This really is an oil lamp, and it's meant to flash!
I think it works by controlling the air, so the flame burns up, consumes the oxygen, drops which allow some fresh air to be drawn in so the flame burns up...
went to a christmas party with my flash. I don't really know how to use it very well, but the occasional shot works stunningly well.
I like the very overblown look, just in general.

Back to 2006 and the V8 Supercar practice session at Queensland Raceway. Jason Richards in the Tasman Motorsport Commodore shoots flames from the exhaust while sandwiched between Dean Canto and his then team mate, Andrew Jones.

I was trying to move some of my archives around today (you really don’t want to know) and ran across this one. It’s from Meadowlark Gardens in Griffin, Georgia back in 2014. I don’t think I’ve ever used it before but I saw it and instantly thought “square”, so here it is.

This dates from the 50's or 60's and it was my Dad's although he had not used it in years when I inherited it. I don't know if I could get the flash bulbs for it anymore.

A massive experiment tossed off as a trivial nothing by the natural world -- the atmosphere itself is turned into a prism, separating the blue and the green from the yellow and red of the sun's white light. The green is only there for a second, but there nonetheless.
I am loving off camera flash. I had my sb-600 set up with my new Westcott 43 inch collapsible umbrella flash kit. I had the flash at 1/4 power pointed into the reflective side of the umbrella.
