Was approached by a friend to help out with a fashion model search for a local blogshop and since i had nothing to do, i gave it a shot.
It was my first ever fashion shoot and didn't quite know what to expect but I went about doing things i read up before and I think it went pretty okay for a first timer! :D

Some flashes (mine included) like the Vivtar 283 have trigger voltages that will destroy modern cameras and other digital devices.
This is a very un-elegant solution. I am not very good with circuits, so I used a circuit I understand, the old Quaketronics output circuit with an input interface transistor.
It is meant to work with an open collector driver, like the CameraAxe and the TimeMachine, both of which work with this circuit. It works just great with trigger voltages up to 300 volts.
By the way, all the bypass caps, diodes and varistor on the +9 volt line are for filtering, to keep that darn 300 volt discharge from causing digital killing spikes.

My 8801 was plagued with battery issues - I tried every possible battery and it'd always go from 5 bars to 1 and then power off - sometimes when I got a txt, sometimes when I was placing a call, etc.
I sent this to iUnlock UPS overnight on a Thursday - it arrived Friday, was flashed with the latest (and final) firmware, and because I paid for overnight return shipping, I got it back Monday. So far, it works great!
BTW my previous firmware was 03.94
Last night I did a little experiment with a long shutterspeed, flash and 4 different colour gels.
I triggered the first flash up from the ground on the right, then I ran up the stairs and pointed the flash to the middle, the left and one down the stairs (you can see that last flash half-pointed to the camera at the door).
The back of the house was lit by an open fire, you can see that the camera picked it up in the background on the left.
I did this procedure only twice, with the first shot being the keeper. It was good fun!

Multi-flashes. This is the result of playing with multiple flashes - all off-camera. The primary lighting is from my ringflash held off to the right side. Backlighting from a diffused slave flash head, and finally lighting from the left from bounced light from a third flash. The conclusion - I have a lot to learn about studio lighting !

I just got a new external flash for my B-Day. Here are some experiments with it. The top shot is just natural light from some small overhead flood lights. The second shot is with the flash aimed directly at the subject. The third is with the flash bounced off the ceiling. I've got a lot to learn about using it, but I like the results so far.

This is a so called "multi flash sync" - the idea and pcb are from akeeh @ Flickr.
You are able to attach 4 flashes to trigger them all at the same time (when pressing the shutter on the camera).

I think the juvenile got a bit too close and the older one kicked off.
