Flash and I hiked-up Mt. Si today. 4 miles up-up-up followed by 4 miles down-down-down. Excellent hike - we had a great time...nice view at the top too.

I recently bought a ringflash to use when taking close-up photos. I like the way it illuminates the subject, as with this flower, and leaves the background dark. I believe this is a Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus). The wild native variety is bluer. However, according to Wikipedia, Cornflower "is grown as an ornamental plant in gardens, where several cultivars have been selected with varying pastel colours, including pink and purple". These ornamental cultivars have now spread to locations beyond gardens. This shot was taken on a patch of land adjacent to a tramline in Croydon, outer London.

This is an example of what happens when you get the flash off the camera. Put the flash to the side, fire it through a simple photo umbrella (& stand); add a reflector or a lower powered fill flash on the other side.

2 x TTL-Flash tests. I have done a lot of TTL flash tests with 2 flashes (key light and fill light), It suddenly struck me - I have no tests comparing 1 flash (key light) to 2 flashes (key light/fill light). So, I just did new tests. Please note, that, as soon as adding fill light, the key light is reduced by the TTL automatics. So, my advice is - as earlier mentioned: Turn up the key light, when using fill flash in TTL mode. No editing was done to these images, except cropping and resizing.

Love the flash, the way it forms the arch on the ground and the long shadows. An accidental shot, but love the effect.

I didn't get to see any actual robots in action because I couldn't stay there for long. But was impressed by the enthusiasm and the level of participation.
