Taken in a studio using studio flashes to freeze the action of dancers making dance forms while in the air.

This photo was taken in an almost completely dark room. Needless to say, I'm very impressed by my new speedlight.
Kevin King finally came out of the closet an unveiled the much anticipated Radio Poppers. These little devices are simply amazing and give us the freedom, range and flexibility that other wireless devices offer, and still able to transmit e-TTL or i-TTL signal from the master to the wireless flash.
Previously with the IR system that Canon and Nikon use has been severely limited by line of sight and operational distance. But the advantage is the ability to retain e-TTL or i-TTL functionality as well as High Speed Sync. Pocket Wizards and 3rd party radio transmitters will only trigger the flash. No TTL communication goes between the two. Without TTL, you're limited to the camera's sync speed which would be anywhere from 1/160th to 1/250th of a sec. In a harsh daylight, you will have to shoot anywhere from f8 all the way down to f22 to maintain the 1/250.
This is where radio poppers comes in. With TTL radio transmission, I can fire the flash from across the hall, around corners, harsh daylights, and 1/8000th aft high speed sync at f2.8. So, all the limitations that I've encountered in the past are gone.
The devices itself are smaller than the pocket wizard. Currently the working prototype only has an on/off button and a link button. The transmitter antenna is about an inch and half long. The receiver antenna is about the same but this one has a fiber optic caber which transmits the TTL directly into the flash.
A jolly exercise at the camera club last night, akin to WIT (the What Is This? group), reminded me about macro shots I did some time ago. I thought I'd give some of them a new try ... now with flash!
Trying some flash photography. Cut a red solo cup bottom off, put the bottom over flash then, the rest over the other part of the flash. Natural red. no filters!

Like a lot folks, I love vintage flash cards. I've not had any success on eBay (within my limits) but I found this box at my local goodwill for $1.99, which is well below what I have set as a bid limit on eBay!
A side on shot showing the straps and some other detail.
The flash body is from a Sunpack flash. It is a bit small and I am concerned about it burning out, but it was cheap (free) and easily replacable.
The hole where the old flash buld was has been covered with a piece of plastic cut from another flash body, a CY-20 that I used for it's flash heads.
Originally, I had intended to put a connector on the flash body and one on the cord so that I could just unplug the flash heads for storage, but the connectors that would fit easily are all too small and the electricity from when the flash is fired actually jumps the gaps in the connectors and shorts out, causing havoc in the flash body and smoke in the connector.
So I scrapped that idea.

So he pops the flash and we get a sense of saturated colors.. what stuff would look like if it were a little less grainy. Danae seemed super aware when ever I was shooting and my camera was pointed her way. I had really only met her one time before this.. and we talked a bit about photography on this night.. there always seems to be a good amount of photographer bonding going on.
We have a game we play with the neighbor kids. As part of the Covid-19 Isolation ... I put out toys near the creek and give the kids clues.
They hunt the toys and re-hide them.
Sometimes they add toys.
This truck was originally upstream about 50 ft. and piled with rocks.
I found it after quite a bit of searching.
The original photo is in the comments....as well as the Teddy Bear that was up on a high log. The Teddy is missing, but I did find the tiny rubber dinosaur!
I guess Mother Nature wanted to play Treasure Hunt also.
I took part in the Manchester Weekender 2012 presents All in a Flash - a one day photography exhibition on the 14th october 2012.
Under the guidance of Len Grant, we tried to capture the characters of the Manchester Northern Quarter.
My theme was people at work within the Northern Quarter.
After taking photographs for a couple of hours, we each had a single shot printed out and took part in an exhibition flashmob - best described as a guerilla gallery.
Unfortunately only one shot was printed, so this gallery is an opportunity to say thank you to some of the other people that were kind enough to let me take their photograph.
