly as i could. I'm not trusting all that equipment on that tripod. :-P
One flash in the empty wheelarch, the other pointing at the front grill. Both triggered via Elinchrom Skyports, velcro'ed to the flash heads.
