‘I Want Pau’ by WK Setor, also known as ‘Brother and Sister’
This mural is said to be depicting real life memories of a man known as Mr. Au as a child along with his younger sister reaching out of their front window towards a bicycle that their parents use to ride selling dim sum and baked goods from a stack of Ratten Stays on the back of the bike.
The "I Want Pau" Mural graces the side wall of the Ming Xiang Tai Pastry Shop, acting possibly as an artistic billboard for the business within.
My picture gives the impression the children are reaching out to take a few Malaysian Ringgits from the young man.
I noticed the selfie obsession during my trip to USA, I mean if you offered to take someone's photo they will politely decline in favor of a selfie, so I decided to use my zoom lens to stalk these selfie takers.
And this is the result! my favorite selfie taker of the day, I took several photos of this pretty young lady and she shone as the best selfie lover, she stood there taking tens of pictures of herself in different poses and looks.
Added later: I totally forgot to say, when I uploaded today's three photos this morning, that yesterday was kind of a weird day, lol! It started off when I happened to glance out of my living room window and noticed something whitish against the outside of my fence. My first thought was that maybe the fake owl had been blown off my roof! Then I was hoping that it wasn't an animal that had died. Later in the day, when I was dressed and ready to go out for a drive, I walked round the side and discovered two fairly large Buddha garden ornaments! I wonder if someone stole them from someone's garden for a prank and left them there. Can't think of any other reason. Forgot to check today, to see if they are still there.
The other thing that happened was very different! Occasionally, when I'm along one of the roads SW of the city, friend Pam also happens to come along. So, yesterday, I had pulled over to photograph a Wilson's Snipe standing on a fencepost, totally in my own little world. I was suddenly aware of a car pulling up alongside of me - and Pam was who I thought of straight away. However, when I turned to look, I found myself looking into the face of a Police Officer sitting in his Police car!!! Almost always, when I pull over, I turn on my hazard blinkers, or at the very least, the indicator. Didn't that time, so I was feeling very guilty. However, the Police Officer hadn't stopped for that reason. He just wanted to check that I was taking photos and, I guess, that all was OK. He asked what I was photographing and I pointed out the bird. He said he had wondered if maybe I had seen a bear on the distant hillside (I wish!). Then he apologized for making the bird fly just before he drove off, with a friendly "Take Care" : ) I almost decided to leave for home, but then changed my mind and went in search of (hopefully) an owl. Not a good feeling, though, each time I pulled over, lol!
The feel of goose bumps and half-numbed skin was the most wonderful feeling late yesterday, when I couldn't bear being inside my place one more day. It feels like an oven each summer, but this year, with the crazy weather we have been having, the heat has already been too much. I had already stayed home for three days in a row, as the two day trips at the weekend had totally knocked me out. Yesterday (8 June 2016), though, I couldn't take the indoor heat any longer, and so I took a drive SW of the city. By the time I got back home, I felt 'cold', which was so good. Travelled all my usual roads and back roads, seeing all the usual things, including Wilson's Snipe, Red-winged Blackbirds and Mountain Bluebirds.
When I felt it was time to start on my homeward journey, I reckoned I might as well check one more time for a Great Gray Owl. I almost drove straight past this beautiful bird - it was on the far side of the road and just blended in with the light and shadows of the forest. I took this and a few other quick shots, then drove down the road and turned around, hoping that the owl would still be in the same place, which thankfully it was. It eventually flew across the road and landed in a tree or two and then made its way to an open area where it continued to hunt. After a few minutes, it dove into the grass and completely disappeared from sight. I thought I must have missed seeing it fly away, but it eventually did reappear and immediately flew across the road again, with a small rodent in its beak. A quick stop on a fence post (with its back to me, sigh) and then it flew off into the trees. No matter how many times I see one of these owls and no matter how many hundreds/thousands of photos I've taken of them, each owl is as exciting as the very first.
Having been so very fortunate to see this owl (which i have now seen on three days in the past week), I thought I would check one more time to see if the second owl that I saw a few days ago was anywhere in sight. Nothing - but I did watch and photograph a sweet pair of Mountain Bluebirds. Not my 'usual' pair, though I did see them briefly, earlier on my drive.
"Although the Great Gray Owl is the tallest American owl with the largest wingspan, it is just a ball of feathers. It preys on small mammals and has relatively small feet. Both the Great Horned and Snowy owls weigh half again as much, and have larger feet and talons. The oldest recorded Great Gray Owl was at least 18 years, 9 months old and lived in Alberta." Well, I'm quite obviously still no portrait-photographer and this lens isn't close to what anyone would consider sharp... and yet, I really like the look it creates. There could be more interesting subjects for sure… perhaps one day, who knows.
Oh, by the way: that lens is likely somewhere between 80 and 100 years old - it‘s really hard to say for sure, but I‘m trying to find out.

I needed my Caturday photos! Poor Bella, she tried to sleep in her bed, got interrupted by a blue & rainbow elephant, then a pink flower. Soon afterwards she tried to sleep on my lap - only to be shown her photo. But after taking this photo I gave up & let her sleep. She says she’ll try to stay awake for our next theme. Happy Caturday!
I felt like this Bald Eagle today after a fourteen day battle with a sinus and bronchial infection. Greetings to all from Yellowstone!
I believe for every drop of rain that falls,
a flower grows...
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night,
a candle glows...
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
someone will come to show the way,
I believe, I believe...
I believe, above the storm, the smallest prayer,
will still be heard...
I believe that someone in the great somewhere,
hears every word...
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why, I believe!!!

whether i want to float amongst the clouds we've been getting recently, to eat them like marshmallows, or to spin them into yarn.
the mountain range here rises 4,000 feet off the valley floor. the clouds are three to four times taller.

I've seen so many inspiring bridge studies here on Flickr lately so of course I too had to give it another try :-) This is my nearest bridge, connecting Sweden with Denmark.
And, sometimes there are almost ridiculous coincidences... Yesterday, when I was nearly finished with the processing of this photo, I just happened to stumble upon Denis Olivier's fantastic photostream, and found his much cooler interpretation of the same bridge, from almost the exact same angle, and also in a B&W long exposure style...

I'm Alive was created in 2001 by the British artist Tony Cragg (b.1949). The sculpture with the telling title, I'm Alive, at first glance looks like a powerful creature that meanders forward. The surface is glossy, which underlines the impression that it is almost bursting with energy. The performance is intensified by all that moves around the sculpture - on the ground, in the sky and in the air - get caught up in the shiny surface and helps to create exciting new experiences. The artist gives the impression of vitality in every centimeter!
What is it that the sculpture depicts? Some perceive it as a wriggling dolphin. Others think it resembles a snake. Still others look completely different creatures or characters in the expressive composition. What do you see?

I wish I could move to some place where there is sunlight at least every weekend. It is not easy to have such a good weather in Beijing. Overcast always.......
I would've been a fool not to attempt this. But given the right light, camera setting, and environment - this guy photographs absolutely beautifully!
Sadly I'm not around any swamps, so my garden had to do haha :)
Could I from this valley drear
Where the mist hangs heavily
Soar to some more blissful sphere
Ah, how happy should I be
Distant hills enchant my sight
Ever young and ever fair
To those hills I'd take my flight
Had I wings to scale the air
Harmonies mine ear assail
Tunes that breathe a heavenly calm
And the gently-sighing gale
Greets me with its fragrant balm
Peeping through the shady bowes
Golden fruits their charms display
And those sweetly-blooming flowers
Ne'er become cold winter's prey.

I would like to take a moment and wish each of you a very Happy and Safe Holiday Season. I thank everyone for all their support, comments, favs and invites. I cherish all the new friends I have made this past year. You are all very special to me.
I promised myself that I would restrain from posting images that were...sub par. Unfortunately, that would severely limit the amount of shots that I could post! I wanted to throw up (no pun intended) a few more 'autumn-ish' type images. This one in particular made me laugh when I came across it because of my EX-photographic assistant's partial profile that was caught in the lower left side of the frame. That was the LAST day that he was allowed to come with me...well...at least for a while anyway. He still hasn't redeemed himself from the days' behavior "issues". :-)
I feel you
Each move you make
I feel you
Each breath you take
Where angels sing
And spread their wings
My love's on high
You take me home
To glory's throne

My name is Anthony Mazur, and I’m a sophomore at Flower Mound High School. At the start of this school year, I joined yearbook class, and quickly fell in love with photography, particularly sports photography. I’d go to every game I could and learn as much as possible. I never knew that one day it might launch a future career into photojournalism and content creation.
My yearbook class asked me to take a trip down to San Antonio, where the Texas Association of Journalism Educators held a conference, inviting schools from all over Texas to listen to speakers, experts, and professionals give advice during classes and seminars about journalism, photography, and design. For the $100 I was asked to pay to go on the trip, I think it was well worth it. In one of the classes I took at the conference, the speakers, a journalism teacher from Argyle and her student now working as an intern for the Dallas Morning News, told us the student began selling his work to media outlets and organizations, and telling us how photographers own the work that we shoot.
At the end of the class, I approached the teacher confused, and asked that because I was using a school camera, and using a school press pass, do I still own my pictures? She replied that I did. From that day on, that student and teacher from Argyle inspired me. I was filled with joy; I realized fully that this may be something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It was my passion. So, I started selling my pictures to parents, tried licensing them to news organizations and get internships to learn as much as possible. It felt great to receive such amazing support from parents, players, and friends. I believed I found my place. One day, that all changed…
I was sitting in chemistry class when a blue office slip was delivered to me. A principal wanted to see me. When I entered the principal’s office, he asked me to close the door, and on his computer screen was my Flickr website where I posted all my pictures. Angrily, he told me I had to take it down, that I didn’t own my pictures, that what I was doing was illegal. I told him about Argyle, about the trip, about US Federal Copyright Law, which states whoever takes the picture owns the picture and can sell it. He didn't listen. Instead, he threw stacks of papers in front of me, threatened me with ISS (In-School Suspension), banning me from school activities, games, and from school camera equipment.
In addition, he gave me a concealed threat about asking for any money that I made off the site be returned to the school. He also made reference to reporting me to the IRS. Alone in a room facing him, with him threatening me like this, I’ve never felt so coerced before. In a later meeting with my parents, we were forced to sign an Administrative Directive agreeing to take my website down as to not have In-School-Suspension appear on my record.
My parents and I filed an appeal to the directive, citing Title 17 of US Copyright Law, the Texas Association of School Boards, and even LISD Policy (CY Legal/Local) which states that students own the pictures they take, even when using school equipment and on school assignment. Yet still, the principals of Flower Mound High School refused to listen, insisting that I was working on behalf of the school and that they expected them to be used only for school purposes, and claimed I violated students’ privacy by posting their image, despite the principals themselves posting pictures of the same sporting games I went to, on their social media.
Appeal after appeal, they have refused to listen. They have ruined my efforts to start a career. They have violated my copyright. They have violated my free speech. They have committed Prior Restraint against me. They have misinterpreted and misapplied federal laws and District policies.
I need your help. Now, it is time to stand up. This isn't just about me, or getting my website back up. This is bigger than that. All photographers, musicians, painters, writers, filmmakers- we are all ARTISTS. Our work is our own, and now, more than ever, it is necessary to support one another. Our art is being stolen. Our rights are constantly trampled on, and it is time to say we’ve had enough. I appreciate ANY support you can give. Just sharing this within your social network is a big help. Referring me to ANY lawyers or legal advisers is also appreciated! Flower Mound High School has chosen where they stand. Now, it is time for us. For the rest of history, our names will either be on the side supporting free speech, Title 17, and artists worldwide, or on the side of intimidation and coercion. It’s time for you to make that choice.
Thank you.

this was from last august, i really miss this time of year. the freedom of the summer is brilliant, can't wait till all my exams are over this year for another fantastic few months of photography :).
and I've decided to set myself a challenge..I'm studying german, so I'm going to try and write my descriptions in english and german. any german speaker, please correct me when (I will inevitably!) go wrong! :)
Diese Foto ist von letzes August. Ich vermisse wirklich diese Jahreszeit. Ich freue mich darauf das Ende meiner Prufungen fur ein anderer ein paar Monaten von Fotographie.
Me and Aaron are back together again :D
I got to America at 4pm (9pm UK time) yesterday, and had been awake since 6am friday morning and not slept a wink! But as soon as I saw my love I jumped on him and he picked me up and spun me round! It is amazing to be able to touch him and hear him and have him close - right now he is in bed sleeping and i am rubbing my foot against his under the duvet.
We got home yesterday and I sleep dead asleep in his bed. I was out cold. So yesterdays 365 was not happening! Right now, 365 is not our main priority, there are going to be days when we don't upload but we are going to take loads of regular shots and post them to our blog.
Today, me and my baby went out for a date - it was so perfect. On the way home in the car, we saw a shooting star!!!!! It is so SOOO weird in America - none of the cars have number plates on the front!! And the wheel is on the wrong side!!!!! And the whole cars are on the wrong side!!!!!!! My honey is asleep and I am going to go wake him up and make him watch a movie with me, I can't get enough Aaron and I am not going to let a day go by when I am not appreciating him.
Goodnight flickr!!!!! <3

Ugh! I really do! I live up a mountain and tend to get snowed in a lot, plus I got stranded in work on Friday because none of the taxis would go near my house. Also, it's cold and is only fun for about 15 minutes before your hands start to freeze off!
I've reached the conclusion that Hayden also hates snow. Honestly, he wouldn't stand or cooperate at all, and I was terrified he was going to faceplant and destroy his face, so his snow adventure lasted a grand total of 5 minutes before I brought him back inside again! XD
i've already processed a bunch of pictures (i always do) but i was sooo excited about this one that i had to put it up. i'm often disappointed with my composition, but i'm really proud of it in this shot. i enjoy the balance.
malika was TONS of fun to shoot, so i know i'm gonna end up posting a million pictures of her. got not as many good shots of katrina, but we'll see what i can do with them in post.
yay.
whoa. this made explore. yay again. (o:
2nd edit: SHIT. this made as high as 56 in explore. never had a picture do so well. thanks guuuuuuys!

Constantine I, or rather Causantín or Constantín mac Cináeda (in Modern Gaelic: Còiseam mac Choinnich), was a king of the Picts who reigned between 862 and 877. He was the son of Kenneth MacAlpin (Cináed mac Ailpín), and succeeded his uncle Donald I (Domnall mac Ailpín) following the latter's death on 13th April 862. According to the national myth, his father was the first King of Scotland, and so Contantine is Scotland’s third king according to most modern regal lists.
He spent much of his reign fighting Vikings. In 877, shortly after building a new church for Culdees monks at St Andrews, Constantine was captured and executed (or perhaps killed in battle) after defending against Viking raiders. According to some sources, his execution took place on a beach, though the exact location is not known. He was buried on Iona and was succeeded by his brother Áed.
I meant to post this for Valentines Day but forgot and so I am just getting around to posting it today. I hope you all had a great Valentines Day!
I have a confession to make... I saw this yellow blooming tree.... there is only like 2 trees blooming in our area at the moment.... I pulled over, left my son in his carseat (he could see me, I was like 3 feet from him) and stole a small branch from this persons front yard.... oh gosh, my heart was pounding lol... Im so bad lol...
This is my new favorite spot:) I'm sorry if you're getting sick of it!
Buuuut, more description later... Mmmmm...
