Portrait of a friend using an Orbis™ ring flash. The ring flash makes for some centered catchlights and a cool halo shadow. The crop is deliberately funky. Some may like it, some may not. I like it.

BTW, for those of you holding your breath, I’ve done a selfie and will be posting it sometime this weekend.

but I still liked the shot so kept it.

I went for a walk shortly after the hail and rained stopped, The rain started at roughly quarter to 7 in the evening and the hail started at 7. The hail lasted about 20 minutes, once it stopped the rain lasted for only a few minutes more.

Water coming from higher ground helped start a flash flood. The water at its peak got quite deep, a good few metres deeper than the creek was before the flood started and there was very little water remaining in the creek.

It was very dramatic, surreal even. What made it really surreal for me was that while i was photographing... i could still smell smoke being carried over the town from fires to the east by the wind.

Direct flash has harsh contrasts and harsh shadows. The bounce off the ceiling has good tones but casts a shadow across the eyes. The diffused technique has less harsh contrasts and eliminated the eye shadowing, but still has some harsh shadowing around the ear.

The inspiration for this came from a Nikon flash booklet.

As succeed using SB-900 speed light last night, i am still excited in using it through the night out tonight. The speed light was keep flashing my balcony just now. There are another reason why I captured myself today. I found there was a good foundation from Biotherm!! It was a small pack as gift when I purchased other products from Biotherm Homme. The color fits me so much!! You could tell from my face!

NOTE: I didn't do anything on the file by PHOTOSHOP or other software!

From the barrel of my Sig Sauer.

A friend fired my gun while I took the shot on tripod, a 3 second exposure, just long enough to capture the flash.

Finally got a decent enough picture of lightning after a very active storm rolled through Tuesday evening. It was quite a light show! I figured out how to use the clone and heal tool in Photoshop to remove the blurred out city lights.

Did a quick flash diffusion test with my Tamron 90 lens at 1:1 of a test subject using my normal coke can diffuser on a bracket mounted 430Ex vs using a diffused Opteka 600 twin macro flash ( shot here www.flickr.com/photos/lordv/5577399335/ ). Far prefer the light from the single diffused flash with it's much larger ddiffuser head.
