I know I have done this before, but it is tuesday afternoon and that is my weekly designated time to be a photographer. It is raining hard, real hard, so all my plans are ruined. I pull my car into a secluded parking lot of a restaurant that has gone out of business. I notice a few other cars and trees, lots of wonderful trees. I figure "what the hell' and get my camera out cursing myself for still not having a decent macro lens. I click away for a few minutes at my windshield so as to not waste my tuesday afternoon entirely. As I finish, I look around, the other three cars that were there are gone. I never even noticed them leave. Hmmm? Maybe they were all having lunch hour affairs? Could a goofy guy with a camera have been mistaken for a Private Investigator highered by a suspicious spouse? I giggled to myself, my tuesday wasn't totally wasted after all.
The other day when I was out running with Mollie I noticed her shadow and it reminded me of a photo I had seen on FB but it was done with a cat.
Figured I'd see if I could get Mollie to sit still long enough for me to give it a try.
The power of a banana always wins ;-)
Ok, I know the "ring shadow in the shape of a heart" image has been done a thousand times but I thought I'd give it a try and use a slightly more creative theme than the usual wedding ring.
Photographed and uploaded for the "Weekend Assignment and Contest" pool... Contest #48: "In the Round".
Any constructive feedback is always appreciated!
Explored, July 20 2009, #47 (highest #14) ... Thank you all so much! :-)
Someone has done this. Sorry :(
I'm posting a photo after almost four days.
I've really been busy.
And I think I will be busy again in the coming week. *sigh*
Small lizard in the grass, which I've seen in the forest :)
The sand lizard (Lacerta agilis) is a lacertid lizard distributed across most of Europe and eastwards to Mongolia. It does not occur in the Iberian peninsula or European Turkey. Its distribution is often patchy.
As juveniles they are usually brown with two light brown lines on the top of the flanks, on the flanks they have light spots bordered by a dark colour. The top of the back has black markings with light spots inside the black marks. Male adults are usually green on the flanks and a brownish back with smaller black markings and lighter scales inside of these black markings, the tail is brown and hind limbs also. Females are more brown, on the flanks they have various dark markings also with a lighter dot or two inside of this dark patch. Sand Lizards can reach up to 25 cm (10 in) in length.
This species can be found in a wide range of habitat types including meadows, heathland, coastal dunes, grassland, steppe, subalpine and alpine meadows, shrubland, hedgerows, open woodland, in alpine areas, traditionally managed agricultural land and rural gardens. Sometimes it is present in sandy semi-desert areas. In the northwest of its range (e.g. UK) it is largely restricted to open heathland and coastal dune habitats.
It appears after hibernation in March in the North, in March - April in the South and at mountains. The female may lay one or two clutches of between four and 14 eggs per year in loose sand in a sunny location, leaving them to be incubated by the warmth of the ground. Incubation period lasts 50 - 55 days. Young of first generation appear in July - August, second - in September - October.

I was walking along Flatbush Ave., BK when I spotted this handsome fella, along with two others (equally handsome. I noticed they all had cameras, and I stopped them and playfully said "I see you!" needless to say we took each other's photos.

Baha’i Temple
The Australian Baha'i Temple, or House of Worship, is a place of prayer and meditation that is open to people of all beliefs.
Located in the beautiful hills and bush land above the northern beaches of Sydney, it is one of seven Baha’i Temples throughout the world.
Other Baha’i Temples are located in Apia, Samoa; Chicago, USA; Frankfurt, Germany; Kampala, Uganda; New Delhi, India; and Panama City, Panama. A new Baha’i Temple is being built in Santiago, Chile.
Each Temple is designed to be distinctive, the unifying factor being that all are nine-sided – a symbol of the unity of the world religions.

I know this has been done a million times on Flickr but I've always wanted to try it, so here's my version. I like this viewed large.
This is an old Danish bible from my Dad's side... it dates back to 1896, so it's 116 years old. We have some writing and notes in it that we can't read, so... if anyone can translate Danish, let me know. :-)

Hello people! After 3 years I’m back! So first I want to apologize to everyone because I left so suddenly without letting anyone know. It’s sad to say but I left because at the time I lost my interest in LEGO a bit. :O :/ I didn’t necessarily lost my interest in LEGO itself, more in the building part. But I found my interest back and I am looking forward to build new stuff! As of yet I don’t know in which extent I’ll be uploading new things. We will see. I just know I’m glad to be back!
The figure and background you see are ones that I quickly put together so that I had a picture for the announcement. :D
Enjoy!
I find interesting and pretty things on my walks and sometimes bring them home. I picked up these leaves last week and put them under a book to flatten them and then forgot about them until today! What a pretty collection they make! The backsides of the leaves, which display the veins more clearly, always seem more interesting to me.

I colored the sky red in the wine glass by adding a few drops of soy sauce to the water. Since soy sauce is denser than water, it collected at the bottom.
I've seen so many versions of majestic views of Yosemite taken at Tunnel View viewpoint, and this time I have my own version of it, which it turns out to be my favorite image of the trip.
This was the last day of our 3-day Yosemite trip, and because of the itinerary, we didn't have time to take sunrise photos as we did in the first two days. But that turns out to be a lucky decision because by the time we arrived at Tunnel View, the sun was just at the right angle to cast that amazing light ray into the valley. If we were to be here before sunrise, we wouldn't wait until 1.5 hours after sunrise to witness this moment. Absolutely love the sense of depth and vastness that this images gives me.
[from Wikipedia]:
A wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) is a vessel specifically designed for the installation of offshore wind turbines. There were 16 vessels in 2020.
Most are self-elevating like jackup rigs. To enable quick relocation in the wind farm it is self-propelled. It also has a slender ship shaped hull to achieve a quick turnaround time with the vessel carrying several foundations or wind turbines each time. Azimuth thrusters are used to position the vessel during jack-up operations. Some vessels use the thrusters in dynamic positioning (without jacking up) to keep the vibrating pile driver steady when installing foundations.

Why "Lilliput"
We all have our little World which is our leader idea.
I find this micro-world wandering trough the marshes. Sun and few inches tall grasses were as from dream. I expect Lilliputians, but till now they didn't appear.

And I am beautiful !!
This is the first bloom from my huge dahlia plant, the tuber (also huge) carefully preserved from last year. That was from a little seedling given to me by a wonderful friend. And here we are ! The plant now has four blooms, and loads more to come - I'm so proud of it. A particularly beautiful bloom, I haven't enhanced the colours here at all. Just a bit of sharpening and my own texture applied round the edges of the flower to tone down the overly green background of dahlia leaves.
Hope you like it too ... many thanks for all your support, my friends, and have a lovely weekend !

Believe it or not this is my kindergarten school port, so that makes is REALLY OLD lol ;))) I have always had something like this in mind for my little red port and now seemed kinda appropriate seeing that I am heading off soon. The out takes from this shot are so funny as my dogs are not impressed that I was "packing" lol and they came to sniff out what was going on..... I also learnt a new skill re selective colouring which made it a lot easier than how I was doing it before and I am pleased bout that :))) 8 days to go ;)) So Excited :) Car
Have the greatest of weekends ;)

‘I Want Pau’ by WK Setor, also known as ‘Brother and Sister’
This mural is said to be depicting real life memories of a man known as Mr. Au as a child along with his younger sister reaching out of their front window towards a bicycle that their parents use to ride selling dim sum and baked goods from a stack of Ratten Stays on the back of the bike.
The "I Want Pau" Mural graces the side wall of the Ming Xiang Tai Pastry Shop, acting possibly as an artistic billboard for the business within.
My picture gives the impression the children are reaching out to take a few Malaysian Ringgits from the young man.
I noticed the selfie obsession during my trip to USA, I mean if you offered to take someone's photo they will politely decline in favor of a selfie, so I decided to use my zoom lens to stalk these selfie takers.
And this is the result! my favorite selfie taker of the day, I took several photos of this pretty young lady and she shone as the best selfie lover, she stood there taking tens of pictures of herself in different poses and looks.
Added later: I totally forgot to say, when I uploaded today's three photos this morning, that yesterday was kind of a weird day, lol! It started off when I happened to glance out of my living room window and noticed something whitish against the outside of my fence. My first thought was that maybe the fake owl had been blown off my roof! Then I was hoping that it wasn't an animal that had died. Later in the day, when I was dressed and ready to go out for a drive, I walked round the side and discovered two fairly large Buddha garden ornaments! I wonder if someone stole them from someone's garden for a prank and left them there. Can't think of any other reason. Forgot to check today, to see if they are still there.
The other thing that happened was very different! Occasionally, when I'm along one of the roads SW of the city, friend Pam also happens to come along. So, yesterday, I had pulled over to photograph a Wilson's Snipe standing on a fencepost, totally in my own little world. I was suddenly aware of a car pulling up alongside of me - and Pam was who I thought of straight away. However, when I turned to look, I found myself looking into the face of a Police Officer sitting in his Police car!!! Almost always, when I pull over, I turn on my hazard blinkers, or at the very least, the indicator. Didn't that time, so I was feeling very guilty. However, the Police Officer hadn't stopped for that reason. He just wanted to check that I was taking photos and, I guess, that all was OK. He asked what I was photographing and I pointed out the bird. He said he had wondered if maybe I had seen a bear on the distant hillside (I wish!). Then he apologized for making the bird fly just before he drove off, with a friendly "Take Care" : ) I almost decided to leave for home, but then changed my mind and went in search of (hopefully) an owl. Not a good feeling, though, each time I pulled over, lol!
The feel of goose bumps and half-numbed skin was the most wonderful feeling late yesterday, when I couldn't bear being inside my place one more day. It feels like an oven each summer, but this year, with the crazy weather we have been having, the heat has already been too much. I had already stayed home for three days in a row, as the two day trips at the weekend had totally knocked me out. Yesterday (8 June 2016), though, I couldn't take the indoor heat any longer, and so I took a drive SW of the city. By the time I got back home, I felt 'cold', which was so good. Travelled all my usual roads and back roads, seeing all the usual things, including Wilson's Snipe, Red-winged Blackbirds and Mountain Bluebirds.
When I felt it was time to start on my homeward journey, I reckoned I might as well check one more time for a Great Gray Owl. I almost drove straight past this beautiful bird - it was on the far side of the road and just blended in with the light and shadows of the forest. I took this and a few other quick shots, then drove down the road and turned around, hoping that the owl would still be in the same place, which thankfully it was. It eventually flew across the road and landed in a tree or two and then made its way to an open area where it continued to hunt. After a few minutes, it dove into the grass and completely disappeared from sight. I thought I must have missed seeing it fly away, but it eventually did reappear and immediately flew across the road again, with a small rodent in its beak. A quick stop on a fence post (with its back to me, sigh) and then it flew off into the trees. No matter how many times I see one of these owls and no matter how many hundreds/thousands of photos I've taken of them, each owl is as exciting as the very first.
Having been so very fortunate to see this owl (which i have now seen on three days in the past week), I thought I would check one more time to see if the second owl that I saw a few days ago was anywhere in sight. Nothing - but I did watch and photograph a sweet pair of Mountain Bluebirds. Not my 'usual' pair, though I did see them briefly, earlier on my drive.
"Although the Great Gray Owl is the tallest American owl with the largest wingspan, it is just a ball of feathers. It preys on small mammals and has relatively small feet. Both the Great Horned and Snowy owls weigh half again as much, and have larger feet and talons. The oldest recorded Great Gray Owl was at least 18 years, 9 months old and lived in Alberta." I needed my Caturday photos! Poor Bella, she tried to sleep in her bed, got interrupted by a blue & rainbow elephant, then a pink flower. Soon afterwards she tried to sleep on my lap - only to be shown her photo. But after taking this photo I gave up & let her sleep. She says she’ll try to stay awake for our next theme. Happy Caturday!
I felt like this Bald Eagle today after a fourteen day battle with a sinus and bronchial infection. Greetings to all from Yellowstone!
I believe for every drop of rain that falls,
a flower grows...
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night,
a candle glows...
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
someone will come to show the way,
I believe, I believe...
I believe, above the storm, the smallest prayer,
will still be heard...
I believe that someone in the great somewhere,
hears every word...
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why, I believe!!!

I've seen so many inspiring bridge studies here on Flickr lately so of course I too had to give it another try :-) This is my nearest bridge, connecting Sweden with Denmark.
And, sometimes there are almost ridiculous coincidences... Yesterday, when I was nearly finished with the processing of this photo, I just happened to stumble upon Denis Olivier's fantastic photostream, and found his much cooler interpretation of the same bridge, from almost the exact same angle, and also in a B&W long exposure style...

I'm Alive was created in 2001 by the British artist Tony Cragg (b.1949). The sculpture with the telling title, I'm Alive, at first glance looks like a powerful creature that meanders forward. The surface is glossy, which underlines the impression that it is almost bursting with energy. The performance is intensified by all that moves around the sculpture - on the ground, in the sky and in the air - get caught up in the shiny surface and helps to create exciting new experiences. The artist gives the impression of vitality in every centimeter!
What is it that the sculpture depicts? Some perceive it as a wriggling dolphin. Others think it resembles a snake. Still others look completely different creatures or characters in the expressive composition. What do you see?
