So, the season premiere of the Flash Season 3 sucked, but episode two gives me a bit more hope that this will be different from Arrow Season 3. But, we can only hope.

What did you guys think of the two recent episodes?

The little kinglet, quick and bright,

A golden flash, then out of sight.

Hidden within the leafy green,

The smallest crown that I have seen.

It took some patience to get this photo! Watching this hyperactive golden-crowned kinglet bouncing through the bushes was a real challenge. But the reward was this shot, capturing a rare moment where its fiery orange and yellow crown was visible, perfectly framed by the warm colors of the autumn foliage. It's a reminder that good things come to those who wait—especially when photographing these tiny, fast-moving birds.

Evening in southern Saskatchewan.

An early evening thunderstorm moves over Longmont Colorado. Oddly several planes were flying through the storm, resembling small meteor streaks here. This storm occurred a week before my previous lightning/ t-storm post.

Filled in the stud places and painted new boots. That's about it.

Our backyard is full of Lady Bugs this year. We have lots of aphids so there is plenty of food for them to feast on. We also have lots of finches too which I suspect are eating the lady bugs.

Photographed with a Nikon D500, 50mm lens, 36mm extension tube and Raynox 250, Meike320 flash.

A short burst shot, was surprised to see one captured the flash trigger.

Fog was lifting but it was getting dark. I had a panel light to the left and the flash turned down. From my early days with a flash, Gary Fong always said to have the ISO at 400 when using a diffuser. I had to change camera and lens as the focus assist light doesn't hit the macro subject with the 105mm lens (lens is too long and working distance is too short).

I picked this flower from the garden this morning, and brought it indoors to photograph where it's easier to control the light.

Lighting stuff: I place a Yongnuo manual flash in a Rogue grid behind the flower at camera left for back lighting, and used a second Yongnuo flash in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box as my main light positioned in front at camera right. The strobes and my tripod mounted camera were triggered with a Yongnuo RF-603N. Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. For each image in the set, and there are over 1700 of them, I describe how I set up the lighting for that particular shot. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/

Other pictures that I've taken of Birds of Paradise flowers can be seen in my cleverly titled Birds of Paradise album.

On my morning walk today I was enjoying the crisp clear air and colorful Sycamore leaves when a Flicker flew by me flashing his brilliant salmon colored wings. What a delight!
