My father bought my brother and me each a primitive flashing LED pin from the hospital gift shop when we were kids in the 80s. I still had them up in the attic but they had no batteries in them (fortunately as any battery would have long ago leaked and probably ruined the circuit board). The trouble is that I didn't know what batteries they took. I ended up taking my stash of miscellaneous coin cells and picking ones that looked like they fit into the existing slots. Hooray! Decades on, they live again!
Peter and I were watching some intense Wimbledon tennis Friday morning. I decided to screw around with a flash in between matches. Thought this ended up kind of neat.

10th Motorcycle Meeting in Vinhedo.
Vinhedo is also known by it's grape and wine yearly festival, it's about 1 hour drive from São Paulo.
Other than the amazing motorcycles, other attractions were live Rock bands, Globe of Death and Wrestling show.

An inside image of a 1999 poster calendar of the Sailor Stars season with Eternal Sailormoon and ChibiChibi as well as the Sailor Starlights. This measures 15" x 21" (38cm x 53.5cm).
This calendar will be relevant again in 2021 (having just been useful for 2010). But, in the meantime the illustrations are quite cool.

This image for July and August has the inner senshi in their beach going swimwear.
This is a flashed picture so avoids the blurry seen in the next picture but is has the dreaded flashback that blinds out parts of the image.

Neste exercício, procurei utilizar o flash partindo do canto esquerdo, para ressaltar ainda mais todos os traços da foto, sobretudo a maquiagem. Além disso, a ideia também era utilizar como fonte do luz o próprio flash do celular, ao mesmo tempo em que ajudava a compor a fotografia e criar um novo desenho sobre ela. #flash #ecafoto17

I've often wondered what happens someone elses flash gun goes off while you're taking a photo.
Well here's the answer. The young lady is dancing to the Edgar Macías Quintet at Bearwood Corks club.
The guy on the other side of the room got quite a good shot as well.

I put my stuffed monkey, Mitch, to work modeling for my new 580ex II and lightsphere. My goal was to see which flash tactic worked best. My camera's settings:
iso 200, f/2.8, 1/60, (canon efs 17-55 mm) my flash on ettl.
Read the label under each... I think the lightsphere straight up with no lid was the best if you want to show detail...
You're using a tripod in public. You MUST be a terrorist !
Shot with the Nikon D7000 and Nikon 35mm F1.8G prime lens. Manual exposure mode, F14, 1/40th second shutter speed, ISO 200, matrix metering. Camera was tripod mounted and shutter triggered with Nikon infrared remote.
Lighting via two Nikon SB900 Speedlights placed on a light stand on either side of the camera aimed at the subjects. The flash on the left was in a large sized Rogue Flashbender with diffusion panel and the flash on the right side was in a small sized Rogue Flashbender with diffusion panel. Each flash in manual mode @ 1/4 power with the flash head zoomed to 50mm inside the Flashbenders. Flashes triggered with PocketWizard Plus IIs radio transceivers.
In 2013, I'm doing a 365 shot a day project with the theme "Toys. When you're not looking". The idea is to capture familiar toys dealing with the situations and challenges that life throws at them in the real world, just like a human would.
