I spent 2 days at the North Rim of Grand Canyon and it rained most of the time. I chased the lightning here for 3 hours and took over 1000 boltless photos under an umbrella during my endeavor. Trying to capture lightning without a trigger trap is a huge waste of time, but when your successful just once it makes it all the more rewarding. I tried several different setups using continuous shutter mode with long exposures and then switched to shorter exposures on slow shooting continuous mode and thought that I had failed. When I later reviewed my photos back at the campground I found that I had captured one photo with a strike included. I guess it was luck or just persistence that rewarded me. I also used a second camera to capture video of the storm and the awesome thunderstorm that accompanied the storm. I'm not sure if I will post any of the video but it was nice to have a personal record of the awesomeness of the storms the frequent the Grand Canyon.

European Robin [Erithacus rubecula]
This wee Robin has white flashes on each wing. I think this is quite rare as I’ve never seen one like it (even having trawled the University of Google). She is usually first to appear when I’m filling up the winter feed - the peanut butter mixture - and sings as she’s sitting waiting for the all clear... A lovely little soul.
Here, she’s sitting waiting in the rain. It’s a really dull and wet day! I hope she is going to have little baby robins with this amazing white flash.

I like to get out everyday especially on these dark winter days. no matter how cold. I am an experienced winter bike rider, but sometimes even I miss calculate. Today I stayed out too long, and the bike ride home was a bit scary. So glad to have a warm home to come back to.

Also tried the sci-fi movie ‘Sphere’ but came back to this as I can remember little from the other movie. Honestly, I could’ve sworn that the dominant colour of the film poster, costume etc was yellow hence the background of this shot. Looks like it was red.

I did a black and white rendition of this photo a while back on PF. Out my window this AM. Snow and cold but the cardinals are so pretty in the snow they always makes me SMILE.
So, the season premiere of the Flash Season 3 sucked, but episode two gives me a bit more hope that this will be different from Arrow Season 3. But, we can only hope.

........that's how I felt when I first stood in front of this building.
I've driven past it many times on my way to Germany, and I even saw it from the bridge, small and inconspicuous, standing by the fjord.
But I never expected the view that unfolds when you stand in front of it.
I find this building unusual and beautiful...........

Vorbei gefahren, auf der Durchreise nach Deutschland, bin ich schon sehr oft, habe es von der Brücke aus auch gesehen, klein und unscheinbar am Fjord stehend.
Was für ein Anblick sich aber eröffnet, wenn man davor steht, habe ich nicht erwartet.
Ungewöhnlich und wunderschön finde ich dieses Gebäude...........

Flash off camera fired using ebay wizzards. Flash is placed to the left, with a dish in the sink with the tap dripping.
If you see the auroras pulsate and flash across the sky and your neck is stiff and sore, then you know you've had an exceptional night under the stars.

This image is from a summer storm in 2015. I shot several long-exposure frames from a backyard in Scottsdale and ended up overlaying two of them to get this final result. It's not a great composition for sure, but it does (I think) show the fury of the approaching storm as it arrived over the Phoenix metroplex.
Our backyard is full of Lady Bugs this year. We have lots of aphids so there is plenty of food for them to feast on. We also have lots of finches too which I suspect are eating the lady bugs.
